Acme X-Ray, published as a giclee on paper, is inspired by 'Dynamite Diagnosis,' a limited-edition sericel produced in 1993 by Warner Bros. Animation Art. The character setup was originally created in-house by Warner Bros. animators working within their Classic Animation department. The background was originally rendered by veteran background painter, Hector Martinez, who, in addition to the Looney Tunes, has also worked on the Batman and Superman animated series. The details - Bugs' and Daffy's diplomas from Acme University and Quack University, respectfully, and Taz's look of shock of the x-ray that reveals a lit stick of dynamite inside his stomach - bring to life the inspired lunacy of Warners' Looney Tunes. Some of the most popular and famous comic book artists from both sides of the Atlantic have contributed to these limited edition prints, portfolios, and bookmarks. Popular comics artist John Bolton painted 'Blue,' a haunting watercolor from 1994, printed on white paper stock, measuring 12' x 15', and signed and numbered to an edition of 350. Barry Windsor-Smith depicts two of fantasy's most famous heroines - Red Sonja and Valeria - in a set of ten 2 1/2' x 8' bookmarks, originally printed in 1975, showing them as the blue Moon and the red Stars. Fantasy worlds come to life in a series of portfolios, each featuring six 11' x 14' plates. Brad Gorby's 'Death Dancers' show women using their weapons of steel to cut swaths of destruction before them. Kim DeMulder's 'Sirens of Destruction' show the seductive side of fantasy, with six women using their wares to lure in the unwary. Rich Larson's 'Dragon Ladies' depicts six women and the dragons bonded to them. Finally, Simon Bisley brings his unique touch to the barbarian Slaine in a series of dramatic, full-color paintings. A PREVIEWS Exclusive! For the first time, three exclusive and unique limited edition, Nelvana animation production portfolios, drawn from the Nelvana archives, are available for sale. The traditional animation process involves a multi-step process. Beginning with a pencil drawing that is then transferred to an acetate cel. The next step is to paint the reverse side of this cel in the official colors for the show. Finally this cel is placed in front of a hand painted background and photographed as a single frame of animation. Only a small portion of the pencils and cels created during the production of a show are complete and appropriate for presentation. Each item in the portfolio is unique and each portfolio is one-of-a-kind animation production art. Each of these three portfolios contains only original animation production artwork and is limited to a strict run of 850 copies. All portfolios come with a numbered, certificate of authenticity. Animation cels and pencils are 10' x 12' in size each set in a 12 3/4' x 15' cardboard envelope. From the mind of Jim Lee comes this portfolio of animation artwork from 1994's Jim Lee's WILDC.A.T.s animated series.
