esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

For the first time in English comes the critically acclaimed manga from John Tarachine, the author of Witch of Thistle Castle, that's perfect for fans of BL Metamorphosis and Hirayasumi! Umiko, a grandma, realizes that she has the same desire to make movies as university student Kai—and soon she enrolls in Kai’s film school!“It’s not the movies you like…you like watching the people watching the movies.”Just what are you going to do with the rest of your life? It’s the question you’ll always have to answer, no matter your age. Umiko Chino is a 65 year-old retired woman in mourning for her late husband. Remembering how they used to watch films together, Umiko goes to the movie theater for the first time in years, where she meets Kai, an attractive, ambiguous young man who studies filmmaking at a nearby art school. They would seem to have nothing in common, except for this—both of them sometimes like to look more at the way the audience reacts to a movie than the movie itself. Kai believes Umiko has the same deep desire he possesses to experience how people respond to something they made… and challenges her to stake the rest of her life discovering that thrill.Soon Umiko surprises herself by enrolling in the same film school as Kai. But sailing into this new sea, she’s suddenly inside the currents of her fellow students’ lives, a much younger generation that she struggles to understand, driven by their own passions and their own relationships. Who’s really experienced at life, and is it old age or observation that brings wisdom? And does what you’re looking for change when you look with your eyes instead of through a camera lens…?

Steve Parkhouse - was born and raised in postwar London, amidst chaos, poverty, and a singular lack of comics. This dire situation was remedied when some Scottish friends of his father began sending weekly relief packages of comics published by D.C. Thompson, the premier British publishers of the day. Needless to say, they were devoured avidly until he discovered American comics on spinners in the gift shops of various holiday resorts. Steve then began to attempt his own comics style of drawing and writing, eventually being accepted ona graphic design course at his local polytechnic. There he met fellow aspirant Barry (Winsor) Smith and they began hatching a cunning plan.It was simple, they decided; we'll go to New York and get work at Marvel Comics. What could possibly g wrong? Eighteen months later, at the age of eighteen and nineteen respectively, they were both working in the Marvel Bullpen in New York, getting the lie of the land and learning the trade from experts. Then U.S. Immigration decided thiswas a bad plan, and asked them (not too politely) to get the hell out. Nothing's changed much, has it? So, after ducking and diving and hiding in various apartments all over the city, the adventurers voluntarily deported themselves back to Britain, with six months of working experience to fall back on. With that qualification, Steve secured an editorial post in the Juveniles Department of IPC Magazines. There he met his future wife, Annie... was promoted to staff writer and his writing career began in earnest. The rest, as they say, is a total mystery. Fifty odd years on, he is still practicing the craft of storytelling with the express intention of getting it right. He thinks that you should be the judge of his efforts. He would also like to thank Mike Richardson and everybody at Dark Horse for their continued support and all those dollars. Special thanks go to Philip Simon, a scholar, a gentleman and a fine editor.PETER HOGAN has been writing comics for over thirty years now. Notable items include Sandman spin-off stories for Vertigo, and Tom Strong and related titles for Alan Moore's America's Best Comics line. After these works, Hogan and artist Steve Parkhouse co-created Resident Alien for Dark Horse, which is now on its ninth miniseries and has been adapted into the acclaimed TV show of the same name. He may well write more comics in the future.

The epic dark fantasy manga continues with Miura’s longtime assistants Studio Gaga, under the supervision of his closest friend, Kouji Mori.Having escaped the horrific devastation of Elf Island only to be boarded by unknown raiders, the crew of the Seahorse find that they have intruded into the territorial waters of the vast Kushan Empire!Sunk into his own personal darkness, Guts hardly seems to care as the Kushan lead him away in chains, even as Roderick, Farnese, Serpico, Morda, Isidro, Schierke and the other survivors are taken in as refugees. Kentaro Miura created his first manga, Miuranger, at age 10, drawing the series for an audience of his classmates; by high school he had moved into Japan’s dynamic self-publishing (doujinshi) scene. Futanabi, a manga Miura had submitted for admission to art school, was nominated for Best New Author Work in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine (today the home of Blue Lock and Rent-A-Girlfriend). In 1989, Miura began the dark fantasy manga series Berserk, his life’s work, with the Japanese publisher Hakusensha. Adapted into three anime TV series and a series of films, Berserk has sold approximately 70 million copies worldwide. Miura-sensei passed away suddenly in 2021 at the age of 54, leaving a legacy of epic storytelling, and a readership that only continues to grow.Studio Gaga is the team of assistants with whom Kentaro Miura worked to create Berserk; the studio currently consists of Kurosaki, Akio Miyaji, Nobuhiro Hirai, Naohide Nagashima, Hideaki Sugimoto, Shunki Fujimoto, and Takumi Yamamoto. With the passing of Miura-sensei in 2021, Studio Gaga is carrying on the story and art of the Berserk saga under the supervision of Kouji Mori. In a 2023 interview with major Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun, Mori remarked that while he gives advice on drafts during the process of making Berserk, the final drawings are the work of Studio Gaga. “Kurosaki, the chief of Studio Gaga, has extraordinary drawing skill, as does the rest of their staff. I believe that after they complete Berserk, they will become famous in the manga world.”Kouji Mori was best friends and an artistic collaborator with Kentaro Miura since they met at age 15 as aspiring manga creators; in high school the pair even attempted to break into the industry together, with a co-authored manga submitted to Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. Mori’s first major manga work made its debut in 2000, the 18-volume Holyland, later adapted into live-action TV shows in both Japan and Korea. In a 2016 interview published by Crunchyroll, Miura commented that the Guts/Griffith dynamic of Berserk was inspired by his relationship with Mori, “but sometimes I would be Guts, and sometimes I would be Griffith.” Following Miura’s passing in 2021, Mori remarked to The Asahi Shimbun that he would supervise the continuation of Berserk based upon his remembered conversations with Miura on his plans for the manga’s future direction: “I tried to recall every detail to tell the story. And I am only doing episodes Miura told me about. In terms of dialogue, I am only telling the story as Miura related it to me. Naturally, it will be incomplete. But I think I can tell the story almost in the way that Miura wanted.”

