While working at a convenience store in Leonardo, New Jersey, Kevin Smith wrote and directed Clerks, a low-budget independent film financed in part by the sale of his own comic-book collection. Clerks went on to become the surprise indie hit of 1994, grossing more than $1 million and earning Smith a distribution deal with Miramax. Since Clerks, Smith has written and directed more than a half-dozen hit movies — including Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Jersey Girl, Dogma and Clerks 2. A lifelong comics fan, Smith jumped at the opportunity to adapt his Clerks movie characters into a comic-book series for Oni Press, writing Clerks: The Comic Book and a four-issue Jay and Silent Bob miniseries. In 1998, Smith’s longtime friendship with newly appointed Marvel Knights editors Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti led to his critically acclaimed eight-issue run on Daredevil — garnering Smith a Wizard Fan Award, a Harvey Award and an Eagle Award for Best Writer. Smith followed up his debut with a successful revamp of the original Green Arrow for DC Comics in a story hailed as “exhilarating†by Entertainment Weekly. Smith also scripted another famous Marvel icon with Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do. Smith lives in the Hollywood Hills with his wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Harley.David Mack submitted his first Kabuki collection while still in college as his senior writing thesis. (He got an A on the project.) Combining innovative storytelling, painting techniques and page design, Mack has won nearly every major comic-industry award, including the prestigious Eisner Award for Best Painter, and garnered praise from such luminaries as Jim Steranko and The Washington Times. Marvel fans first witnessed Mack’s stylings when his covers graced the legendary Daredevil storyline “Parts of a Hole,†which he also wrote. A few years after teaming with then-new Daredevil writer Brian Michael Bendis on the “Wake Up†arc, he returned to the title for the “Echo: Vision Quest†storyline, which reintroduced readers to the unique character he created in “Parts of a Hole.†Mack continues to write and illustrate his creator-owned series, New York Times Best Seller Kabuki, now published by Marvel’s Icon imprint, and has been nominated for several Eisner, Kirby and Harvey awards. He is also serving as the visual designer and co-producer on the forthcoming Kabuki feature film. Mack wrote the adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s Electric Ant for Marvel, and was nominated for a Writers Guild Award and a Producers Guild Award for his work on Showtime’s Dexter.Classically trained at New York’s prestigious High School of Art and Design, Jimmy Palmiotti began his career as a comic-book inker, gaining a reputation as not only talented, but fast. Collaborating with fellow artist Joe Quesada, Palmiotti lent his skills to such projects as Batman: Sword of Azrael, The Ray and Ninjak. In 1995, Palmiotti and Quesada founded Event Comics, creating the memorable titles Ash and Painkiller Jane. This led to an offer from Marvel Comics to revamp several heroes under the Marvel Knights banner. With writer Kevin Smith and Quesada, Palmiotti’s work on Daredevil became a monumental success. Palmiotti later began to take on comic-book writing chores with a lengthy run on Harley Quinn along with his creator-owned books.Joe Quesada became Marvel’s editor in chief in 2000, instilling an excitement and buzz that had been lacking for years. Quesada began as an artist at Valiant and DC during the early 1990s and soon co-founded Event Comics, introducing original characters Ash and Painkiller Jane. By 1998, Quesada’s reputation as both artist and publisher led to the founding of Marvel’s groundbreaking Marvel Knights imprint, with Quesada illustrating the flagship book, Daredevil. Marvel Knights’ critical and sales success led to Quesada’s appointment as editor in chief and later chief creative officer. In addition to overseeing Marvel’s creative output, Quesada remained an active writer and artist on projects including the Daredevil: Father miniseries and the Spider-Man “One More Day†crossover.Joe Quesada became Marvel’s editor in chief in 2000, instilling an excitement and buzz that had been lacking for years. Ed Brubaker is one of the most acclaimed writers in comics, a multiple Eisner Award winner. Following fan-favorite runs on Scene of the Crime, Sleeper, Catwoman and Gotham Central for DC, he moved to Marvel. His Captain America relaunch, in which he controversially revived Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier, won over fans new and old, and his revisionist take on the history of Marvel’s mutants in X-Men: Deadly Genesis resulted in a regular gig on Uncanny X-Men, Marvel’s flagship X-title. He and longtime artistic collaborator Michael Lark took up the baton on Daredevil after Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev’s legendary run concluded, and Brubaker jump-started Immortal Iron Fist with co-writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja. Marvel’s Icon imprint published Brubaker’s creator-owned Criminal and Incognito, and he has gone on to further success at Image Comics with such titles as Fatale, Velvet and The Fade Out. Beyond comics, Brubaker has written for TV’s Westworld and co-created the crime drama Too Old to Die Young.Michael Lark has teamed with writer Ed Brubaker on DC’s Gotham Central and the noir Scene of the Crime, as well as adding a timeworn elegance to the World War II flashbacks in Captain America. But his work with Brubaker on Daredevil set new highs — not only for their collaborative efforts, but for the narrative tapestry of Marvel’s Man Without Fear.Spanish artist David Aja earned his fine-arts degree at the University of Salamanca in 2000, becoming a professional illustrator for newspaper, magazine, publicity and multimedia clients worldwide. His comic-book credits include Marvel’s X-Men Unlimited, Civil War: Choosing Sides, Daredevil, Giant-Size Wolverine, Wolverine: Debt of Death, and a long run with writers Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction on Immortal Iron Fist.

