esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

by Kim, Seth & Simon Deitch Kim Deitch, creator of the acclaimed Fantagraphics collection Shadowland and the cover feature interview in this month's The Comics Journal #292, has recruited his siblings to produce a unique, all-new 'picto-fiction' pocket book. Alternating between heavily illustrated near-comics stories and outright prose pieces, Deitch's Pictorama is a testament to the Deitch family's amazing yarn-spinning abilities! Kim's lengthy picto-story 'The Sunshine Girl' leads off - a typically Deitchean tall tale involving bottle cap collectors, drug dealers, family secrets, and the innocents who wind up in the middle of the hullaballoo. Seth's prose short story, 'Children of Aruf,' features a man and his very unusual dog; 'Unlikely Hours,' a paranoid picto-story about a conspiracy of sentient rats written by Seth and illustrated by Kim; the prose novella 'The Golem,' once again written by Seth and decorated with a series of superb pencil illustrations by Simon; and finally Kim's autobiographical 'The Cop on the Beat, the Man in the Moon and Me.' This entire 'Deitch treat' is wrapped up with an introduction by legendary Academy Award-winning animator, cartoonist and illustrator and proud papa Gene Deitch. By George Herriman KONCLUDING THE KOMPLETE KRAZY KAT KOLOR SUNDAYS! Krazy and Ignatz 1943-1944 covers the last two years of Herriman's master-piece. With this volume, Fantagraphics and its precursor Eclipse will have reprinted the entire 29-year run of the Krazy Kat Sundays! Like Charles Schulz, George Herriman was a cartoonist to the very end. Aside from collecting the last masterful year and a half of 'Krazy Kat,' this new volume will offer a retrospective look at Herriman's life at the drawing table, offering many never before seen samples of his original art (which the cartoonist often lovingly hand-colored for friends). Gathered from many scattered collections, these pages testify to Herriman's invererate passion for drawing. Rounding out the volume are scores of Krazy Kat daily strips also from Herriman's last years, further testament to the cartoonists vitality. Series editor and veteran comics historian, Bill Blackbeard, also provides a concluding, wide-ranging essay on the life and art of Herriman. More than a simple reprint collection, Krazy and Ignatz 1943-1944 portrays the full range of a cartoonist who remained an artist all his life. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

By Trina Robbins $29.99 / Hardcover 128 pages / full-color / 9.5' x 13' STEP ASIDE, GIBSON GIRLS, YOU'VE MET YOUR MATCH For over thirty years Nell Brinkley's beautiful girls pirouetted, waltzed, Charlestoned, vamped and shimmied their way through the pages of William Randolph Hearst's newspapers, captivating the American public with their innocent sexuality. In 1907, at the tender age of 22, Nell Brinkley came to New York to draw for the Hearst syndicate. Within a year, she had become a household name. Flo Ziegfeld dressed his dancers as 'Brinkley Girls,' in the Ziegfeld Follies. Three popular songs were written about her. Women, aspiring to the masses of curly hair with which Nell adorned her fetching and idealized creations, could buy Nell Brinkley Hair Curlers for ten cents a card. Young girls cut out and saved her drawings, copied them, colored them, and pasted them in scrapbooks. The Brinkley Girls took over from the Gibson Girls.Nell Brinkley widened her scope to include pen and ink depictions of working women. Brinkley used her fame to campaign for better working conditions and higher pay for women who had joined in the war effort, and who were suffering economic and social dislocation due to acting on their patriotism. Unlike most of her contemporaries, she drew women of different races and cultures.Today, except for a small group of avid collectors, she is unjustly forgotten. But no longer. The Art of Nell Brinkley collects Brinkley's exquisitely colored full page art from 1913 to 1940. Here are her earliest silent movie serial-inspired adventure series, 'Golden Eyes and Her Hero, Bill;' her almost too romantic series, 'Betty and Billy and Their Love Through the Ages;' her snappy flapper comics from the 1920s; her 1937 pulp magazine-inspired 'Heroines of Today.' Included are photos of Nell, reproductions of her hitherto unpublished paintings, and an informative introduction by the book's editor, Trina Robbins. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

by Igort Manga fans will relish Baobab, a series set, at least initially, in Japan at the turn of the last century (during the Meji era), when a small, sickly, orphaned boy on the outskirts of Tokyo grows up hearing the stories his grandmother tells of her youth as the daughter of a Navy officer. Igort's ambitious series traces an alternate history of the very beginnings of the comic strip artform, with subtle nods toward such masters as Winsor McCay and George Herriman. The groundbreaking, women-edited comics anthology that served as an antidote and rebuke tomale-dominated underground comix is now collected in a single volume for the first time. In 1972, underground cartoonists Joyce Farmer and Lyn Chevli produced T*ts & Cl*ts - a funny, rowdy, raucous underground comix series about female sexuality that one reviewer described as 'the ultimate in vaginal politics' - and became the first American women ever credited with writing, drawing, and publishing their own comic books. T*ts & Cl*ts quickly became an anthology showcase for other women cartoonists, a feminist answer to Zap, and featured the work of Mary Fleener, Roberta Gregory, Krystine Kryttre, Lee Marrs, Carel Moiseiwitsch, Trina Robbins, Dori Seda, among others. Like other underground comix, T*ts & Cl*ts leaned into being lewd in order to satirize women's experiences with so-called sexual liberation. Featuring stories about birth control, abortion, menstruation, masturbation, and more, Tits & Clits featured intimate politics which occasionally clashed with contemporaneous feminist concepts about sex and sexuality. As Chevli put it: their work had something to offend everyone. (In 1973, conservative legal authorities in Orange County deemed their work pornographic and even threatened the two editors with arrest on obscenity charges.) Now, for the first time in half a century, a new generation of readers will be shocked, entertained, enlightened, and scandalized by the bold satirical cartoonists that comprised the band of sisters in T*ts & Cl*ts. In addition to reprinting the seven-issue run of the T*ts & Cl*ts series, this collection also includes in their entirety two classic solo comics from 1972 written and drawn by Farmer and Chevli- Abortion Eve and Pandora's Box. Also included is an introductory essay providing context to T*ts & Cl*ts' place in the history of women's cartooning by the book's editor, Samantha Meier. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The acclaimed series welcomes Killofer, the acclaimed French cartoonist whose work has previously been seen only in the collection, 176 Apparitions of Killofer. MOME also features regulars Jonathan Bennett, Sophie Crumb, Andrice Arp, Paul Hornschemeier, Kurt Wolfgang, Eleanor Davis, and more. The fabulous Dash Shaw and the inimitable Nate Neal also join in on the fun. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

By John Pham Two white supremacist brothers live in the midst of an 'ethnic' urban flood along with a dog they've trained as a weapon. A household made up of three renters, a landlord who never leaves her attic bedroom, and her son, who insists on wearing a sheet over his head all the time. A pack of ravenous stray dogs chase a cat down a desolate alleyway. The lonely, grimy silhouette of Los Angeles, ever-present. All these separate threads weave through the first part of 221 Sycamore St., an ongoing story about the desperate need for family in two distinct households that share an indelible yet mysterious connection.Sublife is the engaging new series from emerging talent John Pham (Epoxy, MOME). Similar in format to other great one-man anthology comics before it (Eightball, Acme Novelty Library, Jim), Sublife presents a variety of stories told in a range of styles and voices, all demonstrating a singular vision. Issue one features the first self-contained chapter of 221 Sycamore St. as well as St. Ambrose, a fractured memoir of the author's grade school alma mater.John Pham won the Xeric Grant in 2000 and has been featured in publications such as Giant Robot, The Face, MOME and The Comics Journal.
