DARK HORSE

Dark Horse continues its series of vintage-style statuettes featuring the best characters from comic books. Modeled after products that were popular in the 1930s and 1940s, the new statuettes being produced by Dark Horse are designed and manufactured consistent with earlier 'syroco'-style figures. This month we announce #10 in the series, The Goon, from Eric Powell's Eisner Award-winning series. Produced in a limited edition of only 550 hand-numbered copies, The Goon figure is fully painted and ready to display. Each hand-numbered statuette comes carefully packaged in a custom-tooled, full-color, litho-printed tin box. At the forefront of Kotobukiya's new ARTFX Premier series is the god of thunder, Thor Odinson from Marvel's Avengers Fresh Start series! This 1/10 scale statue was crafted down to the finest detail using digital sculpting, giving this expertly crafted collector's piece an exquisite appearance alongside lifelike detail. The craftsmanship in this piece continues from the sculpting to the painting. Unlike other pieces which follow the pattern of a simple base coat with shading. ARTFX Premier re-evaluates the standards for figure painting. Each individual piece of the statue is layered with several types of paint, giving the finished product an unprecedented sense of beauty and depth. With these techniques in mind, Kotobukiya's craftsmen imagined what kind of materials may come out of the realm of Asgard to create the unique paint job on Thor's metal and leather armor, which transforms in color depending on the angle as it catches light. Measuring just under 3.5 centimeters (1.5 inches) in length, the statue's face is meticulously crafted and full of photographic lifelike detail. The statue comes in sophisticated packaging overflowing with elegant details, including a marble inspired motif as well as an original illustration based on the figure. Additionally, these limited edition statues will come with a certificate that includes a collector number printed in gold, certifying each piece as a one-of-a-kind original.