Bill Mantlo began his Marvel career on Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, in which he introduced White Tiger, one of the industry’s earliest Hispanic super heroes. Eventually writing stories for almost every Marvel title, he did some of his most fondly remembered work on Incredible Hulk and Spectacular Spider-Man. He also created Rocket Raccoon, launched Cloak & Dagger in a pair of miniseries and guided Alpha Flight through some of its most harrowing ordeals. Mantlo excelled at integrating licensed properties into the Marvel Universe, as demonstrated by Micronauts and Rom, both of which he wrote from start to finish. At DC, he wrote the Invasion miniseries for one of the company’s biggest crossover events.John Buscema (1927-2002) literally wrote the book on being a Marvel artist — namely, How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way — and few were better qualified. His career dated back to the Timely/Atlas era of the late ’40s and early ’50s. Soon after beginning the Marvel Age of Comics, Stan Lee recruited Buscema from the advertising field to the Marvel Bullpen. Buscema followed a long run on Avengers with the long-anticipated first Silver Surfer series. He subsequently succeeded Jack Kirby on Fantastic Four, Thor and other titles. By the time of his retirement in 1996, Buscema had penciled nearly every Marvel title — including his personal favorite, Conan the Barbarian.Beginning as Stan Lee’s production assistant, Herb Trimpe (1939-2015) went on to pencil a seven-year run on Marvel mainstay Incredible Hulk — during which he debuted the future X-Man, Wolverine — as well as 1970s classics Marvel Team-Up, Shogun Warriors and Godzilla. He was equally prolific during the 1980s on Nick Fury, The ’Nam and G.I. Joe; the 1990s saw him illustrate Marvel’s First Family on Fantastic Four Unlimited. Trimpe’s war-story credits also include the introduction of the Phantom Eagle, the WWI aviator hero whose adventures were later chronicled by Garth Ennis.Few writers/editors influenced Marvel more than Mark Gruenwald (1953-1996). Famed for pioneering work on the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe and his magnum opus Squadron Supreme, he also wrote a hundred-plus-issue run of Captain America; multiple Marvel Two-in-One sagas; and several miniseries, including Contest of Champions, the first of Marvel’s multi-hero sagas. He explored the Marvel Universe’s ancient history in a series of What If? backup stories he also penciled.

