One of the bloodiest and longest lasting revolutionary movements in Latin America described in graphic form.Rupay, in Quechua, means ardor, fire. On May 17th, 1980, the Shining Path, a Maoist group in Peru, burned the electoral records in a small town in the Ayacucho region to ignite the revolution that would set all of Peru aflame. This graphic novel retells the events relating to the start of the conflict, between 1980 and 1984, and the political violence that continued through 1990. Cossio Guevara charts the first subversive acts by the Shining Path, the government response, the escalation of violence, the response from the media and Peruvian intellectuals, and the brutality and impunity with which the repression was carried out, as well as such brutal episodes as the burning of polling in Chuschi, the Lucanamarca massacre, the mass graves in Putis, and the massacres of Aranhuay and Paccha.Masterfully drawn, this graphic novel is the chronicle of the tragedy and barbarism that challenged the poorest and most vulnerable members of Peruvian society, revealing the racist, classist, and apathetic attitudes from the criminals, government officials, military officers, business groups, and unaffected civilians alike. This book immortalizes the victims and recounts these events so that this tragic history is not lost to obscurity or repeated.

Award-winning Ukranian author Artem Chapeye’s new novel follows a young couple who escape city life to the mountains in Ukraine, only to discover an altered reality upon their return. As in Ling Ma’s Severance and Emily Mandel’s Station Eleven, the survivors must seek ways to retain their humanity and help to build a new world in a post-apocalyptic dystopia. After a young couple return from their summer in the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine, they discover that the world as they once knew it no longer exists. Survivors are forced to adapt to the harsh conditions of their new reality: a place where erosion floats in on a breeze, and ceasing to exist comes with a deceptively joyous capitulation. Overcoming deeply rooted fears, they try to forge another world, uniting with those who continue to fight the darker urges that can emerge when a society must rebuild. Will the couple be able to survive, make alliances with others, and give birth to a new generation? Will the insidiousness of human nature manifest itself in this new, post-apocalyptic world? Filled with beautifully melancholic and black humor, The Weathering becomes a kind of study of behavior in critical situations when everything that once seemed stable falls apart.

“Clay McLeod Chapman is one of my favorite horror storytellers working today.” — Jordan Peele A murderous artist is haunted by the spirits of those he has killed in this surreal and chilling supernatural revenge novella. From the acclaimed author of Ghost Eaters, and perfect for fans of Joe Hill and Delilah S. Dawson. At sixty-six years old, Winston Kemper has always been a nonentity. No one notices him. His simple existence barely registers for those who come into contact with him. Some call him feeble-minded. He is a janitor at the local church, a groundskeeper by default, and that’s it. No friends, no family. When he’s done with work, he returns home—a remote, single room apartment located above a garage—and that is where his true work begins.Winston Kemper is a collector of voices, and his magnum opus—The Butterfly Girls—is a sprawling epic of untapped imagination. It has no single canvas, no particular frame. It is everywhere—scribbled on the walls, the floor, and countless notebooks.Winston is creating a fantasia which exists in words, images and blood. As part of his 'art' he has been murdering forgotten women. Poor souls who slip through the cracks of society, who no one’s looking for. Mothers, sisters, daughters to someone, but no more.Winston takes their lives, their voices. But now he can hear them. They whisper to him. They talk of revenge. Winston Kemper might not believe in ghosts, but he is about to learn they are very real. And they are very, very angry. A surreal and dreamlike novella about the ghosts of our past and the dangerous, obsessive pursuit of art, from the "true master of horror." (CJ Leede, Maeve Fly)

The official retrospective for controversial erotic historical drama Caligula, adapted from an original screenplay by Gore Vidal, with principal photography by Tinto Brass. Tracing Caligula’s difficult production and the versions released, from the 1979 Penthouse Publisher and producer Bob Guccione cut to the Cannes 2023 Ultimate Cut.Conceived by screenwriter Gore Vidal as a depiction of absolute power corrupting absolutely, Caligula depicts the ascent to emperor and subsequent reign of Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, nicknamed Caligula, one of the most notorious rulers of ancient Rome, in 37 A.D. Shot as an erotic historical drama by Tinto Brass, the version released theatrically in 1980 was notoriously altered in post-production editing by producer - and Penthouse magazine publisher - Bob Guccione, who added hardcore sex scenes featuring Penthouse Pets that had been filmed separately. Written by Aaron Shaps, editor of the 2023 Ultimate Cut of the film, Caligula: The Official Story of the Film traces the film’s history, from the original concept drafted by Roberto Rossellini, through the difficult production, cinematic release and resulting legal battles to have the film declared not obscene so it could be screened in mainstream cinemas. The story comes right up to date, covering the different international cuts of the film released over the subsequent decades, and concluding with the 2023 Cannes screening and release of the Ultimate Cut. Illustrated with stills from the original and 2023 cuts of the film, the book also includes previously unpublished behind-the-scenes photos of the shoot from the Penthouse archives.
Aaron has worked as a writer in comic books, prose, film, and video games since 2006. He was also the film editor on Caligula: The Ultimate Cut. Based in Los Angeles.
