esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
#1 New York Times bestselling author Garth Stein and acclaimed cartoonist Matthew Southworth (Stumptown) team up again for the second book in The Cloven series, an action-packed coming of age story about a mutant from the Pacific Northwest. In the eagerly anticipated Book Two, Dr. Kenneth Langner, a world-renowned geneticist and creator of the Cloven species, reveals himself to Seattle Stranger reporter Jake Arthur, who continues his in-depth research on the homeless encampment known as 'the Jungle.' When Langner turns up dead the next morning, Arthur realizes he's into something far more sinister than he realized. Meanwhile, in an effort to evade the paramilitary that have begun rounding up Cloven, Tuck is taken to Halcyon Meadows, a bizarre retreat of the true insiders-Supreme court justices, ex-presidents, movie stars, rock musicians, health gurus-those who are really in the know and who gather there every summer to worship goats. And to celebrate the existence of the first human/goat hybrid: The Cloven. And that's when things really start to get weird. Moody and mysterious and atmospheric as a fever dream, The Cloven is an action-packed coming of age story about James 'Tuck' Tucker, a genetically modified human organism known as a Cloven. The story follows Tuck's breakneck journey across the Pacific Northwest as he searches for his true home and identity. Written by Garth Stein (author of The Art of Racing in the Rain) and drawn by Matthew Southworth (co-creator of the graphic novel series Stumptown), two of today's bestselling and critically acclaimed storytellers, this is a raucous, funny, and dynamic series of sci-fi graphic novels. Set against the tumultuous political backdrop of late '60s Chicago, My Favorite Thing Is Monsters Book Two is the eagerly awaited conclusion to one of the most acclaimed graphic novels of the past decade. Presented as the fictional graphic diary of 10-year-old Karen Reyes as she tries to solve the murder of her upstairs neighbor, Anka Silverberg, a holocaust survivor, while the interconnected stories of those around her unfold. In Book Two, dark mysteries past and present continue to abound in the tumultuous and violent Chicago summer of 1968. Young Karen attends the Yippie-organized Festival of Life in Grant Park and finds herself swept up in a police stomping. Privately, she continues to investigate Anka's recent death and discovers one last cassette tape that sheds light upon Anka's heroic activities in Nazi Germany. She wrestles with her own sexual identity, the death of her mother, and the secrets she suspects her brother Deez of hiding. Ferris's exhilarating cast of characters experience revelations and epiphanies that both resolve and deepen the mysteries visited upon them earlier. Visually, the story is told in Ferris's inimitable style that breathtakingly and seamlessly combines panel-to-panel storytelling and cartoon montages filled with B-movie horror and pulp monster mag iconography. The hilarity never stops in this fourth collection of The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers stories, featuring the Brothers' convoluted Mexican odyssey and Fat Freddy's Cat solo escapades. In this early epic of the hilarious and politically correct Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas, and Fat Freddy skip out on their rent and decide to cool it down Mexico way where they are chased off the beach, encounter a Mexican mystic, lose all their money, get thrown into jail, escape into an ancient underground labyrinth, and wind up on a secret poppy farm run by the U.S. military - you know, a typical tourist itinerary. (Oh, did we say, 'politically correct'? Just kidding!) Plus: Fat Freddy's Cat stars in solo adventures, including the mini epic, 'I Led Nine Lives.' The 7th Voyage and Other Follies is the fourth release in this special series of seven graphic albums. The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics have sold more than 45 million copies worldwide in 16 languages. These painstakingly restored hardcovers, featuring die-cut covers, are the first North American bookshelf editions in more than thirty years. The Freak Brothers, the animated series now streaming on Tubi, stars Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, John Goodman, and Tiffany Haddish. Gilbert Shelton, a founding father of the underground comix movement, is the creator of the iconic comix characters The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Fat Freddy's Cat, and Wonder Wart-Hog. