esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
by Various Another great Arf book for 2008, featuring one of the greatest cartoonists of all time - Milt Gross! The Gross-ness begins on the cover with a stunning painting by the Count of Cartoons depicting Uncle Sam as he grinds up a sea of immigrants into a parade of classic comic strip characters. During the 1920s Gross drew a comic strip that left the last panel blank for aspiring artists. Arf series editor Craig Yoe has drafted a Who's Who of contemporary cartoonists to complete Gross' unfinished masterpieces, among them Art Spiegelman, Patrick McDonnell, R. Crumb, Bil Keane, Johnny Ryan, Jaime Hernandez, Mike Mignola, and more! For the history buff, Comic Arf delivers with showcases of Dudley Fisher, Arch Dale, and a hard-hitting chapter entitled 'The 15 Most Powerful Anti-War Cartoons of History.' by Various; edited by Glenn Head The cartoon anthology that puts the kicks back in comics strikes again! Climb on board the Hotwire Express for another electrifying joyride - from the sublime to the ridiculous - and all parts in between. Volume 2 includes some of the strongest narrative comics around. Tim Lane's autobiographical strip, 'Spirit,' portrays the grittiness, desperation, and terror he experienced as a bum, riding the rails. 'Niacin,' by Mary Fleener, is the hilariously sordid story of a hallucinatory date with a drug dealer. Mack White deconstructs the western myth of the OK Corral gunfight in 'Showdown at Hustler's Ridge.' Glenn Head's 'Oozing Dread!' tells the Twilight Zone-ish tale of Wilhelm Reich, madcap genius-inventor of the orgone box. 'Communicable Disease' by Carol Swain shows the descent of a young Scottish lass into impoverished hell. Dutch artist Tobias Tak delivers a fantastical retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk with his comic, 'The Ten Inch Giant.' All this and more, wrapped in a absolute killer cover by Tim Lane! During the 1950s, Abe Goodman-brother of Marvel Comics' publisher Martin Goodman-was the largest buyer of cartoons in the world. Publishing out of New York City under the Humorama banner, Goodman churned out scores of cheap digest-sized magazines boasting inventive titles like Romp, Stare and Joker that featured hackneyed jokes, cheesecake photos and the publications' bread and butter, single panel pin-up cartoons.Whiles the digests were often a dumping ground for cartoonists past their prime and for unused inventory that was too risqu? to be sold elsewhere, they were also a proving ground for neophyte gag cartoonist or a welcomed alternative to the daily grind of comic book sweatshops. And nowhere was this more evident than in the 1950s and 1960s when the digests featured the likes of Playboy's Jack Cole, Archie's Dan DeCarlo and glamour girl legend Bill Ward. In addition to these three pin-up cartooning luminaries, other notable who contributed to the pages of the Humorama digests included longtime illustrator Jefferson Machamer; Basil Wolverton, who influenced a generation of underground cartoonists; Mad's Dave Berg ('The Lighter Side'); and future syndicated cartoonists George Crenshaw ('Belvedere'), Bill Hoest ('The Lockhorns') and Brad Anderson ('Marmaduke').With this latest volume in its popular pin-up series, Fantagraphics continues its commitment to showcasing the best of the classic pin-up cartoon artists. Drawing from private collections of original art and thousands of Humorama digests, editor Alex Chun has once again selected the best of these long out-of-print images. Between 1966 and 1985 a generation of writers emerged that changed the face of American comic books forever. Many were fans every bit as much as they were professionals, creative artists working from an understanding of what felt right on the comics page forged by years of close scrutiny above and beyond the final sales figures. Some were tempered by exposure to new waves in cinema, new voices in writing, and new comics from Europe and Japan. Coming to comics at a time when the financial awards were poor and the chance for ownership of what one created was even poorer, these writers breathed new life into the dying icons of the past. Writers like Len Wein, Steve Englehart, Gerry Conway, Harlan Ellison, Marv Wolfman, Denny O'Neil, Mark Evanier, Mike Baron, and Alan Moore infused comics like X-Men, Captain America, and Swamp Thing with a progressive social outlook that ran directly in the face of decades of simplistic might-makes-right pseudo-moralizing. Some made their careers in other writing fields but toiled in comics out of a sense of loyalty and passion; others became comic book writers just out of their teens and never left. They were America's comic book children come home. The Comics Journal Library: The Writers celebrates the ascendancy of writer-driven mainstream comic books with a series of revealing, in-depth interviews, many conducted at the height of their influence.
