CELEBRATING FOUR DECADES OF THUNDERCAT ADVENTURES!With the debut of the animated ThunderCats series in 1985, the adventures of the last survivors of Thundera quickly became a cultural phenomenon both across the country and around the world. That same year, Marvel Comics launched a ThunderCats comic book title under its Star Comics imprint, which featured inspired work from some of comics’ greatest talents, including DAVID MICHELINIE, JIM MOONEY, BRETT BREEDING, GERRY CONWAY, and TOM DEFALCO, to name just a few of its famous contributors. Now, for the first time ever, all 24 issues of this historic series have been collected in a single hardcover volume! Never before reprinted in their entirety, these classic tales have been painstakingly remastered to showcase their amazing art and enduring storytelling. Featuring a foreword by LARRY KENNEY (the voice of the animated Lion-O) and an informative introduction by the series’ original editor MIKE CARLIN, this comprehensive archival edition is available in two distinct cover configurations — one featuring the first issue’s original cover art by Jim Mooney and Brett Breeding, and one featuring a new artistic homage to Mooney and Breeding’s iconic piece by current ThunderCats author DECLAN SHALVEY! Jaime Hernandez is one of the most humane, graceful, and imaginatively inexhaustible artists in American popular culture. Locas tells the story of Maggie Chascarrillo, a bisexual, Mexican-American woman attempting to define herself in a community rife with class, race, and gender issues. Maggie's story begins in the early-1980s Southern California rock scene, when it was shifting from the excesses of the 1970s to the gritty basics of punk and new wave. Hardcore punk rock came to the fore, and the teenage Maggie finds herself drawn to the anarchy, energy, and diversity of the scene, which in Jaime's hands becomes a very real, habitable place populated with authentic human beings rather than stereotypes. She quickly befriends Hopey Glass, a feisty anti-authoritarian punkette who quickly becomes Maggie's on-again, off-again lover and a constant presence in her life as they navigate a devastatingly naturalistic world. Created over 15 years from 1981-96 in the pages of the legendary comic book series Love and Rockets Vol. I #1–50, this new deluxe hardcover edition includes three stories that were not included in the previous edition. Jack Davis and Wallace Wood’s crazed cartooning in Mad changed the art form, and comedy itself, forever. But their gonzo parody work in Mad’s sister satire title, Panic, published at the same time, is less well-known. To invert that injustice, this volume of The Fantagraphics EC Artists’ Library presents all their zany, pun-packed Panic lampoonery, especially their pomposity-puncturing movie parodies, including Davis’s “My Gun Is the Jury!” “Come Back, Little Street Car!”, “A Star Is Corn” and Wood’s “African Scream!”, “Gone With The Widow,” and “20,000 Leaks Under The Sea.” These visual volleys are verbalized by Al Feldstein (editor of Panic, later editor of Mad) and Jack Mendelsohn (prolific cartoonist and writer whose non-comics credits include TV’s Laugh-In and The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine). But the laughs don’t languish. Also included is the never-before-reprinted “V-Vampires,” a riotous romp written by the legendary Harvey Kurtzman and drawn by Wood that vanished after its initial appearance more than 70 years ago! Chapman delves into themes of identity, the pains of expectation and success, and the allure of running from the life you’ve built. A sensitive and affecting slice of life, rendered in soft digital coloring. (immagine)

In the mid-19th century, millions of Africans were enslaved and brought to Brazil. Among them was the real-life Teodora who, separated from her husband and her son, worked in the home of a priest in São Paulo. Wishing to reconstruct the family ties lost during the journey from Africa to Brazil and to achieve emancipation for herself and her family, she gave Claro, a Black man who could read and write, money to help her write letters: some addressed to her husband and her son, whereabouts unknown, in the hopes that the letters would find them and that they could achieve this quest together; and some addressed to enslavers, intended to either help locate her family or to persuade them to let her buy her freedom. Inspired by this correspondence, Tiodora’s Letters is a rigorously researched historical work, a compelling narrative based on her letters, and masterfully drawn by D’Salete, who graphically recreates her struggle. In the 1860s, Benê, a fictional Black young man who likes Tiodora because she was kind to him, takes it upon himself to seek Tiô’s family and deliver the letters. He embarks on a dangerous and world-building journey into the interior of Brazil and to the coffee plantations where they might be. There are many wordless passages of heartbreaking horror, character beats, breathtaking drawings of nature, and much more. In Tiodora’s Letters, D’Salete reconstructs a forgotten part of Brazil's dark history of slavery and pays tribute to the strength of a woman who fought for her rights single-handedly. Includes educational and contextual material. (immagine)

