Writer Jason Aaron saw his early collaboration with artist Cameron Stewart on DC/Vertigo’s The Other Side named one of the Washington Post’s Best Comics of 2007. His next project, Scalped, garnered industry-wide praise and led to a guest spot on Wolverine, beginning Aaron’s long association with Logan on various titles, as well as the rest of Marvel’s merry mutants on books including X-Men: Schism, Wolverine & the X-Men and Amazing X-Men. Aaron rocked the Marvel Universe with Original Sin and unfolded a status-quo-shattering Asgardian epic across multiple Thor titles. He was the ideal choice to steer the Rebel crew of Star Wars into new adventures on the series’ return to Marvel, and he ushered in a new era for the publisher with Marvel Legacy. In the wake of that one-shot, he took on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a sprawling, multiversal run on Avengers; welcomed another iconic property back to the House of Ideas with Conan the Barbarian; and put Frank Castle in charge of the Hand in a shocking relaunch of Punisher.Artist Ed McGuinness came to prominence with his work on Harris Comics’ Vampirella and Marvel’s Deadpool. At Awesome Entertainment, McGuinness participated in a Fighting American revamp with writer Jeph Loeb, who would become a longtime collaborator. A short run on WildStorm’s Mr. Majestic led to a longer one on DC Comics’ Superman and the launch of Superman/Batman with Loeb. Firmly established as a Marvel mainstay, Medina has enjoyed lengthy runs on Ultimate Comics X-Men, Nova and Legendary Star-Lord, as well as a major role in the Avengers storyline “No Surrender.”Sara Pichelli worked in the animation industry as a storyboard artist and character designer before taking a chance in the comics business. After breaking in in her native Italy, she was a layout assistant for David Messina on Star Trek for IDW. In 2008, she was one of the winners of the ChesterQuest International Talent Search and has since worked for Marvel Comics on such titles as NYX, Runaways, Eternals, X-Men: Pixie Strikes Back and Namora. She joined writer Brian Michael Bendis on Ultimate Spider-Man, and together the pair introduced the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales, in the pages of Ultimate Fallout and Ultimate Comics Spider-Man. They continued Miles’ adventures in Spider-Man, and paired him with Peter Parker in Spider-Men and Spider-Men II. Pichelli reunited with Bendis on Guardians of the Galaxy.Artist David Marquez began his career fresh out of college as an animator on Warner Independent Pictures’ 2006 film A Scanner Darkly. He made his comics debut in 2010 with the graphic novel Syndrome, published by Archaia Entertainment, for which he received a Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award nomination. He has since gone on to draw Secret Warriors, Fantastic Four: Season One, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, All-New X-Men and Invincible Iron Man for Marvel. The event series Civil War II established him as one of the House of Ideas’ biggest artistic superstars.Italian artist Andrea Sorrentino won acclaim in the United States on titles I, Vampire and Green Arrow for DC Comics, as well as an adaptation of the video game God of War. He made a splash at Marvel illustrating Brian Michael Bendis’ two-part time-travel tale in the pages of All-New X-Men Annual and Uncanny X-Men Annual. Sorrentino reunited with Bendis on All-New X-Men and Secret Wars tie-in Old Man Logan before continuing the adventures of the aged Wolverine in the Marvel Universe with writer Jeff Lemire.Jason Masters was an art director in South Africa before taking on comics full time. He has worked for Marvel, Wildstorm and DC on titles such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Wolverines, Marvel 100th Anniversary Special: X-Men, Red: Frank, Red Faction: Armageddon, Nightwing and Batwoman. Masters has drawn the adventures of iconic superspy James Bond extensively for Dynamite Entertainment.Italian illustrator Stefano Caselli broke into American comics during the early 2000s with work on titles including Marvel’s Mutant X and Thunderbolts. He enhanced his reputation on series such as Avengers: The Initiative, Secret Warriors and Avengers Assemble before playing a key role in the rotating art team on Dan Slott’s Amazing Spider-Man and joining Jonathan Hickman on Avengers. Caselli collaborated with Brian Michael Bendis on a groundbreaking Invincible Iron Man run featuring Riri Williams as a new armored hero, and joined Gerry Duggan on the seafaring X-series Marauders.Spanish artist Javier Garrón studied architecture before his work on webcomics and blogs got the attention of DC comics. He went on to draw Batman Eternal, Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse, Batgirl: Future's End and more. Garrón made his Marvel debut with Cyclops in 2014 and enjoyed a string of successes — on titles including Secret Warriors, Star-Lord, Ant-Man and the Wasp, the Secret Wars tie-in Inferno and Miles Morales: Spider-Man — before his extensive collaboration with Jason Aaron on Avengers.Sure, Dale Keown’s first work for Marvel came on the not quite illustrious Nth Man, the Ultimate Ninja – but that wouldn’t be the title for which he would earn his richly deserved reputation as one of modern comics’ most exciting stylists. That honor would go to his run on Incredible Hulk – where, paired with writer Peter David, he would help take the gamma-irradiated character’s title to the zenith of its popular and creative acclaim. Keown left Hulk following a phenomenal three-year run to head to Image, where he created the memorable Pitt comic and character. Since then, he has contributed art to The Darkness (Image) and re-teamed with Peter David on the one-shot Hulk: The End.