Joe and several DC flagship characters in Action Comics Weekly, Batman and Green Lantern.Paul Ryan collaborated with Mark Gruenwald on Squadron Supreme, D.P. 7, Quasar and other titles. His #356-414 run on Fantastic Four is rivaled in length only by John Byrne and Jack Kirby. At DC, he penciled Batman, Flash and multiple Superman titles. He spent years penciling the Amazing Spider-Man comic strip, and penciled and inked the daily comic strip The Phantom for King Features Syndicate from 2005 until his death in 2016.The main contribution of artist and animator Rick Hoberg to Marvel Comics came in the pages of What If? He has also illustrated issues of Invaders, Star Wars and Iron Man, among others. Hoberg went on to pencil a long run on Green Arrow for DC. His extensive animation credits include Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Ultimate Spider-Man.Alex Saviuk established himself as a major Marvel artist with a seven-year run on Web of Spider-Man. He also worked on the animated-series tie-in Spider-Man Adventures and drew the Amazing Spider-Man comic strip from scripts by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber. At DC, he penciled and inked Flash, Green Lantern, Superman and other titles. Dwayne Turner’s early Marvel work included Avengers Spotlight and Transformers before launching the 1990s series Cage and teaming with writer Don McGregor on the limited series Black Panther: Panther’s Prey. Turner has illustrated a number of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn titles, including a lengthy run on Curse of the Spawn, and has subsequently worked extensively in the video game and film industries with credits including Tron: Legacy, The Jungle Book and the Halo franchise.Javier Saltares created a name for himself as both an inker and a pencil artist. His comics career started on New Universe titles such as Psi-Force, Justice and D.P. 7 — but in 1990, with penciler and future brother-in-law Mark Texeira, Saltares helped create the intense visual style that made Ghost Rider one of the most popular comics of the decade. In recent years, after a turn drawing G.I. Joe for Devil’s Due, Saltares returned to Marvel, re-teaming with Texeira on Wolverine and the Ghost Rider revival by writer Daniel Way.Tom Morgan started his comics career at Marvel in the mid-1980s. He contributed inks, pencils and cover art to a variety of series, including several Spider-Man and New Universe titles. Morgan next illustrated short runs on Captain America, Power Pack and Alpha Flight, along with the miniseries The War and two Excalibur special editions. During the early 1990s, Morgan landed his first long-term assignment as penciler of Punisher 2099. He went on to illustrate several Iron Man issues, an Extreme Justice arc for DC Comics and Topps Comics’ licensed miniseries Xena: Warrior Princess vs. Callisto. In 2008, Morgan illustrated IDW’s comic biography Presidential Material: Barack Obama. After stints on Warren Publishing’s Eerie and IPC’s 2000 AD, Paul Neary moved to Marvel UK as artist on the imprint’s Hulk and Nick Fury features, as well as multiple Doctor Who sagas. With then-newcomer Alan Davis, he migrated to more mainstream titles, inking Davis’ pencils on Uncanny X-Men and Captain Britain, as well as on DC’s Detective Comics. Returning to Marvel UK as editor in chief, Neary launched Death’s Head II, Motormouth, Warheads and other 1990s titles. He has since returned to art, inking Bryan Hitch’s pencils on Wildstorm’s Authority; and Marvel’s Fantastic Four, Ultimates and more.

Gerry Conway wrote Daredevil, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and others. He was instrumental in Marvel’s 1970s horror boom with work on Man-Thing, Tomb of Dracula and Werewolf by Night. His years on Amazing Spider-Man yielded such historic highlights as the groundbreaking death of Gwen Stacy and the debut of the Punisher. He also wrote DC’s Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Legion of Super-Heroes. For TV, he has written and produced episodes of Diagnosis: Murder, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Huntress and Matlock. An award-winning writer since 1973, Marv Wolfman succeeded mentor Roy Thomas as Marvel’s editor in chief. Well-remembered for his Tomb of Dracula scripts, he also enjoyed runs on Dr. Strange, Fantastic Four and Nova, among other titles. New Teen Titans, his 1980s collaboration with George Pérez, became DC Comics’ biggest hit in years. Wolfman and Pérez literally rewrote DC history with Crisis on Infinite Earths. He subsequently penned episodes for such animated TV series as G.I. Joe, Transformers and others.Multiple Eisner Award-winner Frank Miller broke into the comics business during the late 1970s, landing a choice assignment on the series Daredevil. His work quickly made the title one of Marvel’s best-selling series, as well as establishing Miller as a fan-favorite superstar. During his tenure on Daredevil, he introduced the assassin Elektra, who became a major Marvel character in her own right. After