In the post-industrial wasteland of Cleveland in the 1990s, artist Clay Parker created a massive body of fliers and comix unseen for decades. His work was infused with sex, drugs, booze, and a churning intensity; his black and white grotesques writhed and groped on the page. He created flier artwork for all the luminaries of the ‘90s gunk-punk underground with an emphasis on elaborate lettering and eye-gouging imagery. He drew prolifically and obsessively for a decade, then fell out of the public eye.UNTIL NOW.UP FOR THREE DAYS: THE ART OF CLAY PARKER collects hundreds of show fliers, comics, and drawings by an unknown master of black and white illustration. Part anthropological study, part cautionary tale, UP FOR THREE DAYS is the first-ever collection of this overlooked rock n’ roll smut maestro. Featuring an introduction by Cleveland comics stalwart Jake Kelly and extended commentary by artist Clay Parker, UP FOR THREE DAYS is a jaw-dropping, laugh- filled, gross-out marathon through Parker’s jagged black and white world. ADULTS ONLY. A Pave the Ocean Press / Stone Church Press Production. (immagine)
