esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
The complete two volume adventures of the notorious art trio of Carole, Alex, and Sam. Just in time for the release of Olympia this season comes a boxed set collecting The Grande Odalisque and Olympia, which form the complete, two volume saga of master art criminals Carole, Alex, and Sam. Specializing in the theft of fine art, the trio reinvents a profession that has lost much of its fun and insolence since its heyday in the early 20th century. After successfully stealing La Grande Odalisque by Ingrés from the Louvre (in Fantagraphics' acclaimed 2021 edition of the same name) and taking on the French Special Forces, the trio eyes Manet's Olympia in the eponymous sequel. Collectively the two books paint a vivid portrait of three of the most memorable characters in recent comics memory. Forming a trio as formidable as their protagonists, Bastien Vivès, Jérôme Mulot, and Florent Ruppert deliver a wickedly funny and explosive, grand symphony of adventure in this two book series, collected for the first time in a handsome, hardcover slipcase. A deep dive into the first 50 issues of the Hernandez Brothers' acclaimed comic series, this scholarly book seeks to answer the question: What makes Love and Rockets such an enduring classic of the medium? Love and Rockets by Gilbert, Jaime, and Mario Hernandez is one of the greatest comic series ever created. However, running consistently for 40 years and encompassing a diverse array of characters, settings, and cultural influences, this literary universe can be daunting to explore. With Reading Love and Rockets, writer Marc Sobel offers an accessible entry point into L&R, an invaluable resource to both new readers and fans who want to deepen their understanding of the series. Reading Love and Rockets hones in on the first 50 issues of the series, tracking the evolution of the characters and storylines, as well as the Hernandez Brothers' growth as artists and writers across this 15-year span of creation. Breaking down each issue in sequence, Sobel blends together his own sharp-eyed observations with analysis from a variety of scholars, critics, and fans to provide a well-rounded perspective on the series. Plus, explorations into topics as wide-ranging as magical realism, women's wrestling, and the Southern California punk scene reveal the fascinating influences at the heart of these stories. Readers daring enough to embark on this illuminating journey through Palomar and Hoppers 13 will return with a richer appreciation for this masterpiece of graphic literature. Luxuriously illustrated throughout with scenes from the comic. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

The debut volume in this series, Peanuts Every Sunday: 1952-1955, compiles the first four years of the strip. This collection offers a fascinating peek at Schulz's creative process, as iconic characters such as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Schroeder, Linus, and Lucy quickly evolve from their initial renderings to the elegant stylizations we've all come to know and love. In this early epic of the hilarious and politically correct Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas, and Fat Freddy think they're in the money when they establish their own low-fare one-vehicle bus line in the full-color (painted!) adventure, 'The $29.95 SF to NYC Non-Stop Whiteline Cannonball Express.' But that cheap price means lots of unexpected detour - especially when they decide to let the passengers vote on the stops along the way! (Of course, they forget to include the cost of gas in their plans, and they don't seem to understand the meaning of 'express.') Then, the brothers give Fat Freddy money to score some weed, and he proudly returns withâ¦an electric train set? Other Freak follies in this volume include all the color strips from the Freak Brothers' adventures as originally published in High Times and Playboy magazines. (Oh, did we say, 'politically correct'? Just kidding!) Plus: Fat Freddy's Cat stars in the black-and-white 'Chariots of the Globs' and the color 'The Burning of Hollywood,' along with other solo outings! High Times and Misdemeanors is the fifth release in this special series of seven graphic albums. The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics have sold more than 45 million copies worldwide in 16 languages. These painstakingly restored hardcovers, featuring die-cut covers, are the first North American bookshelf editions in more than thirty years. The Freak Brothers, the animated series now streaming on Tubi, stars Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, John Goodman, and Tiffany Haddish. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The latest box set of our bestselling Crepax series is devoted to the artist's comics adaptations including Georges Bataille's Story of the Eye and the groundbreaking BDSM Story of O by Pauline Réage. Collecting more than 500 pages of the influential Italian cartoonist's most famous adaptations of the erotic literary canon in a beautiful slipcase box set. In Vol. 7, 'Story of a Story' (1981) stars Milanese photographer Valentina. Finding herself home alone, she cheekily decides to fantasize about Georges Bataille's infamous novella Story of the Eye - with a twist: she's playing all the roles! In the stories 'Emmanuelle' (1978) and 'Emmanuelle: The Anti-Virgin' (1990), Crepax follows the titular heroine on her sensual journey as the polyamorous wife of a French diplomat in Thailand. While the character is best known as the star of a series of pornographic movies, most notably the 1974 film starring Sylvia Kristel, she originated in a banned 1959 novel by Marayat Rollet-Andriane (pen name Emmanuelle Arsan), a Thai French woman. Emmanuelle has a sexual encounter on a plane, plays a steamy