completing his initial run, Miller returned to Daredevil as writer of the acclaimed “Born Again†run with artist David Mazzucchelli; he then collaborated with John Romita Jr. for the Daredevil: Man Without Fear limited series. Miller has also had monumental success with his work on other iconic characters. In 1986, he made a splash at DC with the wildly popular and hugely influential Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, which told the tale of an older Batman still fighting crime decades after his prime. The following year, Miller reteamed with David Mazzucchelli for Batman: Year One, putting a modern spin on Batman’s classic origin story. Miller writes All Star Batman & Robin with artist Jim Lee, continuing to put his distinctive mark on the Dark Knight. Miller has parlayed his talents as a comic-book creator to major success in Hollywood. In 2005, Miller collaborated with Robert Rodriquez to co-direct Sin City, a film that was widely praised by both fans and critics. Two years later, Miller’s 300 met with similar success, breaking multiple box-office records. Miller wrote and directed The Spirit, based on Will Eisner’s classic hero.Bill Mantlo began his Marvel career on Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, in which he introduced White Tiger, one of the industry’s earliest Hispanic super heroes. At DC, he wrote the Invasion miniseries for one of the company’s biggest crossover events. As both writer and artist, Archie Goodwin (d. 1998) got his start in comic strips and cartoons before moving to Warren Publishing’s Vampirella — and from there to Marvel, where he eventually succeeded Gerry Conway as editor in chief. He has been credited with saving Marvel from financial ruin, with Roy Thomas, by securing adaptation rights to the legendary Star Wars franchise, perceiving its potential long before later merchandisers. He also wrote comic-book adaptations of Alien, Blade Runner and other hit films. He created both Marvel’s Graphic Novel line and its Epic Comics imprint — where, as editor, he occasionally appeared in caricature as alien, elf or other. He also edited early English translations of the Akira series and the works of Moebius. At DC Comics, he guided the destinies of Batman and Starman; one of his most memorable bodies of work was his collaboration with Walter Simonson on the “Manhunter†backup feature in Detective Comics, which won five Shazam Awards. In 1976, Ross Andru (1927-1993) made comic-book history by penciling the first large-scale intercompany crossover, Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man, having spent years illustrating both characters in various titles. He also made Marvel history in Marvel Feature, drawing the Defenders’ first appearance. At DC, he spent nine years collaborating with Bob Kanigher on Wonder Woman. With Marv Wolfman and Mike Esposito, he co-created Vigilante (Adrian Chase).Keith Pollard drew simultaneous runs on three of Marvel’s longest-running titles: Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Thor, including Roy Thomas and Mark Gruenwald’s “Eternals Saga.†During the 1990s, he singlehandedly penciled hundreds of characters for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Master Edition.Multiple Eisner Award-winner Frank Miller broke into the comics business during the late 1970s, landing a choice assignment on the series Daredevil. Miller wrote and directed The Spirit, based on Will Eisner’s classic hero.Frank Springer (1929-2009) provided artwork for multiple Dell Comics series before joining the Marvel Bullpen. He illustrated several stories for the black-and-white magazines of the 1970s, and then moved from title to title to pencil Avengers, Captain America, Spider-Woman and others. He later worked on Marvel tie-in properties Conan the Barbarian, G.I. Joe and Transformers. At DC, he co-created the Secret Six in House of Mystery, later returning to the concept in Action Comics Weekly. Springer also drew several comic strips, including Adventures of Hedley Kase, Rex Morgan MD, The Virtue of Hedley Kase and Marvel’s own Incredible Hulk.Al Milgrom, A.K.A. “Editori-Al,†is renowned as writer, editor, penciler and inker — and held most of those positions on Spectacular Spider-Man. He also contributed to SSM’s sibling Amazing Spider-Man. He penciled West Coast Avengers for four years and inked X-Factor for eight. His artwork has also appeared in Avengers, Captain America, Thor and most X-titles, including the classic Kitty Pryde and Wolverine. As editor, he oversaw Marvel’s Epic imprint and the sixty-issue run of Marvel Fanfare, where his satirical self-portraits made his face as recognizable as any super hero’s mask. At DC, he co-created Firestorm the Nuclear Man with Gerry Conway.Artist Greg LaRocque is best known for his DC Comics work on titles including Legion of Super-Heroes and Flash. At Marvel, he helped bring the long-running Marvel Team-Up to a close and launched the replacement series Web of Spider-Man. His other credits include Avengers and Power Man and Iron Fist.

