esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

A series of comic strips joined together by the theme of the author's chosen profession - cartooning - reveals a funny and often poignant reflection on the human condition and the lives we choose to live. Acclaimed cartoonist Noah Van Sciver puts to use all the creative arrows in his quiver in this captivating collection of fiction, biography, memoir, and more. Van Sciver juxtaposes fictional stories about what life as a '19th Century Cartoonist' might have looked like with a series of autobiographical strips about life as a contemporary cartoonist, along with pieces about his father and childhood that inform the path in life he has chosen. The resultant effect is a routinely funny (Van Sciver never takes himself too seriously unless it is intended for comedic effect) but also deeply relatable book that touches on some of life's big questions, whether about the ways we measure happiness or success, the ways we often define ourselves by our careers, or the ways we can sometimes lose sight of the most important things. Van Sciver displays a love of the history and form of cartooning that recalls Art Spiegelman, a Lynda Barryesque thirst to unpack ideas of what creativity really means, and a Harvey Pekar-like way of just trying to stay alive in the face of despair. The hilarity never stops in this fourth collection of The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers stories, featuring the Brothers' convoluted Mexican odyssey and Fat Freddy's Cat solo escapades. In this early epic of the hilarious and politically correct Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas, and Fat Freddy skip out on their rent and decide to cool it down Mexico way where they are chased off the beach, encounter a Mexican mystic, lose all their money, get thrown into jail, escape into an ancient underground labyrinth, and wind up on a secret poppy farm run by the U.S. military - you know, a typical tourist itinerary. (Oh, did we say, 'politically correct'? Just kidding!) Plus: Fat Freddy's Cat stars in solo adventures, including the mini epic, 'I Led Nine Lives.' The 7th Voyage and Other Follies is the fourth release in this special series of seven graphic albums. The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics have sold more than 45 million copies worldwide in 16 languages. These painstakingly restored hardcovers, featuring die-cut covers, are the first North American bookshelf editions in more than thirty years. The Freak Brothers, the animated series now streaming on Tubi, stars Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, John Goodman, and Tiffany Haddish. Gilbert Shelton, a founding father of the underground comix movement, is the creator of the iconic comix characters The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Fat Freddy's Cat, and Wonder Wart-Hog. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2012. Dave Sheridan became involved in the burgeoning comix scene while also working as a commercial illustrator and album cover artist. His Dealer McDope was syndicated through Rip Off Press, and in 1974, he began collaborating with Gilbert Shelton on Freak Brothers strips and stories, a role he continued until his death in 1982. Legendary cartoonist Peter Bagge triumphantly returns to the series that defined a generation with this all-new Hate graphic novel. Buddy Bradley and Lisa Leavenworth, now middle aged with a free-spirited young adult of their own, confront their own poor decisions as young people in the grungy 1990s. Expertly shifting between the present day (in full color) and their Gen X heyday (in glorious, crosshatched black-and-white), we learn for the first time the story of how Buddy met Lisa, Stinky, George, and Val. Meanwhile, Buddy is forced to come to terms with the tragic - and covered-up - circumstances of Stinky's untimely death in the original Hate series, while navigating elder care, contemporary politics, family and friendships. Hate Revisited! expertly showcases Bagge's inimitable humor and knack for character, and the generational shift lends an unexpected gravitas to their lives. While the original Hate is indelibly rooted in a key pop cultural era, the themes and characters of Hate remain timeless. Misanthropy never gets old! (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

By John Pham Two white supremacist brothers live in the midst of an 'ethnic' urban flood along with a dog they've trained as a weapon. A household made up of three renters, a landlord who never leaves her attic bedroom, and her son, who insists on wearing a sheet over his head all the time. A pack of ravenous stray dogs chase a cat down a desolate alleyway. The lonely, grimy silhouette of Los Angeles, ever-present. All these separate threads weave through the first part of 221 Sycamore St., an ongoing story about the desperate need for family in two distinct households that share an indelible yet mysterious connection.Sublife is the engaging new series from emerging talent John Pham (Epoxy, MOME). Similar in format to other great one-man anthology comics before it (Eightball, Acme Novelty Library, Jim), Sublife presents a variety of stories told in a range of styles and voices, all demonstrating a singular vision. Issue one features the first self-contained chapter of 221 Sycamore St. as well as St. Ambrose, a fractured memoir of the author's grade school alma mater.John Pham won the Xeric Grant in 2000 and has been featured in publications such as Giant Robot, The Face, MOME and The Comics Journal. Originally serialized in Love and Rockets Vol. II but never completed until now, Julio's Day is Gilbert Hernandez's latest graphic novel, a masterpiece of elliptical, emotional storytelling that traces one life through a series of enthralling vignettes. While Julio's Day has some elements in common with Hernandez's Palomar cycle, this is very much a standalone story that will help cement his position as one of the strongest and most original cartoonists of our time. Our First Full-Color Mickey Mouse Colection We're jumping from black and white to classic color-as Floyd Gottfredson's Mickey Mouse series makes its 1932-35 Sunday strip debut! Bright hues highlight our hero as he enjoys four years' worth of wild weekend epics... taking him from Uncle Mortimer's Wild West ranch to the icy peak of frigid Mount Fishflake! These Sunday specials-many never before reprinted-also feature the work of later Donald Duck master Al Taliaferro. Collectively, they form a collection that fans have been seeking for a lifetime! Highlights include 'Mickey's Nephews,' introducing Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse, and 'Dr. Oofgay's Secret Serum,' which turns Horace Horsecollar into a brainwashed wild mustang! Between 1966 and 1985 a generation of writers emerged that changed the face of American comic books forever. Many were fans every bit as much as they were professionals, creative artists working from an understanding of what felt right on the comics page forged by years of close scrutiny above and beyond the final sales figures. Some were tempered by exposure to new waves in cinema, new voices in writing, and new comics from Europe and Japan. Coming to comics at a time when the financial awards were poor and the chance for ownership of what one created was even poorer, these writers breathed new life into the dying icons of the past. Writers like Len Wein, Steve Englehart, Gerry Conway, Harlan Ellison, Marv Wolfman, Denny O'Neil, Mark Evanier, Mike Baron, and Alan Moore infused comics like X-Men, Captain America, and Swamp Thing with a progressive social outlook that ran directly in the face of decades of simplistic might-makes-right pseudo-moralizing. Some made their careers in other writing fields but toiled in comics out of a sense of loyalty and passion; others became comic book writers just out of their teens and never left. They were America's comic book children come home. The Comics Journal Library: The Writers celebrates the ascendancy of writer-driven mainstream comic books with a series of revealing, in-depth interviews, many conducted at the height of their influence. See Frank as you've never seen him before. Frank in the 3rd Dimension uses the most technologically advanced 3D ever produced and is an experience that has to be savored to be believed. No red and blue-lensed glasses are used. Instead, the 3D process involves over 150 layers per drawing in order to round and 'sculpt' each image into full 3D. The results are mind-staggering. Frank in the 3rd Dimension is a series of Jim Woodring's loveliest pictures - 32 vignettes, dioramas and psychedelic moments to be mused and mulled over. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

In her graphic novel debut, Lizzy Stewart chronicles the lives of two close friends from adolescence to adulthood. In a series of interconnected vignettes, Stewart charges ordinary, slice-of-life moments with a quiet intensity, revealing the complex natures of her characters as life nudges them in directions that they never could have expected until finally, in their thirties, they hardly recognize the women they have become.
