esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
One morning in June 1941, in a quiet village in central Lithuania, 8-year-old Algiukas awakes to the sound of Russian soldiers pounding on the door. His family is given 10 minutes to pack up their things. An airless freight train carries them to the snowy plains of the Siberian taiga. There, in the distant, dismal North, they begin a life marked by endless hunger and unrelenting cold. And yet the darkness of exile is lightened, for Algiukas, by flights of imagination. Drawing on her father's exile in Siberia, writer Jurga Vile brings to light a neglected episode from the history of the Soviet Union. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

An intoxicating, visually intense portrait of legendary runner Emil Zátopek Emil Zátopek is arguably the greatest Olympic champion of all time. The Czech runner's three gold medals at the 1952 Helsinki Summer Olympics, for the 5,000 meter, 10,000 meter, and marathon, is an achievement that has never been matched. His success as a runner made him a national hero, but as a public figure, outspoken and unafraid to take a stand, he was equally impressive. Even before the Helsinki Games, Zátopek had scored a remarkable victory, successfully pressuring the communist regime to allow his colleague Stanislav Jungwirth, who until then had been excluded on political grounds, to compete. In Zátopek, Jan Novák and JaromÃÂr 99 trace the extraordinary life and times of the great Olympian, from his first meeting with Dana, the love of his life, to the victories that would ensure his lasting legacy. Miskatonic University, Arkham, 1908. Professor Nathaniel Peaslee collapses in front of a class of students, only coming to his senses five years later. Horrified to discover that his body has been far from inactive during the intervening period-and plagued by unsettling and outlandish nightmares-Peaslee attempts to piece together the truth behind the missing years of his life. A chilling journey through time, space, and the recesses of the mind, this adaptation gives terrifying form to one of H.P. Lovecraft's final tales. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

In 1895 the Lumière brothers invented the cinematograph. Less than a year later, 23-year-old Alice Guy, the first female filmmaker in cinema history, made The Cabbage Fairy, a 60-second movie, for Léon Gaumont, and would go on to direct more than 300 films before 1922. Her life is a shadow history of early cinema, the chronicle of an art form coming into its own. A free and independent woman who rubbed shoulders with masters such as Georges Méliès and the Lumières, she was the first to define the professions of screenwriter and producer. She directed the first feminist satire, then the first sword-and-sandal epic, before crossing the Atlantic in 1907 to the United States and becoming the first woman to found her own production company. Guy died in 1969, excluded from the annals of film history. In 2011 Martin Scorsese honored this cinematic visionary, 'forgotten by the industry she had helped create,' describing her as 'a filmmaker of rare sensitivity, with a remarkable poetic eye and an extraordinary feel for locations.' The same can be said of Catel and Bocquet's luminous account of her life. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Which kings couldn't speak English, or stammered when they could? Who were 'Softsword' and 'Sailor Bill'? Which king had 10 children with his mistress but none with his queen? Which kings were crowned twice? Which queen reigned for only nine days? Which king disappeared? Here is a comic strip with a difference, an alternative (and funnier) Bayeux Tapestry tracing every king and queen from Alfred the Great to Charles III-each of their vivid pen-and-ink-portraits encapsulating the personal quirks and dramatic social change of their reigns. This single-sheet poster-sized booklet unfolds the politics, passions, and pageantry of the English and later British Royal Family, from 871 to 2023: the tyrants, eccentrics, warriors, and murderers, as well as the saints, scholars, patrons, and philosophers, whose joint story this is. More than four hundred years ago Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616) sent his irrepressible optimist of a hero out to tilt at windmills - and Don Quixote and his philosophical squire, Sancho Panza, still remain among the world's most popular and entertaining literary figures. In this adaptation of the Cervantes' classic, Rob Davis uses innovative paneling and an interesting palette to bring the Knight-Errant to life. This is sequential storytelling and art at its finest as we follow Don Quixote on his search for adventure and chivalrous quests - and he will not be defeated by foes such as logic, propriety, or sanity! Samantha and George are about to launch into a sabbatical year in the quaint Mexican town of Oaxaca. For Samantha, the trip is a reconnection to her past and an opportunity to complete her novel; for George, it is an unsettling step into the unknown. As the couple depart for Oaxaca, a monarch butterfly begins its annual migration south from Canada to Mexico. The story of its remarkable journey, woven into the fabric of Ruins, draws striking parallels with the challenges faced by Samantha and George as they adapt to their new surroundings. 