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2012. Dave Sheridan became involved in the burgeoning comix scene while also working as a commercial illustrator and album cover artist. His Dealer McDope was syndicated through Rip Off Press, and in 1974, he began collaborating with Gilbert Shelton on Freak Brothers strips and stories, a role he continued until his death in 1982. A blistering critique of digital media and a kaleidoscopic depiction of consumer culture, Eden II is both fanciful and satirical, a combination of deft cartooning and virtuosic storytelling. In the grungy, punk-inflected world Kenny Wroten creates, a cast of disaffected young characters struggle to find their purpose in life. Faced with a dying Earth and numbingly useless jobs, protagonists Ellis and Dr. Otis Heck invent an immersive virtual reality game, Eden II. But when Heck betrays Ellis and sells the game to a mysterious corporation, the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur. As each chapter highlights a new character in the ensemble, the game's impact grows as the world becomes consumed by fantasy. Coming off the heels of their acclaimed queer comics Cannonball and Crimes, Eden II is Wroten's magnum opus, establishing them as a breakout graphic novelist. Philosophical, sarcastic, self-assured, Eden II is a vital work of the moment that positions Wroten alongside recent comics luminaries like Emily Carroll, Caroline Cash, Isabel Greenberg, Melanie Gilman, and Tillie Walden. Reminiscent of the stylized angst of Gregg Araki and Jamie Babbit's works, Wroten's imagery in Eden II reflects the blighted pastiche of Andrei Tarkovsky's Stalker-and they have suffused that pastiche with a dark sense of humor and technologically enhanced moral ambiguity. A dizzying, psychedelic and psychological journey of a man in search of himself, rendered in hyperenergetic, eye-popping colored pencils. Tick, tick, boom. Open the cover of this graphic novel to unleash a bombastic bomb blast of frenetic line work, a cacophony of vibrant color, and an action-packed narrative that whirls and swirls in all directions like the furious, roaring winds of a mushroom cloud. Enter the blast radius of this conflagration of imagination and experience how brilliantly its creative fires burn. A Book to Make Friends With marks the explosive English language debut of Flemish cartoonist Lukas Verstraete. What begins as a Pulp Fiction-inspired heist, in which two masked gangsters rob a passerby of his mysterious briefcase, soon snowballs into a psychedelic journey full of chase scenes, shapeshifting, soul possession, spiritual hallucinations, and unrequited romance. It all culminates in an epic, breathtakingly rendered battle between good and evil. At turns playful, philosophical, and kinetically riotous, you've never seen a graphic novel quite like this. Printed as an oversized hardcover edition encased in a luxurious slipcase, this book is as much a gorgeous aesthetic object as an engrossing work of fiction. Discover the history of hip hop in graphic novel form - this omnibus collection of the New York Times best-selling series includes over 140 pages of extras in a deluxe hardcover for the first time! Ed Piskor's Hip Hop Family Tree has been a global phenomenon and perennial bestseller since the first (of four) volumes was published in 2013, spawning multiple printings, fourteen comic books, and the author's wildly popular YouTube comics channel, Cartoonist Kayfabe (with fellow cartoonist Jim Rugg). Yet the series has never been collected under one cover. Until now. This omnibus collection includes the original 360-page series with over 140 pages of extra material: a cover gallery of every HHFT book and comic book cover and back cover Piskor ever created, pages from the HHFT comic book series that have never been collected, new annotations of the entire series by Piskor, and much more. Hip Hop Family Tree is the entertaining, encyclopedic history of the formative years of the music genre that changed global culture. Piskor's cartooning crackles like Kirby and takes you from the parks and rec rooms of the South Bronx to the night clubs, recording studios, and radio stations where the scene started to boom, capturing the flavor of late 1970s New York City in panels bursting with obsessively authentic detail. With a vigorous and engaging Ken Burns-meets-Stan Lee approach, the battles and rivalries, the technical innovations, the triumphs and failures are all thoroughly researched and lovingly depicted. Like the acclaimed hip hop documentaries Style Wars and Scratch, Hip Hop Family Tree is an essential cultural chronicle and a must for hip hop fans, pop-culture addicts, and anyone who wants to know how it went down back in the day. In 2022, Igort, an acclaimed Italian cartoonist of Russian descent, began taking down the testimonies of Ukrainians during the Russian invasion. He turned them into online comics journalism, collected here for the first time in English. 'The collapsing bodies look like marionettes. The clouds of dust captured by drones have a surreal beauty. The crumpling buildings look like houses of cards. Even so, it's upsetting, panic-inducing. How can you not think about the human lives, just like your own, buried under that rubble?' In this real-time work of graphic journalism (posted serially on Facebook), the cartoonist Igort uses the medium of comics to depict the telephone testimonies of Ukrainians as Russia invaded in 2022. In vignettes that grow ever more horrifying - infiltrating spies, bombed cities, recorded accounts of children whose parents were murdered in front of their eyes, and more - Igort also relays the events that led up to the invasion, such as the torture and killing of human rights activists. He tells stories of individual struggle and suffering with no