Sunny (Aaron Kwok) is a na?ve circus performer who dreams of inheriting his father's knife-throwing skills. However, his hostile colleagues bully him, forcing him to remain a lowly clown. But on a tour of Malaysia, Sunny and the other performers find a cave once occupied by the Japanese during World War II. But instead of finding treasure, they all come into contact with a mysterious chemical that grants them superhuman powers... which all but Sunny use to launch a reign of terror and crime across Hong Kong. To battle them, Sunny becomes the city's lone superhero with the help of a reporter (Shu Qi) and two supernatural investigators from China (Wu Jing and Zhang Jingchu).