Steven Grant has written Captain America, Incredible Hulk, Master of Kung Fu, Spidey Super Stories and more. In 1985, he penned the first Punisher miniseries, revisiting the character in several Holiday Special stories and the graphic novel Return to Big Nothing. Grant has also written First Comics’ American Flagg, Shatter and his creator-owned Whisper.Chuck Dixon wrote several limited series for Marvel’s Epic imprint, the long-running ’Nam series and multiple Punisher titles. When he set the Punisher against DC’s grimmest character in the one-shot Punisher/Batman, Dixon set the stage for his writing tenure on virtually every Batman-related title: Batgirl, Detective Comics, GCPD, Nightwing, Robin and more. Dixon’s other Marvel work includes What If?, Marvel Knights and Hawkeye.Writer/artist Larry Hama got his start as a penciler before becoming a respected editor and later a writer during the ’80s with his career-defining work on G.I. Joe and a memorable run on Wolverine. Through the years, Hama proved his versatility writing Avengers, Blaze, Elektra, Generation X, The Punisher: War Zone and multiple Venom miniseries. When Devil’s Due, IDW and Image Comics in turn obtained the G.I. Joe license, Hama revisited his iconic Marvel run, continuing where he had left off years earlier and bringing the series to — and past — a record-breaking three hundred issues. At Continuity Comics, he created Bucky O’Hare, launching a franchise that extended to animation, video games and a toy line. Hama recently revisited his era helming the adventures of Logan with the Wolverine: Patch limited series.Gary Kwapisz tackled two of the most lethal characters in comic books, drawing Frank Castle’s relentless crusade in Punisher: War Journa, and illustrating the escapades of the legendary Cimmerian in both Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan.John Buscema (1927-2002) literally wrote the book on being a Marvel artist — namely, How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way — and few were better qualified. By the time of his retirement in 1996, Buscema had penciled nearly every Marvel title — including his personal favorite, Conan the Barbarian.

British writer David Hine has been scripting comics since the early ’80s on UK indie titles like Crisis and the venerable sci-fi anthology 2000AD. Many of these works also featured his pencil art, though in more recent years he has focused on writing. During the last four years, he’s taken a lead role in helping sculpt the outer limits of the mutant universe for Marvel. His District X explored life in a New York City neighborhood populated by mutants, a blend of NYPD Blue-style police drama with X-Men theatrics. After a solid two-year run, many of Hine’s plot threads parlayed into the successful Decimation mini-series X-Men: The 198 and Civil War: X-Men. In addition to a handful of What If? stories, Hine has also scripted Silent War, a miniseries that pitted the Inhumans against Earth and served as a prelude to the 2009 War of Kings event. Besides being the writer of Image’s Spawn, Hine has taken on Spider-Man Noir, an alternate-reality series in which Peter Parker and his famous ensemble are placed in Depression-era New York City.Fabrice Sapolsky is the founder of French comic-book periodical Comic Box, a publication he also edits. Along with writer David Hine, he scribed Spider-Man Noir, a four-issue limited series in which the recognizable heroes of today are placed in 1930s New York City. Hine and Sapolsky’s script added pulpy textures to the drama of Peter Parker’s life in Depression-era Manhattan.Margaret Stohl is the #1 New York Times best-selling co-author of the Beautiful Creatures novels (also a major motion picture) and the author of the instant New York Times bestseller Black Widow: Forever Red and its sequel, Black Widow: Red Vengeance, as well as a contributor to multiple Marvel comics. Previously, Stohl was a veteran of the video game industry, working as a writer and designer before co-founding 7 Studios with Lewis Peterson.Italian artist Carmine Di Giandomenico drew Zeb Wells’ gritty Daredevil: Battlin’ Jack Murdock limited series and visualized the highly stylized, street-level suspense of Spider-Man Noir with writers David Hine and Fabrice Sapolsky. With writer Greg Rucka, he pitted Frank Castle against the Avengers in Punisher: War Zone, and with Nick Spencer he illustrated the adventures of James Rhodes in Iron Man 2.0. He later united with Peter David to deliver a fresh take on a familiar team in All-New X-Factor for All-New Marvel NOW! and Marc Guggenheim for the Secret Wars tie-in series X-Tinction Agenda.Richard Isanove is one of the industry’s premier color artists, skillfully transforming traditional black-and-white illustrations into richly rendered final compositions on such series as Wolverine: Origin, Daredevil: Father and Neil Gaiman’s 1602.Bob McLeod began his career in Marvel’s production department in the early 1970s, before graduating to a role as penciler and inker, beginning with Marvel’s Crazy magazine. He is perhaps best known for illustrating the New Mutants’ graphic-novel debut and the first three issues of the trainee X-Men’s ongoing series, written by Chris Claremont. McLeod’s extensive résumé at Marvel and DC includes titles such as Incredible Hulk, Conan the Barbarian, Legion of Super Heroes, Detective Comics and Wonder Woman. He also inked Mike Zeck’s pencils on the memorable Spider-Man tale “Kraven’s Last Hunt.â€