resolutions because they are still happening: Of Tetiana, who fled in the middle of the night with her children and whose car broke down on the steppe. And Maksim, who lived in Belgium and went for a five-day family visit and who could not return home when his mother died of COVID due to martial law. In art styles that veer from cartoony simplicity to photorealistic, depending on what the moment demands, Igort paints portraits and scenes of ordinary people trying to survive among almost 10,000 civilian deaths. How War Begins is an important document of the past, the present, and the future. Igort (Igor Tuveri), b. 1958, is a prolific award-winning Italian cartoonist and the founder of Oblomov Press, a comics publisher. He is best known for his graphic novel 5 is the Perfect Number, which won the Book of the Year award at the Frankfurt Book Fair. He is also a film director and directed the movie adaptation in 2019. His previous works of graphic journalism include Russian Notebooks and Nomadic Pages. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Mark Twain's lambasting of phony, war-mongering patriotism reinterpreted by one of our finest contemporary illustrators. Written in 1910 in his 70th year, Mark Twain, having lived through 14 wars waged by his own country on others, declined to publish this poetic despairing reproof against patriotism. His regular illustrator Daniel Beard even urged Twain to issue the piece, to which the author replied, 'No, I have told the whole truth in that, and only dead men can tell the truth in this world. It can be published after I am dead.' It took 13 years after his passing for that prophecy to be fulfilled - and now, another 102 years later, the legendary illustrator and graphic designer Seymour Chwast (himself 92 years young) has fulfilled Beard's dream of enriching the fable with illustration. Chwast brings every aspect of his skills to this interpretation: drawing, design, typography, type design, pastel painting, and computer color all sit alongside each other with Twain's text in pages that expand and pace the original. With another century and a quarter of warfare passed since its writing, Chwast's artwork echoes advances in technology but Twain's message about the pointlessness of patriotism as a marketing hook for death is only more pointed today. SEYMOUR CHWAST (b. 1931) is one of the most highly regarded graphic designers in American history. He has executed hundreds of advertising campaigns, designed multiple popular typefaces, illustrated or been the subject of dozens of books, and created several childrens' books of his own. Referred to as 'the left-handed designer,' he has worked social commentary into his design for decades, including through his biannual journal The Nose. Chwast founded the design group Push Pin Studios with Milton Glaser, Edward Sorel, and Reynold Ruffins in 1954 and continues to head and work via the company at age 92. This colorful graphic novel follows lovable losers Jay and Kay, whose quotidian adventures are often hilarious and occasionally poignant, calling to mind everything from Peanuts to the work of Simon Hanselmann. John Pham's simple-seeming stories of best friends Jay and Kay and their misfit friends weave in and out, with unexpectedly sad twists and comical turns, all steered by Pham's mastery of the cartooning craft and the language of comics storytelling. Pham's bold use of bright color and high hilarity draws the reader in, only to slowly reveal extra layers of psychological acuity, character depth, and existential gravitas. For all of its emotional richness, at its heart, J+K remains laugh out loud funny throughout, whether driven by Pham's gift for memorable one-liners, his expertly delivered sight gags, or the inherent humor in his character designs and their physicality on the page. This new paperback edition will feature a number of the extra items that were included in the hardcover edition package - collectible trading cards, a mini magazine with inserts, a sticker sheet, and a fold out map and poster - which will all be printed as interior pages within the book. Combined with Pham's brilliant use of color and innate grasp of printing, packaging, and graphic design, J+K is a chiseled gem of comics perfection. JOHN PHAM is a cartoonist and animator living in Los Angeles, CA. He is a Xeric Grant recipient, multiple Ignatz Award nominee, and his work has been featured in two volumes of Best American Comics. In this resplendently painted graphic novel, a poet and a dancer form a beautiful connection in a bleak world. When Petar returns home to civilian life after his two-year conscription in the ex-Yugoslavian army, he finds himself adrift. Even amidst the most raucous, late-night parties, he feels detached from it all, like a ghost haunting the living. But a serendipitous encounter with Liza, a dancer with joie de vivre about her, brings a flood of vibrant color into his gray life. Their lyrical romance forms an oasis in a bleak world, until his inner demons start to reveal themselves. A heartfelt character study, this graphic novel paints the portrait of a complex protagonist often at odds with himself. At times, Petar writes