Beginning with the creation of the Mickey Mouse cartoons, the Walt Disney Studio established an early reputation as being a technical leader in Hollywood. But Walt Disney didn't do it alone. He frequently relied on the counsel, expertise, ingenuity, and creativity of a kindred spirit, lifelong friend, and fellow virtuoso: Ub Iwerks. His illustrious career consisted of dozens of innovative contributions, large and small, to both animated and live-action motion pictures, as well as the fields of optics, film processes, and special effects. This is a one-of-a-kind tribute to an extraordinary man and an outstanding career, a record of his many inventions and accomplishments. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

Although Disneyland opened in 1955, its culinary history dates back to 1923 when Walt Disney first arrived in Hollywood. Eat Like Walt explores the lore of each land, beginning with Main Street, U.S.A., an homage to Walt's childhood home of Marceline, Missouri, to Tomorrowland, set in futuristic 1986, a year Disney would not live long enough to see. By 1934, four years before his first feature film would be released, Mickey Mouse had made him famous enough to have a recipe published in Better Homes & Gardens magazine. Ask fans what Walt's favorite food was and most will say, 'Chili.' Chili has a cult status at Disneyland. People want to eat what Walt ate, the way he ate, where he ate it. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons is an in-depth look at the origins of the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio and their first major fully animated success in 1927 with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series. The narrative explores the historical importance of this character within The Walt Disney Company and recounts, first, the rejection of the first Oswald short, 'Poor Papa,' followed by the overwhelmingly positive reception of second short, 'Trolley Troubles,' and the ultimate loss of Disney's rights to the character and the company's modern-day journey to reclaim Disney's films. Walt Disney once said of Marc Davis, 'Marc can do story, he can do character, he can animate, he can design shows for me. All I have to do is tell him what I want and it's there! He's my Renaissance man.' As such, Davis touched nearly every aspect of The Walt Disney Company during his tenure. Experts in fine art, animation, Imagineering, and filmmaking have come together to honor Davis's contributions to their realms. Each chapter is accompanied by a wealth of artwork. This volume is both the biography and the portfolio of a man who was, on any given day, animator, Imagineer, world traveler, philanthropist, husband, and teacher. Before Ever After is a compilation of never-before-seen lecture notes from classes that were held in preparation for the production of Snow White. Walt knew that to fulfill his once-impossible dream of crafting a feature-length animated film, he had to establish an on-campus art school for his staff. He hand-picked Don Graham, a respected instructor from the Chouinard Art Institute, to hold classes on entertainment, drawing, and acting and was also innovative enough to document the thought process behind the nascent art form of feature animation.Previously unseen outside of the Disney studios, these lecture notes contain the wisdom behind Snow White, and this wisdom also provided the artistic foundation for many films to come. In 1945, Salvador Dali and Walt Disney began working on a project together, intended to be a short animated film called Destino. Dali partnered with Disney Legend John Hench to storyboard the film, but production was brought to a halt because of financial difficulties. Over fifty years later, Walt's nephew Roy E. Disney decided to give it new life. The film went on to be nominated for an Academy Award in 2004. This volume showcases all 150 pieces of art created by Dali and Hench. Also, the sole piece of animation art that was filmed in 1946 is showcased in a series of images explaining how it was digitally cut apart, restored and then reassembled for the 2003 completed film version.