game of squash with a countess, falls for a woman named Bee, and has an intense experience at a temple, among the many other transgressive exploits Crepax details from the novel. And, in an innovation of Crepax's own - she crosses paths with King Kong! Vol. 8 contains Crepax's longest graphic novel - 'Story of O.' A woman finds fulfillment when she subsumes her identity by sexually submitting to a secret society. Crepax sumptuously draws every strike of the whip and taps into the sensuality of body modification in his adaptation of this groundbreaking work. Also included is his short story 'The Unexpected Exchange,' filled with the sensual delights you have come to expect from Crepax: lingerie, bisexuality, the 1920s, and the most symbolically drawn train you've ever seen outside of a Hitchcock film. In addition to the usual accompanying essays putting Crepax's stories into historical and cultural context, this volume also features Nouveau Roman novelist Alain Robbe- Grillet's (The Voyeur, Last Year at Marienbad) introduction to Story of O. by Various Another great Arf book for 2008, featuring one of the greatest cartoonists of all time - Milt Gross! The Gross-ness begins on the cover with a stunning painting by the Count of Cartoons depicting Uncle Sam as he grinds up a sea of immigrants into a parade of classic comic strip characters. During the 1920s Gross drew a comic strip that left the last panel blank for aspiring artists. Arf series editor Craig Yoe has drafted a Who's Who of contemporary cartoonists to complete Gross' unfinished masterpieces, among them Art Spiegelman, Patrick McDonnell, R. Crumb, Bil Keane, Johnny Ryan, Jaime Hernandez, Mike Mignola, and more! For the history buff, Comic Arf delivers with showcases of Dudley Fisher, Arch Dale, and a hard-hitting chapter entitled 'The 15 Most Powerful Anti-War Cartoons of History.' HAROLD FOSTER'S LEGENDARY MEDIEVAL EPIC, FINALLY IN ITS DEFINITIVE EDITION. Universally acclaimed as the most stunningly gorgeous adventure comic strip of all time, Prince Valiant ran for 35 years under the virtuoso pen of its creator, Hal Foster. (Such was its popularity that today, decades after Foster's death, it continues to run under different hands.) The giant Sunday-funnies pages (Valiant ran only on Sundays) gave Foster a huge canvas upon which he was able to limn epic swordfights, stunning scenes of pomp and pageantry, and some of the most beautiful human beings - male and female - ever to appear in comics. And he matched his nonpareil visual sense with the narrative instincts of a born storyteller, propelling his daring young hero from one crisis to another with barely a panel to catch one's breath. Prince Valiant has previously been widely available only in re-colored, somewhat degraded editions (now out of print and fetching collectors' prices). Thanks to advances in production technology and newly available original proof sheets, this new series from the industry leader in quality strip classics is the first to feature superb restored artwork that captures every delicate line and chromatic nuance of Foster's original masterpiece. Comic strip aficionados will be ecstatic, and younger readers who enjoy a classic adventure yarn will be bowled over. Book One will be rounded out with a rare, in-depth classic Foster interview previously available only in a long out-of-print issue of The Comics Journal. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

THE 2nd 'ISSUE' OF ONE OF 2008'S MOST ACCLAIMED DEBUTS The acclaimed graphic novel anthology continues with sublife, Volume 2. Creator John Pham enlarges the scope and expands the style of his series with an all-new collection of stories and strips. 'The Kid' is a self-contained short story set in an eerily familiar post-apocalyptic future. Bloodthirsty marauders roam the blasted desert. A nomad and his dog, scavenging the road for gas and supplies, stumble upon a sealed bomb shelter, the contents of which will test whatever humanity he has left, as the marauders pursue him to a violent, frenetic climax. 'Deep Space' continues the atmospheric science fiction serial begun in Volume 1. In this episode, Captain Ho, Commander Wallach, and their newly adopted space-faring companion Deek attempt to harness the power of an alien crystal with the hopes of finding a way back home. But will their best-laid plans survive Captain's fragile mental state and impulse-prone behavior? In '221 Sycamore St,' teenage runaway Phineas accompanies his uncles on a training session with their dog Freya, but what they're training Freya to do illustrates the disturbing lengths to which his uncles will take their racist ideology. This chapter builds and expands upon the characters and themes established in the first volume, showcasing a vision of Los Angeles that is sometimes dark and fractured, inhabited by a quirky cast of characters. As if that were not enough, the artist includes various, stand-alone short strips including 'Socko Sarkissian,' a single-page gem about baseball's greatest fictional Armenian slugger, 'St. Ambrose,' a fractured memoir about the author's parochial school alma mater, and 'Mort,' a story that answers the burning question, what happens when a jealous blogger encounters his nemesis? sublife Volume 2 is filled to the brim with a dizzying variety of stories and styles, all of which surprisingly coalesce into a unified reading experience thanks to their shared themes and motifs, much like Chris Ware's annual ACME Novelty Library. Dogs, missed connections, ad hoc family units, desert landscapes are all elements that pop up and recur among the different stories. It makes each volume of sublife eminently readable on its own, and proves why Pham is among the most compelling new voices in comics today. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
