esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

From the cinematic mind of Atsushi Kaneko (Bambi and Her Pink Gun) comes a contemporary reimagining of the timeless, Eisner Award-winning Dororo, by 'God of Manga' Osamu Tezuka (Buddha, Astro Boy). This is a tale of rage. Rage against hypocrisy, injustice, exploitation, and the wrongs done to a child who grew into a righteous killer…. Complete in three volumes, Search and Destroy transplants the vengeful action of Dororo from feudal Japan into a dystopian future where mercenary robots known as 'creatures' serve the human elite and victimize the city's scrabbling, desperate masses. The violent death of one of these creatures connects an orphaned thief named Doro with a mysterious girl in a stinking animal hide that conceals deadly cybernetic implants. Who is this mysterious girl? How is she killing, one by one, the city's most twisted and powerful creatures? Originally serialized from 2019-2021 in the Japanese manga monthly TezuComi, Search and Destroy is a brilliantly-crafted thriller about an outsider looking for meaning and vengeance in the unjust world that took everything away from her. Kaneko populates a stunning, high-contrast setting that echoes postwar Cuba as much as Tokyo with an unforgettable cast of scrappy heroes and skin-crawling monsters on a nonstop ride full of action and suspense. This authorized retelling updates the rebellious '60s spirit of the original Dororo for the equally tumultuous 2020s, mixing Tezuka's signature dark yet playful storytelling sense with Kaneko's own wide range of influences, which include Western cartoonists like Daniel Clowes and Charles Burns as well as filmmakers like David Lynch. The result is not only one of the best sci-fi manga of recent years, but also one of the most visually rich and distinctive works of graphic storytelling in any genre or language. Atsushi Kaneko is a Japanese manga artist from Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture. His two books, Bambi and Her Pink Gun and Soil, have both been published in France. Bambi has also been published in English and Soil has been adapted into a television drama series. Osamu Tezuka (1928-1989) was a Japanese manga artist, cartoonist, and animator. His prolific output, pioneering techniques, and innovations in genre storytelling earned him such titles as 'the Father of Manga,' 'the Godfather of Manga,' and 'the God of Manga.' This entrancing collection of graphic short stories explores the occult forces that touch upon our everyday lives. Within our visible world, there are hidden worlds full of unknown forces whose nature we cannot fathom. Ocultos swirls together a series of stories that form a bridge between our world to the next, where thoughts and dreams can bend and shape reality. A woman in therapy is haunted by disturbing visions; a lonely widower feels a presence wafting through her house; a little boy sees bright red lights flash across the night sky. Vivid dreams, poignant symbols, fleeting sensations - all clues that point to an understanding of what lies beyond. Celebrated for her previous graphic novel, Totem, Spanish comics artist Laura Pérez presents another entrancing vision of magic and mystery. Artfully rendered in her signature wispy, atmospheric pencil lines punctuated by splashes of color, Ocultos is a spiritual, reflective work that will leave you spellbound. In this early epic of the hilarious and politically correct Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas, and Fat Freddy think they're in the money when they establish their own low-fare one-vehicle bus line in the full-color (painted!) adventure, 'The $29.95 SF to NYC Non-Stop Whiteline Cannonball Express.' But that cheap price means lots of unexpected detour - especially when they decide to let the passengers vote on the stops along the way! (Of course, they forget to include the cost of gas in their plans, and they don't seem to understand the meaning of 'express.') Then, the brothers give Fat Freddy money to score some weed, and he proudly returns with…an electric train set? Other Freak follies in this volume include all the color strips from the Freak Brothers' adventures as originally published in High Times and Playboy magazines. (Oh, did we say, 'politically correct'? Just kidding!) Plus: Fat Freddy's Cat stars in the black-and-white 'Chariots of the Globs' and the color 'The Burning of Hollywood,' along with other solo outings! High Times and Misdemeanors is the fifth release in this special series of seven graphic albums. The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics have sold more than 45 million copies worldwide in 16 languages. These painstakingly restored hardcovers, featuring die-cut covers, are the first North American bookshelf editions in more than thirty years. The Freak Brothers, the animated series now streaming on Tubi, stars Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, John Goodman, and Tiffany Haddish. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

