Tom The Dancing Bug has been running in newspapers for almost 30 years and it remains as timely and poignant as ever. Political commentator and Tom The Dancing Bug creator Ruben Bolling has certainly had plenty of material to work with over the last four years. Into The Trumpverse features more than 200 cartoons covering the political landscape during that time. With an introduction by the legendary Neil Gaiman. The people singing Bolling's praises, include: Mark Hamill: 'Behold the wondrous, whimsical, witty world that is Tom the Dancing Bug! If you're someone who's not a fan of potent political humor with an incisive absurdist twist that's not only consistently funny, but downright therapeutic for an ailing world, I suggest you avoid this book like the plague. For everyone else, it's a MUST-READ!' Patton Oswalt: 'Delve into the dementia, the dread, and the delightfulness of this collection of Tom the Dancing Bug's strips -- it's history through the lens of a self-loathing insomniac. In a way, it's all of us.' Seth Meyers: 'The fact that Tom the Bug can keep dancing in this day and age is a testament to his skills as a cartoonist!' Matt Groening: 'Each week Ruben Bolling takes an unassuming little blank white rectangle and fills it up with clever cartoonery, sneaky commentary, and more political laughs than you can shake a stick at. All hail Tom the Dancing Bug!' (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

San Francisco, 1971. As the Vietnam War rages, the government wages war at home against the hippy counter-culture. High profile drug trials capture headlines. Seymour Phillips, a headstrong journalist eager to prove himself, discovers key information uncovering a vast drug network. A routine interview leads to a sensational accusation that the man accused of trafficking mass quantities of LSD, works for the CIA. While most Americans were watching Leave it to Beaver and listening to The Everly Brothers, an eclectic group of CIA operatives were spiking each other's coffees with LSD, throwing decadent parties and hiring prostitutes to slip unsuspecting johns drug-laced drinks in order to observe every stoned and kinky moment from behind two-way mirrors. And this was only when they weren't dreaming up the next far reaching 'official' application for this new, all-powerful, mind blowing drug - a drug that would ironically fuel the counter-culture over a decade later. Coincidence? Maybe not. 'This stuff is terrific and it's obviously a labour of love.' David Lloyd, artist, co-creator with Alan Moore of V for Vendetta (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

And this was only when they weren't dreaming up the next far reaching 'official' application for this new, all-powerful, mind-blowing drug - a drug that would ironically fuel the counter-culture over a decade later. Coincidence? Maybe not. Based on actual events, Project MK-ULTRA is a zany, pop-culture laced Alice in Wonderland ride exploring the history of LSD through the eyes of a young, hungry journalist whose life is turned upside down when he's sucked into the absurdity of the CIA's most guarded top-secret Mind Control Project. Picking up from Volume One's cliff-hanger ending, Volume Two catapults readers into the darkest reaches of this twisted tale as it psychedelically spirals towards a jaw-dropping conclusion - one which will undoubtedly leave readers re-thinking everything they thought they knew about the counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s. Shakespeare died over 400 and no story captures the mysticism and brutality of Scottish history quite like 'Macbeth'. This graphic novel aims to tell the darkest version yet of this tale of witchcraft, murder, manipulation and unbridled ambition... When we first meet Macbeth he is a hero, he has fought valiantly for his country and saved Scotland from invasion by land and sea. But a mysterious encounter with three witches, who claim to see his future on the throne, spurs his interest in being king. This sets in motion a spiral of evil as Macbeth pushes destiny and descends ever deeper into the abyss. Basing his drawings on Prague Shakespeare Company's adaptation of Shakespeare's masterpiece Scottish artist Stewart Kenneth Moore has 'done double' by documenting a stage performance in Prague by illustrating it against the starkest memories, places and myths of his homeland. Based on an adapted version of the play, the pacing of the panels and scene setting serves to clarify aspects of the play that can be hard to understand on the stage. Shakespeare loosely based Macbeth on actual events. The witchcraft in this story is almost certainly based on 'Newes from Scotland' a London pamphlet on the Berwick Witch trials. Extracts from this pamphlet are included in this book for comparison. It is the opinion of the artist that 'Newes from Scotland' and Macbeth, to a degree, share the same political subtext, only in Shakepeare's case it comes with a dose of subtle irony.
