esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
(W) Yoshihiro Tatsumi Over four decades ago, Yoshihiro Tatsumi expanded the horizons of comics storytelling by using the visual language of manga to tell gritty, literary stories about the private lives of everyday people. He has been called 'the grandfather of Japanese alternative comics' and has influenced generations of cartoonists around the world. Now the visionary creator of The Push Man and Good-Bye has turned his incisive, unflinching gaze upon himself. Over ten years in the making, A Drifting Life is Tatsumi's most ambitious, personal, and heart-felt work: an autobiographical bildungsroman in comics form, a massive 840 page book edited and designed by Adrian Tomine. Using his life-long obsession with comics as a framework, Tatsumi weaves a complex story that encompasses family dynamics, Japanese culture and history, first love, the intricacies of the manga industry, and most importantly, what it means to be an artist. Alternately humorous, enlightening, and haunting, this is the masterful summation of a fascinating life and an historic career. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

(W/A) Tove Jansson The treasured children's classic, lovingly back in print. In this companion to the hugely successful Moomin series, Tove Jansson presents a delightful book for all ages in a very intricate and elaborately designed book, complete with Moomin die-cuts on every page. Like the Moomin comic strip companion volumes, this book is a 'lost classic' from the 1950s and has been unavailable in North America for over half a century. (W/A) Imiri Sakabashira Enter the strange world of Imiri Sakabashira. The Box Man follows its zoomorphic protagonists along a scooter trip through a landscape that oscillates between a dense city, a countryside simplified to near abstraction, and hybrids of the two. Sakabashira weaves this absurdist tale in a seamless tapestry constructed of elements as seemingly disparate as Japanese folklore, pop culture, and surrealism. by Rutu Modan In modern-day Tel Aviv, a young man, Koby Franco, receives an urgent phone call from a female soldier. Learning that his estranged father may have been a victim of a suicide bombing in Hadera, Koby reluctantly joins the soldier in searching for clues. His father's death would certainly explain the empty apartment and disconnected phone line. As Koby tries to unravel the mystery of his father's death, he finds himself not only piecing together the last few months of his father's life, but his entire identity. With thin, precise lines and luscious watercolors, Modan creates a portrait of modern Israel, a place where sudden death mingles with the slow dissolution of family ties. by Adrian Tomine Ben Tanaka has problems. In addition to being rampantly critical, sarcastic, and insensitive, his long-term girlfriend, Miko Hayashi, suspects that Ben has a wandering eye, and more to the point, a wandering eye in the direction of white women. This accusation becomes the subject of heated debate, setting in motion a story that pits California against New York, devotion against desire, and truth against trust. by Chris Ware Cartoonist Chris Ware abandons the engaging serialization of his 'Rusty Brown' and instead focuses upon his more experimentally grim narrative, 'Building Stories.' Set in a Chicago apartment building more or less in the year 2000, the stories move from the straightforward to the complex, invading character's memories and personal ambitions with a text point size likely unreadable to human beings over the age of 45. (W/A) Keith Jones Visionary talent Keith Jones joins the ranks of Julie Doucet and Marc Bell with this new 'Petits Livres' book. Keith Jones once wrote, 'People and Birds talk to each other and spend time doing it.' This is as reasonable a description as you'll get for Keith's dense, cartoon-y people/animal-scapes. Keith comes from a doodle world tradition that belongs to underground giants. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Julie Delporte's Everywhere Antennas is a deeply affecting, sparely constructed novel, equal parts Walden and The Bell Jar. In soft, flowing colored pencil, Delporte shows her narrator coming to term with a rare and misunderstood sensitivity to the radiation emitted by the televisions, cell phones, and computers that permeate urban life. Everywhere Antennas is the portrait of a woman caught in the margins, struggling to balance the demands of technology and modern life with the need to find meaningful relationships and work. With Everywhere Antennas, Julie Delporte proves herself to be a master craftswoman of heartbreakingly personal, beautifully literate graphic fiction. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

(W/A) Michael Dumontier, Neil Farber Constructive Abandonment is a series of small paintings featuring surreal vignettes with animals and children weighed down by the pressures of life. With absurdly comedic interactions, the text varies from straightforward to even more abstract and nonsensical than the images that it accompanies. The paintings reference child's play or literature and others are seemingly without reference, completely untethered. Pages that could be forgettable one-liners become investigations into intellect and our ability to draw correlations between contradictory elements in a single image. (W/A) Adrian Norvid Nogoodniks collects a ragtag group of images that draw from popular brand slogans, tropes of 1970s counterculture, bad puns, and the sardonic wit of Adrian Norvid. Pages alternate between cartoonish caricatures, parodies of commercial products, and tongue-in-cheek self-congratulatory affirmations that the author has written to himself. By pairing childish, crude imagery or messages with a refined, appealing drawing style, Norvid confronts us with our own attitudes about culture and what is appropriate, and points out the fun in doing and saying things your mom told you not to. (W/A) Doug Wright Doug Wright's pantomime strip about the life of a suburban family moves into the mid-1960s and the pop culture of the time begins to seep in. Wright covers almost every bit of domestic mayhem that parents and their kids experience throughout the year. There are strips about school, as seen through the eyes of mischievous kids: fear of bad report cards; figuring out how to play hooky without being caught; dreading being called on by the teacher.