soulful, life-affirming poetry, while at others he falls into spells of depression and self-destruction. Petar & Liza is a work of meticulous expressionism that reflects Miroslav Sekulic-Struja's vivid artistic vision. In dazzling gouache, Sekulic-Struja conjures an earthy, street-level view of humanity, bringing to life bohemian environs of dive bars, back rooms, and crowded cityscapes. He paints a world in darkness and turmoil, in which rays of sunshine occasionally peek through. MIROSLAV SEKULIC-STRUJA (b. 1976, Rijeka, Croatia) is a self-taught painter, illustrator, and novelist, whose rich and profound works seek to chronicle the underrepresented struggles of a generation lost to war. He is best known for his Pelote trilogy, which tells the Dickensian story of orphans in wartime. In 2010, his graphic novel The Man Who Bought a Smile received the Young Talent Award from the Angoulême International Comics Festival. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

An aspiring yuppie romance is tested when a young couple cross paths with a very unlikely femme fatale in the form of an older single mother and ice cream server. With Marco and Stella's lukewarm romance already on the ropes, Daniele's insistent intrusions aren't helping. But when Marco meets Lulu, a single mother and unlikely femme fatale with a mysterious background, he develops an interest that soon veers into obsession and awakens in him a problematic and long dormant sexuality. With a voyeuristic gaze, Vila lays his characters bare, observing them in their hypocrisies, insecurities, and unmentionable desires. Vila's cartooning is alive. Working in a mostly naturalistic mode, he distorts his characters just enough to imbue them with a visceral charge that fuels the narrative's lust. A psychological and grotesque character drama that doubles as an erotic thriller about erotic obsession, mourning, a sense of inadequacy, and the search for surrogates of affection, Milky Way won prizes and garnered considerable acclaim upon release in Italy in 2022. Miguel Vila was born in 1993 in Padua, Italy where he lives. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and was awarded the Best New Author prize at the 2022 Lucca Comics Festival. Beloved French cartoonists Lewis Trondheim and Nicolas Kéramidas (Donald's Happiest Adventures) return for another epic saga sending Mickey and Donald on the Beagle Boys' globetrotting trail! When Peg Leg Pete and the Beagle Boys shrink and steal Scrooge McDuck's Money Bin, Mickey and Donald must track them down… across lost cities, ancient lands, under the sea, in the air, and…into space?!? In a hilarious satire that will entertain all ages, Mickey's Craziest Adventures introduces its epic tale as if it were a rare 1965 Disney classic, deemed too wild for publication and saved only in fragments - but in fact, modern comics masters Lewis Trondheim and Nicolas Kèramidas have created an exciting all-new album-length stand-alone Disney thriller, drawn in a kinetic indie-comics style and presented like a classic vintage work, hiding the fact that it's actually shamelessly spoofing Silver Age comics clichés! Lewis Trondheim, one of the co-founders of the comics collective L'Association, lives and works in Montpellier, France. Nicolas Kéramidas studied animation at the Gobelins School of Images, then went on to nine years of animation work at Disney's Montreuil studio. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Small-town weirdness scales new comedic heights in Altergott's long-awaited graphic novel. When Tom 'The Acid King' Cottonwood is sentenced to prison for dealing, he vows to exact revenge on the judge and all of Flowertown, U.S.A. One year later, when hillbilly Henry Hotchkiss violates the single principle binding the members of the local men's group, the 40 Acres Club - preserving his virginity - he proactively excommunicates himself to the woods in shame, prompting his distraught best friend, Doofus Anderssen (he of straw boater and Beatle haircut over a permanent five-o'clock shadow), to organize a community search. But little does he know that Cottonwood has been paroled and is making plans in those same woods to fulfill his destiny as 'The Acid King' - in the form of a deadly act of terrorism he calls 'Scorpio Rising.' Altergott's farcical earnest cast of smalltown bums, outlaws, hippies, bikers, and babes - with names like Father John Beggarweed, Stink Hair Stu, Rubberneck Nelson, Muttonchop O'Rourke, et. al. - intertwine in a web of crime and mystery involving satanic ritual, religious tracts curiously popping up around town, naked fishermen, and psychedelic drugs, driving the narrative to ever-greater depths of hilarity (even though none of his characters are in on the jokes). Blessed Be reads like an R-rated Mad magazine parody of Our Town written by John Waters and drawn by Mort Drucker and Wally Wood. Altergott both skewers and celebrates an eerie realm of '70s men's magazines and small-town conservatism. A cult favorite since the 1990s amongst intellectuals and philistines alike for his impeccably crafted brand of lowbrow humor, cartoonist Rick Altergott has never crafted a full-length graphic novel - until now.