'I very soon had an opportunity to interpret Dora's nervous coughing as the outcome of a fantasized sexual situation.' An Analysis of a Case of Hysteria, often referred to as 'Dora,' is one of Sigmund Freud's most influential case studies. Focusing on the psychoanalyst's investigation of the emotional life of a suicidal 18-year-old, it offers a fascinating insight into his methods of working and interpretation. Freud's analysis of the patient, who he refers to as Dora, leads him to uncover a remarkably troubled and conflict-ridden family history. In this graphic novel adaptation, Richard Appignanesi and Oscar Zarate bring to life this landmark of psychoanalysis, as well as capturing the gripping story of a deeply troubled but fascinating patient. The image of Samia Yusuf Omar running for last place at the 2008 Beijing Olympics will forever be imprinted in the minds of all who saw it: The lean Somalian, wearing knee-length leggings and a baggy T-shirt, came in seconds behind her competitors. What the cheering crowd couldn't know then was what it took to get there. An Olympic Dream follows Omar's second attempt to represent her country at the Olympics, this time in London. Herman is a reclusive, straight-laced street cleaner - or so it seems to those he works with on the city's waterfront. But he has an extraordinary hidden talent: the ability to transform his appearance at will. When the cinematic genius MIO calls an open audition for her new movie, Herman joins the audition line. As he waits, swept up in the frenzy of creative ambition that has overcome the city, his past life becomes increasingly remote. Dazzled by Herman's ability to adapt to any role, MIO deems the rest of the cast redundant. When the cult director's new film premieres, with Herman performing every role, it doesn't get the reaction she expects. Spectacularly drawn, Herman by Trade is a captivating graphic novel about art, identity, and making space for self-expression. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Texas, 1872. With the Civil War over, exploration has resumed in the territories to the west of the Mississippi, and the geologist Stingley is looking to capitalize. Together with photographer Oscar Forrest, who catalogues the terrain, and their young assistant, Milton, Stingley strikes out into territory that might one day support a new civilization. But this is no virgin land. As the frontiersmen move west, it becomes clear that the expedition won't go unchallenged. Stingley has led them into a hostile region: the native Comanches' last bastion of resistance. The Smell of Starving Boys is an intense Western about the clash of two worlds: one old, one new; one defined by rationality and technology, the other by shamanism and nature. For the high-flying, heavy-drinking advertising boss Tom Banbury, the art of persuasion relies on an infiltration of the consumer's mind. In the case of his colleague and confidante Nikos Gazidis, the overdeveloped sense of empathy that makes him so well suited to the business has resulted in a strange psychiatric condition. Nick has unwittingly crashed into the consciousness of his boss. While Tom drinks to forget the troubles of his life, Nick is forced to confront a past that is not his own: a childhood scarred by the small wars waged by an abusive father - and by the events that brought these battles to a close. When Nick enters the panicked silence of the Abbey, a fortress for the rich and unstable, his sister guards him from the visiting Tom Banbury. But can this peculiar bond be broken? Or has Nikos Gazidis taken an empathetic leap too far? (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Somewhere in the British Isles, at the end of a neglected road, there is a village called Lip Hook. For its inhabitants, the village is more than the end of the road; it's the end of the world. Beyond it, there is nothing but mist-shrouded marshland. Few travelers take the road to Lip Hook, but one foggy night, a car speeds perilously toward the village. The driver is a dangerously beautiful woman, the passenger a man with a gunshot wound and a suitcase containing a treasure he has risked his life for. The two fugitives seek shelter at the Hanged Man Inn, where the woman persuades the innkeeper to accept payment in kind. As days pass and the woman extends her services to more of Lip Hook's men, among them the village priest, a false faith grips the community, and soon and reason, logic, and humanity begin to disappear. In the Middle Ages, surgery was performed by barbers due to their skill with sharp instruments. In the mid-19th century, a 'grand exhibition' of the effects of laughing gas inadvertently led to the discovery of anesthesia. Three decades later, Louis Pasteur enjoyed a crucial breakthrough in his search for vaccinations because his assistant decided, against his orders, to take a vacation. Here, cardiac surgeon and professor of medical history Jean-Noël Fabiani stitches together the most significant and intriguing episodes from the history of medicine, from chance breakthroughs to hard-fought scientific discoveries. A brave coming-out story of 40-something Louise, who, while married, realizes that she prefers women. Forty-something Louise is married to Peter, with whom she has four children. They live in a big house, and on paper everything looks fantastic. But Louise has a secret that she barely dares to admit to herself: a burning desire for women. When I Came Out is the story of a woman who has met society's expectations throughout her life but finally realizes that she has not been true to herself. From first-time creator Anne Mette Kærulf Lorentzen, this bold and elaborate piece of autobiographical work addresses personal anxieties about coming-out later in life and documents her jump from a safe, well-established, heteronormative, middle-class life to living openly as a lesbian. With beautiful drawings using anthropomorphic animal characters, Anne Mette Kærulf Lorentzen tells her coming-out story with charming sensitivity and a loving humor.
