Extreme weather threatens all of Europe, turning the lives of its citizens inside out. The French government sends Professor Mortimer to Paris to visit his friend Professor Labrousse, the chief French meteorologist. But when the taxi driver sent to meet Mortimer at the station disappears, Mortimer becomes the prime suspect - and only his old friend Blake can clear his name.