Dan Slott has built a loyal fan base by combining old-school fun with stories and characterizations friendly to new readers. Following his run on She-Hulk, Slott moved into the upper echelon of Marvel writers, launching Avengers: The Initiative and taking the reins on Mighty Avengers from Brian Michael Bendis. When Marvel gave Spider-Man a fresh start in 2008, Slott was one of several rotating writers on the thrice-monthly Amazing Spider-Man. Slott became the writer most closely identified with the web-slinger’s “Brand New Day†era, and the title hit the “Big Time†when he took over as full-time writer for a decade-long run. Slott has also turned his talents to other iconic Marvel heroes — including soaring the spaceways with Silver Surfer; helming Tony Stark: Iron Man toward Iron Man 2020; and masterminding the glorious return of Fantastic Four, leading to his long-awaited “Reckoning War.†In 2022, Slott made his way back to the Spider-Verse, teaming with legendary penciler Mark Bagley on Spider-Man and introducing the sidekick sensation Spider-Boy. Fred Van Lente has been a comics fan as long as he can remember, initially hooked by his father’s copy of Jules Feiffer’s landmark anthology The Great Comic Book Heroes. Van Lente joined Syracuse University’s comic-book club and met artist Steve Ellis, with whom he created indie super-crime comic The Silencers. That work got noticed by Marvel, where Van Lente was soon hired and introduced a heroic new Scorpion in Amazing Fantasy. Since then, the versatile Van Lente’s many Marvel assignments have included three New York Times-best-selling entries in the Marvel Zombies series, as well as Amazing Spider-Man, Incredible Hercules, X-Men Noir, Iron Man Legacy, Chaos War, Herc and Alpha Flight.Christos Gage sold his first screenplay in 1997 and has been working steadily ever since; he started writing comics in 2004 with DC’s Deadshot miniseries, featuring the sharpshooting antihero from Suicide Squad. He then began co-writing Avengers: The Initiative with Dan Slott, which led to him becoming the sole writer on the book and its successor, Avengers Academy. His additional Marvel credits include Civil War: Casualties of War, House of M: Avengers, Iron Man, Union Jack and World War Hulk: X-Men, as well as a prominent run on X-Men: Legacy.Beginning his career in animation working on such films as The Iron Giant, Anastasia and Titan A.E., Rick Remender has become a comic-book triple threat — writing, penciling and inking numerous fan-favorite series. Remender served as writer on hit video games Dead Space and Bulletstorm, while providing art for punk/metal bands like NOFX and 3 Inches of Blood. He’s co-created many popular independent titles, including the critically acclaimed Fear Agent with longtime collaborators Tony Moore and Jerome Opeña. His time at Marvel started on Punisher, and has since led to well-received runs on Uncanny X-Force, Venom, Captain America and Uncanny Avengers. Young won acclaim from fans and critics alike with Marvel’s series of New York Times-best-selling and Eisner Award-winning adaptations of L. Frank Baum’s Oz novels with writer Eric Shanower. His Young Marvel variant covers became a sensation, leading to their own Secret Wars limited series, Giant-Size Little Marvel: AVX. Also a flourishing writer, Young brought his flair for madcap antics delivered in his trademark kinetic style to Marvel’s Rocket Raccoon and Deadpool, as well as acclaimed creator-owned series I Hate Fairyland, Middlewest and The Me You Love In The Dark. For Marvel, he wrote Secret Avengers, Iron Man 2.0 and Ultimate Comics X-Men before relaunching Secret Avengers and launching the villain-centric Superior Foes of Spider-Man for Marvel NOW! In addition, she regularly penned Marvel’s adaptations of Star Wars, Conan the Barbarian and Akira. Duffy wrote the New Mutants tie-in miniseries Fallen Angels and cowrote several Speedball stories from Steve Ditko’s plots. Frenz succeeded John Romita Jr. on Amazing Spider-Man, and his artwork was favorably compared to Steve Ditko’s original web-slinger. With Roger Stern, he introduced the Hobgoblin, covering the mysterious villain’s debut and revealing his identity more than a decade later in Hobgoblin Lives. With writer Tom DeFalco on Thor, Frenz debuted a new look and identity for Marvel’s Thunder God, eventually branching into Thunderstrike. Later, Frenz and DeFalco launched the MC2 Universe, home of Spider-Girl, the only Marvel heroine to reach one hundred consecutive issues.