In this volume: What insights can Krazy glean from an art exhibit of the old masters? What happens when Krazy applies for a job as a debt collector? What's with all the balloons? And volcanos? Why is a giraffe wandering lost in the desert? These are just some of the questions in this collection of the surreal adventures of Krazy Kat, Ignatz, and Offisa Pup. With incisive essays by Herriman scholars, and reproductions of rare Herriman ephemera, this entry in our ongoing series makes it plain why this is considered this to be 'the greatest comic strip of the 20th Century.' Legendary cartoonist Peter Bagge triumphantly returns to the series that defined a generation with this all-new Hate graphic novel. Buddy Bradley and Lisa Leavenworth, now middle aged with a free-spirited young adult of their own, confront their own poor decisions as young people in the grungy 1990s. Expertly shifting between the present day (in full color) and their Gen X heyday (in glorious, crosshatched black-and-white), we learn for the first time the story of how Buddy met Lisa, Stinky, George, and Val. Meanwhile, Buddy is forced to come to terms with the tragic - and covered-up - circumstances of Stinky's untimely death in the original Hate series, while navigating elder care, contemporary politics, family and friendships. Hate Revisited! expertly showcases Bagge's inimitable humor and knack for character, and the generational shift lends an unexpected gravitas to their lives. While the original Hate is indelibly rooted in a key pop cultural era, the themes and characters of Hate remain timeless. Misanthropy never gets old! (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The first of a new six-volume series collecting the sketches and notes behind Hal Foster's creation of the Prince Valiant comic strip. In the works for several years, Hal Foster's Prince Valiant Sketchbooks: An Illustrated Memoir presents never-before-published Prince Valiant art by the strip's legendary creator, Hal Foster, collected in a series of six annotated portfolio volumes. Part sketchbooks, part biography, part tutorial, part memoir-Hal Foster's Prince Valiant Sketchbooks is an unprecedented look into Foster's personal life and creative process during his final nine years on the strip. It's also a fascinating look behind the curtains as Foster coached and interacted with his chosen successor: John Cullen Murphy. Produced with the full permission and participation of the Foster and Murphy families, this series is a testament to author and Prince Valiant historian Brian M. Kane's research prowess and determination to bring Hal Foster's creative process to light. This uniquely intimate view of Foster's creative process is a long-awaited dream come true for Prince Valiant fans. Over the course of these volumes, Kane annotates with painstaking clarity and thoroughness 366 penciled layout pages, 40 character sketches, and 577 text pages of Foster's descriptions and instructions for each panel. Also featured are an additional 143 pieces of art, mostly by Foster, 100 photographs detailing his life and career, and 123 personal letters and notes, all adding immeasurably to this exploration of Foster's life and art, as well as his collaboration with Murphy. by Various Another great Arf book for 2008, featuring one of the greatest cartoonists of all time - Milt Gross! The Gross-ness begins on the cover with a stunning painting by the Count of Cartoons depicting Uncle Sam as he grinds up a sea of immigrants into a parade of classic comic strip characters. During the 1920s Gross drew a comic strip that left the last panel blank for aspiring artists. Arf series editor Craig Yoe has drafted a Who's Who of contemporary cartoonists to complete Gross' unfinished masterpieces, among them Art Spiegelman, Patrick McDonnell, R. Crumb, Bil Keane, Johnny Ryan, Jaime Hernandez, Mike Mignola, and more! For the history buff, Comic Arf delivers with showcases of Dudley Fisher, Arch Dale, and a hard-hitting chapter entitled 'The 15 Most Powerful Anti-War Cartoons of History.' The multiple Harvey and Eisner Awards series collecting one of America's true national treasures, Krazy Kat. This is the fifth in a series reprinting George Herriman's early 20th Century comic strip masterpiece. Most of these strips have not seen print since originally running in Hearst newspapers over 70 years ago. Each volume is edited by the San Francisco Cartoon Art Museum's Bill Blackbeard. Krazy & Ignatz 1933-1934 will be a hot-baked brickbat of a volume, adance with nearly two full years of the Sunday Krazy Kat (Herriman did not use color until 1935), snug between multiple pages of Herriman extras, not the least of which include an introduction by Blackbeard, a new 'Debaffler' page, and a stunning layout front and back and throughout by the inimitable Chris Ware! Krazy Kat is a love story, focusing on the relationships of its three main characters. Krazy Kat adored Ignatz Mouse. Ignatz Mouse just tolerated Krazy Kat, except for recurrent onsets of targeting tumescence, which found expression in the fast delivery of bricks to Krazy's cranium. Offisa Pup loved Krazy and sought to protect 'her' (Herriman always maintained that Krazy was gender-less) by throwing Ignatz in jail. Each of