Chicago in the 1990s—a city of crime that means good business for two young women: bounty hunter partners Rally and Minnie-May, the Gunsmith Cats!Fans will love this crime manga classic from the ‘90s from the character designer of Bubblegum Crisis, printed in an over-sized format and high-quality paper.Rally Vincent runs Gunsmith Cats—a gun shop in Illinois with her partner, demolitions expert and former call girl Minnie-May Hopkins. But Rally’s “real” job doesn’t pay the bills, her hobby does. And her hobby is bounty hunting, bringing the most wanted men and women in the Chicago area to justice—dressed in her sharp suit and tie, and driving her Shelby Cobra GT 500!In Gunsmith Cats Omnibus vol. 3, custody battles can get nasty—but rarely as nasty as the situation Rally and Minnie-May are caught up in. Michael Stone, the famed hypnotist and stage magician known professionally as “Mister Smart” has jumped bail on a hit-and-run, which made him Rally’s business…and then kidnapping gets added to the rap sheet, as Smart is set up by his estranged wife on a false charge of abducting his own daughter, Jeena. But this is much more than just a family dispute, as behind the personal drama is a scheme to use Smart’s skills to rip off $20 million in Mob money…with Jeena’s life as penalty if he doesn’t pull off the trick! Then, Rally’s trouble-prone pal, master thief Misty Brown, gets into more trouble than ever when she decides to steal Bean “Roadbuster” Bandit’s beloved car Buff on a whim. Not only is Bean a tad upset, but Misty is now in terrible danger, and not necessarily from the Roadbuster—because certain ruthless people want to lay hands on the cargo he was transporting. Sure, it was only blank sheets of paper, but there’s thousands of them…and it seems they’re the exact same special kind used by the US Mint! For mature audiences.“…[Sonoda’s] work on series such as Bubblegum Crisis and Gall Force helped define the look of 1980s anime. His first major manga, Gunsmith Cats, proved that Sonoda is a talented writer as well. For the first time in English comes the critically acclaimed manga from John Tarachine, the author of Witch of Thistle Castle, that's perfect for fans of BL Metamorphosis! How do you do, fellow kids? In hopes of writing realistic film dialogue, grandma Umiko goes barhopping and clubbing with her young art school classmates!Motivated by the mysterious young Kai to enter art school and become an aspiring filmmaker, Umiko’s first attempt at a movie gets a less than rousing response from her instructor, who critiques the dialogue she wrote as not reflecting how young people actually talk. Saying that a director needs to strike a balance between their intended vision and what the audience will perceive, he suggests to Umiko that the problem isn’t her objectivity, it’s the 65 year old’s…lack of experience!Invited to go out drinking by Yamaguchi, a classmate born in a different century, Umiko breaks out of her normal retiree routine, seizing the chance to learn how the youth of today socialize. She may be able to handle her beer and the beat on the club floor…but she gets much more social interaction than she bargained for when she overhears in the restroom Yamaguchi drunkenly confess their love to Kai!

John Tarachine (a pen name) was born in 1989 in Hyogo prefecture in the Kansai region of Japan. While at art school, she tried her hand at filmmaking, but realized she was better suited to working alone and decided to pursue manga as a career. After graduating, she set out on a trip around the world, promising herself that she would get a real job if she didn’t make it as a manga artist by the time she was twenty-five. She narrowly met that personal deadline when she made her debut in 2015 with Good Night, I Love You, a tale of a man who travels to London to fulfill his mother’s dying wish. She followed this up with a manga adaptation of the Netflix series Sex Education before tackling fantasy in Witch of Thistle Castle. She came to feel that she was more interested in drawing shojo manga, however, and when an editor at the shojo magazine Mystery Bonita reached out to her about working together, the result was the critically acclaimed The Credits Roll into the Sea. She also draws BL manga under the name John Taratsumi. Jocelyne Allen is a Japanese translator and interpreter who splits her time between Toronto and Tokyo. She has translated hundreds of short stories, novels, and manga, including the Eisner Award-winning titles Lovesickness by Junji Ito and Onward Toward Our Noble Deaths by Shigeru Mizuki, and the Harvey Award-winning My Lesbian Experience With Loneliness by Nagata Kabi, as well as the critically acclaimed Our Dreams at Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani, and the classic shojo manga The Rose of Versailles by Riyoko Ikeda. As an interpreter, she has worked with Japan’s most celebrated authors and artists, including Sayaka Murata, Inio Asano, Mieko Kawakami, and Natsume Ono. She can be found online at kaikatsu.ca, blogging about books at brainvsbook.com, or noodling about translation and manga on Blue Sky (@brainvsbook). The Credits Roll Into the Sea is the acclaimed translator’s first work for Dark Horse!