Discover the award-winning #1 New York Times bestseller that brings the Civil Rights Movement to life — the stunning graphic memoir of the man called “the conscience of America.”Congressman John Lewis (GA-5) was an American icon who repeatedly made history as one of the key figures of the Civil Rights Movement. His commitment to justice and nonviolence brought him from an Alabama sharecropper’s farm to the halls of Congress, from a segregated schoolroom to the 1963 March on Washington, and from receiving beatings from state troopers to receiving the Medal of Freedom from the first African-American president. To share his remarkable story with new generations, Lewis turned to the graphic novel format, in collaboration with co-writer Andrew Aydin and artist Nate Powell, and inspired by a 1950s comic book that helped prepare his own generation to join the struggle. The resulting trilogy, March, became a groundbreaking and definitive work of graphic memoir — a perennial bestseller, a vital resource in classrooms across America, the recipient of countless honors, and the first comic to win the National Book Award. Today, March continues to animate the lessons of history with vivid life for new generations, powerfully and urgently relevant for our world. It is a vivid first-hand account of John Lewis’ lifelong struggle for civil and human rights, meditating in the modern age on the distance traveled since the days of Jim Crow and segregation. Rooted in Lewis’ personal story, it also reflects on the highs and lows of the broader Civil Rights Movement, with a particular focus on young adults. Through an unforgettable literary and artistic narrative, March portrays the surpassing courage, sacrifice, and revolutionary nonviolence that transformed American society in the 1960s, guided by principles and tactics that remain vitally relevant in the present day. This new single-volume edition features a detailed index.

John Lewis (1940–2020) served as the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s fifth congressional district from 1987 until his passing in 2020 and was an American Icon widely known for his role in the Civil Rights Movement. He organized sit-ins at segregated lunch counters in Nashville, then made national headlines as one of the Freedom Riders who challenged segregation at interstate bus terminals. As chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Lewis was dubbed one of the “Big Six” leaders of groups who organized the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. He coordinated SNCC efforts to organize voter registration in the 1964 Freedom Summer and was violently attacked by Alabama state troopers while co-leading a march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama in 1965, drawing global attention that helped hasten the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He went on to lead organizations such as the Voter Education Project and the federal volunteer agency ACTION. Lewis’s award-winning books include Walking with the Wind: A Memoir of the Movement, Across That Bridge: Life Lessons and a Vision for Change, the groundbreaking graphic memoir trilogy March, and the posthumous follow-up Run: Book One.Andrew Aydin is an award-winning comics writer. He was the Digital Director and Policy Advisor to the late Georgia congressman John Lewis, and his coauthor for March and Run. The classic Gundam series now in a premium Deluxe Edition hardcover!PRAISE FOR THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING SERIES“It’s a good book. Very good, actually. Very good war comics, requiring no prior experience with anime or mecha or Gundam—just a well-made, old-fashioned war comic, full of thrills and spills and lucky breaks and narrow escapes and preening villains you’ll love to hate and pigheaded heroes you may hate to love, and expert drawings by a master craftsman, and hard, sturdy violence.” —Joe McCulloch, The Comics Journal “One of the best drawn and told manga works of recent memory… If you want to understand the fuss around the original Gundam, or even read one of the better manga works out there, then Gundam: The Origin is definitely worth checking out.” —Ollie Barder, Forbes “WINNER: BEST MANGA [2013] This manga was penned by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko—and who better to handle the transformation of the show from screen to page than the man who had key roles in the original series, from character design, to illustration, to layout?” —NEO Magazine (U.K.)“Yasuhiko’s work is just really strong throughout. Fights between mobile suits are exciting, and manage to stay clear despite an impressive amount of detail… These releases deserve as much love as was put into them.”—Joseph Luster, Otaku USA “While it goes without saying that Gundam fans should enjoy these books, they are also a good read for those who simply like a science fiction or a war story that is well-written, nicely illustrated, and full of interesting characters… [S]eriously good literary entertainment.” —Anime News Network “No real knowledge or understanding of the original MSG is needed… What follows are hundreds of pages of suspenseful war drama and sci-fi explosiveness, all of which is well and good (seriously good, actually; this is an intensely fun sci-fi epic), but it’s the visuals that you are truly getting this book for.” —Graphic Novel Reporter “A compelling coming-of-age story. It spins personal and political drama together in a way that is both engaging and satisfying… This is a series you will want to put into a teen’s hands, even if they don’t know it yet. Once they start reading, they won’t want to put it down.” —School Library Journal Blog Network The storied Gundam franchise’s “First Season” that set new standards of verisimilitude for televised sci-fi animation returns in comics form at the hand of one of the initial creators! The definitive account expands on the classic narrative with the same sense of purpose that lit up the screen more than four decades ago. This new edition collects the original bestselling twelve-installment English release into six oversized volumes. All of the many color pages—unusually numerous for Japanese comics—have been retained…only at a larger size. The master’s artwork has never looked so grand!
