From a rising-star author, winner of the both the Bram Stoker® and Nebula Awards, a richly inventive, brutal and beautiful science-fantasy novella. A story of family, loss, oppression and rebellion that will stay with you long after the final page. For readers of Nghi Vo’s The Empress of Salt and Fortune, Neon Yang’s The Black Tides of Heaven and Kritika H. Rao’s The Surviving Sky.Liu Lufeng is the eldest princess of the Feng royalty and, bound by duty and tradition, the next bride to the human king. With their bark faces, arms of braided branches and hair of needle threads, the Feng people live within nature, nurtured by the land. But they exist under the constant threat of human expansion, and the negotiation of bridewealth is the only way to stop—or at least delay—the destruction of their home. But come her wedding day, Lufeng plans to kill the king and finally put an end to the marriages.Trapped in the great human palace in the run-up to the union, Lufeng begins to uncover the truth about her people's origins and realizes they will never be safe from the humans. So she must learn to let go of duty and tradition, choose her allies carefully, and risk the unknown in order to free her family and shape her own fate.A powerfully imaginative, compelling story of a young woman seeking to save her family and her home, as well as a devastating meditation on the destruction of the natural world for the sake of an industrial future.

The official retrospective for controversial erotic historical drama Caligula, adapted from an original screenplay by Gore Vidal, with principal photography by Tinto Brass. Tracing Caligula’s difficult production and the versions released, from the 1979 Penthouse Publisher and producer Bob Guccione cut to the Cannes 2023 Ultimate Cut.Conceived by screenwriter Gore Vidal as a depiction of absolute power corrupting absolutely, Caligula depicts the ascent to emperor and subsequent reign of Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, nicknamed Caligula, one of the most notorious rulers of ancient Rome, in 37 A.D. Shot as an erotic historical drama by Tinto Brass, the version released theatrically in 1980 was notoriously altered in post-production editing by producer - and Penthouse magazine publisher - Bob Guccione, who added hardcore sex scenes featuring Penthouse Pets that had been filmed separately. Written by Aaron Shaps, editor of the 2023 Ultimate Cut of the film, Caligula: The Official Story of the Film traces the film’s history, from the original concept drafted by Roberto Rossellini, through the difficult production, cinematic release and resulting legal battles to have the film declared not obscene so it could be screened in mainstream cinemas. The story comes right up to date, covering the different international cuts of the film released over the subsequent decades, and concluding with the 2023 Cannes screening and release of the Ultimate Cut. Illustrated with stills from the original and 2023 cuts of the film, the book also includes previously unpublished behind-the-scenes photos of the shoot from the Penthouse archives.
Aaron has worked as a writer in comic books, prose, film, and video games since 2006. He was also the film editor on Caligula: The Ultimate Cut. Based in Los Angeles.

A gripping 1930s-set whodunnit and love letter to Golden Age crime, this sequel to A Queer Case features amateur sleuth Selby Bigge, who must solve a murder at Lady Malcolm’s Servants’ Ball in London’s Royal Albert Hall. Perfect for fans of Nicola Upson’s Josephine Tey novels.London 1930.Selby Bigge and his aristocratic sidekick Theodora Smythe are invited to dine with Doctor Hector Fortescue and his family, discovering a web of unrest in the household. The good doctor is adamant that homosexuals can be ‘cured’ of their perversions, oblivious to the fact his son Lancelot is ‘as fruity as a pineapple’.Later that evening Theodora becomes Theo and attends the Servants’ Ball with Selby – a fancy-dress dance for servants, which attracts queers of all classes. Lancelot makes a surprise appearance dressed as Harlequin, as do other members of the Fortescue household. And before the night is out Selby and Theo will have another murder to solve.Digging deeper, the duo – assisted by the impossibly glamorous nightclub singer Lady Splendid – discover that secrets abound both above and below stairs in the Kensington home of the Fortescue family. And the stakes get even higher when Selby encounters policemen he’s met before, who’d love to arrest him for being queer. Can Selby solve the crime or will this be his last dance?

Now with new imagery throughout and continuing the story as Hammer came back from the dead in 2007 and began producing new horror films for a modern audience.Established in 1934, Hammer Films is one of the most renowned and prolific independent production companies in the world. Hammer’s productions encompass almost every genre, but it remains best known for the groundbreaking reinvention of cinematic horror that was a phenomenon on both sides of the Atlantic in the 1950s.
