Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was created in 1927 by Walt Disney and his team through twenty-six cartoon shorts. At the end of that initial run, Walt lost the contract to Oswald, which prompted the creation of Mickey Mouse. Over the years, Oswald became a footnote in the Disney story, until 2006 when The Walt Disney Company recovered rights to Walt's twenty-six shorts. For anyone interested in Disney origins, fascinated by early cinema, or entertained by a feisty little rabbit, this engaging and accessible volume delivers an in-depth look at Walt's first major animated success and the journey to reclaim the lost Disney films. This volume features updates on newly discovered film prints and a foreword by Disney CEO, Bob Iger. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

From his earliest years, Walt Disney aimed to expand his boundaries: physical, creative, and intellectual. Throughout his life, Walt was a frequent and enthusiastic 'tourist,' visiting destinations around the United States of America and across the globe. Whether attending a premiere, supervising a film production, or simply vacationing with his family, the 'All-American' Walt became a citizen of the world. In Travels with Walt Disney: A Photographic Voyage Around the World, seldom-seen and never-before-published photographs are showcased along with eyewitness recollections and enlightening anecdotes, arranged into a one-of-a-kind 'travel journal.' Imagine if one sketchbook had been passed down through the decades from one Disney artist to the next, with each one making a contribution before leaving it in the talented hands of another. That idea was the inspiration for The Art of Disney's Dragons. The drawings contained within this volume represent the entire range of dragon-themed development art from animators, live-action studio artists, and Imagineers. Inside find playful pencil studies of Mushu; color concepts on Figment (who was green before he became purple!); bold pencil layouts on Maleficent, and the latest character explorations of Elliot from the new live-action film Pete's Dragon. In 1945, Walt Disney and Salvador Dali began working on a project together, intended to be a short animated film called Destino. Dali partnered with Disney Legend John Hench to storyboard the film, but production came to a halt because of financial difficulties. Over fifty years later, Walt's nephew Roy E. Disney decided to give it new life. This volume showcases all 150 pieces of art created by Dali and Hench. Also, the sole piece of animation art that was filmed in 1946 is showcased in a series of images explaining how it was digitally cut apart, restored and then reassembled for the 2003 completed film version. This limited edition features a high-definition screen inside the front cover and a touch of a button plays the entire Destino film. This first-of-its-kind volume comes in a beautiful slipcase and includes a USB and wall charger and a headphone jack for a lifetime of continued enjoyment. Beginning with the creation of the Mickey Mouse cartoons, the Walt Disney Studio established an early reputation as being a technical leader in Hollywood. But Walt Disney didn't do it alone. He frequently relied on the counsel, expertise, ingenuity, and creativity of a kindred spirit, lifelong friend, and fellow virtuoso: Ub Iwerks. His illustrious career consisted of dozens of innovative contributions, large and small, to both animated and live-action motion pictures, as well as the fields of optics, film processes, and special effects. This is a one-of-a-kind tribute to an extraordinary man and an outstanding career, a record of his many inventions and accomplishments. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

With its themes of a beautiful princess, a dashing prince, and love triumphing over powerful magic, 'Sleeping Beauty' remains one of the most beloved of all fairy tales. First published in 1697, Charles Perrault's vision of the ageless, enchanted princess slumbering in her vine-encrusted tower has fascinated readers and artists for more 300 years, and this heavily-illustrated book will trace the history of that fascination, which has manifested itself in literature, fine art, poetry, music, and film. The book concludes with the development and creation of Disney's Maleficent, including interviews with Angelina Jolie and director Robert Stromberg; behind-the-scenes details and photography; costumes, props, and makeup; and plenty of movie magic!
