From Hornby America. It's never easy to resist the January Sales, but when you're Mr Bean, you own a Mini, and you buy too much, improvising is always the key. While the interior may be stuffed with bargain purchases, the only solution available to Mr Bean is to modify the car to drive it home seated in a new armchair carefully installed on top of the roof. A complex system of ropes, pulleys, broom handles and bricks all work brilliantly, until the unfortunate appearance of a hill on the journey home. (immagine) Categoria: Toys and models

From Airfix. The F4F Wildcat was the US Navy's primary carrier borne fighter aircraft at the start of the Second World War. Characterized by its stubby appearance the Wildcat had been developed as part of a successful range of pre-war biplanes and had entered service with the US Navy a year prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. By the time of the crucial battles for Midway and Guadalcanal the F4F-4 model had become the most numerous variant and new tactics enabled American naval and marine pilots to gain the upper hand on the previously all-conquering Mitsubishi Zero. From Airfix. The Hawker Tempest V entered Royal Air Force service in early 1944, with the first two squadrons to receive the type having both previously operated the Typhoon. In advance of the D-Day landings, Tempests were being used in a similar ground attack role to the one being flown so effectively by Typhoon squadrons, however, should it be required to make the shift to air combat operations mid-mission, the Tempest was much more suited to this task. Possessing significantly greater range than the Typhoon, Tempests could loiter in the combat zone for longer periods, allowing offensive strikes deeper into occupied Europe, or allowing pilots to wait patiently for the Luftwaffe to come up and fight, where they could show them what their new fighter could really do. From Airfix. The Jet Provost is a British jet trainer aircraft that was in use with the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1955 to 1993. It was originally developed by Hunting Percival from the earlier piston engine-powered Percival Provost basic trainer, and later produced by the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC). In addition to the multiple RAF orders, the Jet Provost, sometimes with light armament, was exported to many air forces worldwide. The T.3 and the T.4 were both operated by the Royal Air Force. From Airfix. The Junkers Ju87 Stuka quickly became one of the most infamous and feared weapons of the Second World War. The two-man dive bomber first saw action in the skies over Spain during the Spanish Civil War. While outdated in appearance, the Stuka did contain some modern features such as automatic dive brakes but overall the design was outmoded. Over the skies of Poland, France and the Low Countries in 1940 the Stuka was able to operate in clear skies and did so effectively but over the South of England during the Battle of Britain, the Stuka came up against staunch RAF fighter opposition, and suffered as a result. Later the Stuka was used in the Balkans and the Western Desert, and continued to serve Russia, as a tank destroyer, until the end of the Second World War. Now available in 1:72 scale and with 2 livery schemes and sprues and decals, the Stuka will look just as powerful in your model range as it did in the sky. (immagine) Categoria: Toys and models

From Airfix. One of the most distinctive aircraft of the Second World War, the Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a twin engined heavy fighter intended to be faster and more heavily armed than any other fighter aircraft in the sky at that time and during the early months of WWII, certainly proved to be devastatingly effective. Despite suffering at the hands of the RAF during the Battle of Britain, the Bf 110 would go on to prove its worth as a long range fighter bomber and ground support aircraft over the vast expanses of Russia and into the Mediterranean and North Africa, serving throughout the remainder of the Second World War. From Airfix. The North American P-51 Mustang is regarded by many as one of the most iconic American fighters of the Second World War. Designed to fulfil an RAF specification, the Mustang was transformed once the Rolls Royce Merlin engine was installed. The P-51D model's long range and excellent firepower made it a superb escort fighter, able to protect the bombers all the way to Berlin and back. The P-51 is recorded as being the top scoring Allied fighter of the war with 4,950 enemy aircraft destroyed. In 1948 the type designation for the Mustang changed to F-51D and it continued in USAF and RAAF service as a ground attack aircraft through the Korean War. (immagine) Categoria: Toys and models

From Airfix. The Mk XIX was the last and most successful photographic reconnaissance variant of the Spitfire. It combined features of the Mk XI with the Griffon engine of the Mk XIV. After the first 25 (type 389s) were produced, later aircraft were also fitted with the pressurised cabin of the Mk X and the fuel capacity was increased to 256 gallons, three-and-a-half times that of the original Spitfire. The first Mk XIXs entered service in May 1944, and by the end of the Second World War the type had virtually replaced the earlier Mk XI. (immagine) Categoria: Toys and models
