Here in this volume, from a manuscript found under unusual circumstances, we have a new jungle tale of Tarzan, one never before told. The story begins with Tarzan as a twelve-year-old boy, although he no more knows his age than do his jungle family, the mangani apes. In this land where time goes unmeasured, Tarzan encounters, for the first time, other white skins hunting the tusks of tantor, and more remarkably, the young Barsoomian Princess Atara, oblivious of her nakedness in her flight from the dreaded Cannibal King. David Innes and Abner Perry build a giant mechanical prospector with which they hope to uncover vast mineral deposits far beneath the surface. On the 'Iron Mole's' first trip, however, they discover that their vehicle can't be steered. Death seems certain, for doesn't everyone know that the center of the Earth is a molten mass of white-hot magma? Instead, what Innes and Perry discover is that the earth's crust is only 500 miles thick and that the inner surface is inhabited. This is the land of Pellucidar, a place where dinosaurs roam through the jungles, and where saber-toothed tigers hunt the mastodon and mammoth. Features an original dust jacket by Bob Eggleton, illustrated endpapers by Sanjulian, 22 tipped in color plates and 89 b&w illustrations by artist like Frazetta, Stout, McCaig, St. John, Krenkel, etc. This edition is limited to 648 numbered sets signed by the contributors including William Stout. The Moon Maid: The first manned spaceship to reach the moon discovered a world hidden from human eyes-a world of flying women, of comical cities, and of semi-human monsters who fought for power across these eerie Lunar plains. These men must battle the conflict between themselves and their alien hosts amidst the high adventure that waited for the rescue of the moon maid. After a century of war, all Earth was at peace at last, and friendly communication had been established with the planet Mars. Interplanetary co-operation made possible what neither world had been able to achieve alone -ships to bridge the distance between the worlds. But The Barsoom, the first Earth-Mars vessel, was treacherously sabotaged, thrown off course, and obliged to make an emergency landing on the moon. And there, beneath the craters, at the interior of the arid satellite, the crew found a world cut off from the rest of the solar system, inhabited by warring The Moon Maid monsters, and the decaying remnants of an ancient civilization. The Moon Men and The Red Hawk: Through the treason of a handful of men, contact between earth and the moon had become a nightmare. The world became the tool of the Lunarians, whose plundering and cruelty reduced thriving nations to poverty stricken wastelands. THE MOON MEN is the astounding story of that tragedy, and of the exploits of Julian, the human who dared fight for freedom. It is the story, also, of Red Hawk, Julian's descendant, the nomad who attempted to bring the struggle to its final desperate conclusion. Each set includes the following contained in a custom decorated and illustrated leather clamshell case: ' The Moon Maid™ Trilogy by Edgar Rice Burroughs (The Moon Maid™, The Moon Men™ & The Red Hawk™) in three separate books with 20K words not in the 1st edition, Smyth-sewn, bound in leather, (3) original dust jackets & illustrated endpapers housed with a collector's portfolio in a leather clamshell case - limited to 600 numbered sets signed by Mark Shultz (Artist Preface), and other artists and contributors.