the characters was ignorant of the others' true motivations, and this simple structure allowed Herriman to build entire worlds of meaning into the actions, building thematic depth and sweeping his readers up by the looping verbal rhythms of Krazy & Co.'s unique dialogue. THE SEQUEL TO THE 2003 PERENNIAL CLASSIC, PALOMAR When Gilbert Hernandez climaxed his award-winning 'Palomar' series at the end of Love and Rockets' original run by leveling the tiny Central American hamlet, many disappointed readers thought he had written off those beloved characters for good. Not so. Hernandez soon picked up the story of Luba (who had not only been one of the dominant characters of the 'Palomar' series but had also starred in its prequel 'Poison River'): Now older but perhaps not so very much wiser, the hammer-wielding matriarch had relocated to the United States of America, where she continued to contend not only, as an immigrant, with a brand new and not always welcoming culture but also her tempestuous extended family - her eccentric sisters Fritz and Petra, her nurturing but often disapproving cousin Ofelia, her many children ranging from the fully grown (Guadalupe and Doralis) to the latest brood sired by her husband Khamo (Casimira, Socorro, Joselito, and Conchita) - many of them in turn each with her own network of family members, lovers, and friends (including a number of other escapees from Palomar). These 'America' stories - over 80 of them, ranging from quick one-page blackout sketches to bona fide graphic novellas - were originally published in a number of different comics and reprinted in a trilogy of oversized paperbacks. Luba finally collects in one compact, affordable hardcover the entirety of these tales, showcasing Gilbert Hernandez's wicked wit, great compassion, and uncanny understanding of how human beings love, squabble, and ultimately find a way to make it through this life. Tales of sex, violence and rock and roll rub elbows with stories of love, sensitivity, and understanding - and thanks to the miraculous alchemy of Hernandez's peerless storytelling, what emerges is a coherent, exciting, funny portrait of one of the richest group of fictional characters ever to spring from a cartoonist's mind. The balls-to-the-wall series returns this summer with more action and mayhem like only Johnny Ryan can deliver-again starring CF, the shirtless outer space barbarian antihero who remains damned to the Prison Pit (a vast wasteland beneath the crust of a barren planet, populated by the worst of the worst, where violence is the only law and evil creatures roam free). In Prison Pit: Book Two, the second graphic novel in a trilogy, CF tries to get revenge against the evil behemoth that took his arm, and then winds up playing an unwilling participant in an elaborate escape attempt from the Pit. Prison Pit blends Ryan's fascination with WWE wrestling, grindhouse cinema, first-person action video games, Gary Panter's 'Jimbo' comics, and Kentaro Miura's 'Berserk' Manga into a brutal and often hilarious showcase of violence like no other comic book ever created. Originally serialized in Love and Rockets Vol. II but never completed until now, Julio's Day is Gilbert Hernandez's latest graphic novel, a masterpiece of elliptical, emotional storytelling that traces one life through a series of enthralling vignettes. While Julio's Day has some elements in common with Hernandez's Palomar cycle, this is very much a standalone story that will help cement his position as one of the strongest and most original cartoonists of our time. As we reach the 19th volume in this best-selling series collecting arguably the greatest comic strip of all time, Charles Schulz is still as inventive, hilarious, and touching as ever. Between 1966 and 1985 a generation of writers emerged that changed the face of American comic books forever. Many were fans every bit as much as they were professionals, creative artists working from an understanding of what felt right on the comics page forged by years of close scrutiny above and beyond the final sales figures. Some were tempered by exposure to new waves in cinema, new voices in writing, and new comics from Europe and Japan. Coming to comics at a time when the financial awards were poor and the chance for ownership of what one created was even poorer, these writers breathed new life into the dying icons of the past. Writers like Len Wein, Steve Englehart, Gerry Conway, Harlan Ellison, Marv Wolfman, Denny O'Neil, Mark Evanier, Mike Baron, and Alan Moore infused comics like X-Men, Captain America, and Swamp Thing with a progressive social outlook that ran directly in the face of decades of simplistic might-makes-right pseudo-moralizing. Some made their careers in other writing fields but toiled in comics out of a sense of loyalty and passion; others became comic book writers just out of their teens and never left. They were America's comic book children come home. The Comics Journal Library: The Writers celebrates the ascendancy of writer-driven mainstream comic books with a series of revealing, in-depth interviews, many conducted at the height of their influence.
