PEANUTS THEN AND NOW FIGURE SETS On sale Apr 21 Snoopy Then and Now Set $24.99 Charlie Brown Then and Now Set $24.99 The year 2010 marks the sixtieth anniversary of Charles Schulz's enduring creation Peanuts. When the strip debuted in 1950, the look and style of the characters were different than today. All of the many licensed products have reflected today's look; few, if any, are in the original style. As Dark Horse's contribution to the anniversary, we decided to bring the original look back with these twin-packs of small vinyl figures. Each set shows the characters as they were in the old days and what they are like now. We found poses taken straight from the strips, and these specific panels will be depicted on the packaging. All four are in a running pose, which makes them look well placed together as a set. Each figure measures close to four inches in height and is on a grass-green base (not pictured). Dark Horse is pleased to launch the Marvel Classic Character Series 2 line of Syroco-style statuettes. The second release in this series is Sub-Mariner, a.k.a. Prince Namor, who is often referred to as one of Marvel's very first mutants. Originally created by writer/artist Bill Everett, Sub-Mariner publicly debuted in 1939. Prince Namor is a character that is a mix of both hero and villain. This pose is loosely based off of the cover of Sub-Mariner #1 from May 1968. In Legend of Korra, an enormous metal statue is located on a small island off the shores of Republic City. It depicts a teenage Aang dressed in traditional Air Nomad attire. In the figure's left hand is a staff featuring the airbending symbol on its upper end. The figure's left foot rests on a slightly higher surface in the form of a lotus flower. The pedestal on which its other foot stands is octagonal in shape, with upturned tips at each vertex surrounded by railings. Dark Horse Deluxe, in coordination with Nickelodeon and the Avatar and Korra creators, has exactingly reproduced this piece as a hand-painted limited-edition collectable.
