Writer J. Michael Straczynski made pop-culture history with the epic TV series Babylon 5. In 1999, Straczynski penned Top Cow’s Rising Stars, leading to an offer from Marvel to write Amazing Spider-Man, a title he revolutionized. “JMS” went on to write Supreme Power, Fantastic Four, Bullet Points, The Twelve and a fan-favorite revival of Thor. The latter helped inspire Marvel’s Thor feature film, on which he shares a writing credit. JMS’ screenplay for Changeling was directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Angelina Jolie, while his other movie credits include Underworld: Awakening and World War Z. For DC Comics, he has written iconic characters Superman and Wonder Woman.After establishing himself on Eternity’s Ex-Mutants and First’s Badger, Ron Lim went cosmic with a six-year penciling run on Silver Surfer, followed by a collaboration with Jim Starlin on the Warlock/Thanos Infinity multi-miniseries saga. In addition to writing half the Punisher’s longest-running series and four of the title’s Annuals, Mike Baron penned the Punisher: Origin of Microchip miniseries and three Punisher one-shots: Empty Quarter, G-Force and Intruder. Quickly, Mayerik picked up assignments for Supernatural Thrillers, Creatures on the Loose and Conan before being given the Man-Thing feature in Adventure into Fear, where he designed Howard the Duck. Since his tenure at Marvel in the 1970s, Mayerik has produced artwork for other comic-book publishers and role-playing-game companies.Larry Stroman penciled X-Factor during the early ’90s before beginning work on his creator-owned title Tribe. His work on notable comics characters includes Uncanny X-Men, Black Panther and the Heroes Reborn version of Iron Man for Marvel; DC’s Darkstars; and Wildstorm’s WildC.A.T.s. Stroman recently returned to the pages of X-Factor, re-teaming with author Peter David for a well-received story arc.

Howard Mackie got his start at Marvel during the late 1980s as an editor and then a writer. One of his first series as full-time scribe was 1990’s massively popular Ghost Rider, which introduced the alter ego Danny Ketch to the mythos of the Spirit of Vengeance. He also wrote prolifically in the Spider-Man and X-Men titles of the ’90s.Following stints at AC Comics and Eclipse, Erik Larsen replaced fan-favorite Todd McFarlane on Amazing Spider-Man and quickly became a legend in his own right, chronicling Spidey’s cosmic-powered and powerless phases. His other Marvel credits include Defenders, Fantastic Four, Nova and Wolverine. At DC, he has penciled Doom Patrol, Outsiders, Teen Titans and others. Larsen’s greatest fame may be as creator of Savage Dragon at Image Comics, which he helped found and where he served as publisher for four years.John Romita Jr. is a modern-day comic-art master, following in his legendary father’s footsteps.
