esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
Originally published in 2004, Dave Cooper's Ripple is one of the great graphic novels of the 21st century. Martin is a floundering painter who hires a model, Tina, to pose for a series of paintings he dubs 'The Eroticism of Homeliness.' Their relationship evolves from a tenuous working relationship to a confused sexual entanglement. Martin's initial repulsion slowly turns to attraction, causing him to re-evaluate his notions of beauty and sexuality. Tina's motives are slowly turned upside-down as well, leading toward the book's explosive ending. Sad, funny, and often uncomfortable, Ripple is rendered with kinetic realism. Told almost entirely without words, Penguins is a series of interconnected short strips that does more to showcase the breadth of emotion we as humans experience than most prose novels. As author Nick Thorburn explains, 'Penguins go through a lot of hell that could be avoided if they had the ability to fly. This cruel irony lends itself to humor, as well as sadness. Death and the desperate search for love and companionship seem so tethered to life as a penguin, as well as for humans, and so the goal was to bridge those two and make them funny.' The gritty, action-packed resolution to the futuristic corporate thriller. In this second and concluding volume of Ho Che Anderson's gritty, futuristic thriller series, Godhead 2 picks up from where part one left off with Racer Calhoun and the rest of Cadre Zeus finally learning why they've been assembled: to destroy Oceanus, the scientific facility traveling through the Pacific housing the God machine. They undertake what they hope will be a routine intelligence gathering mission on Oceanus which quickly turns into a desperate fight for survival through the city from which Racer had fled, and leads to a reunion with Carys, the great love of his life. Finally, the cadre are ready to confront Oceanus and put an end to the God machine once and for all. The story's finale upends the usual narrative expectations and concludes with a somber private epiphany that results in the triumph of human reason over a technocratic/supernatural savior. Part Boy's Own adventure genre, part men-on-a-mission yarn, and part thrilling showcase for badass women kicking ass and taking names, Godhead is also the perfect playground through which Anderson can exercise his restless obsessions in this psychological corporate crime drama. The groundbreaking, women-edited comics anthology that served as an antidote and rebuke tomale-dominated underground comix is now collected in a single volume for the first time. In 1972, underground cartoonists Joyce Farmer and Lyn Chevli produced T*ts & Cl*ts - a funny, rowdy, raucous underground comix series about female sexuality that one reviewer described as 'the ultimate in vaginal politics' - and became the first American women ever credited with writing, drawing, and publishing their own comic books. T*ts & Cl*ts quickly became an anthology showcase for other women cartoonists, a feminist answer to Zap, and featured the work of Mary Fleener, Roberta Gregory, Krystine Kryttre, Lee Marrs, Carel Moiseiwitsch, Trina Robbins, Dori Seda, among others. Like other underground comix, T*ts & Cl*ts leaned into being lewd in order to satirize women's experiences with so-called sexual liberation. Featuring stories about birth control, abortion, menstruation, masturbation, and more, Tits & Clits featured intimate politics which occasionally clashed with contemporaneous feminist concepts about sex and sexuality. As Chevli put it: their work had something to offend everyone. (In 1973, conservative legal authorities in Orange County deemed their work pornographic and even threatened the two editors with arrest on obscenity charges.) Now, for the first time in half a century, a new generation of readers will be shocked, entertained, enlightened, and scandalized by the bold satirical cartoonists that comprised the band of sisters in T*ts & Cl*ts. In addition to reprinting the seven-issue run of the T*ts & Cl*ts series, this collection also includes in their entirety two classic solo comics from 1972 written and drawn by Farmer and Chevli- Abortion Eve and Pandora's Box. Also included is an introductory essay providing context to T*ts & Cl*ts' place in the history of women's cartooning by the book's editor, Samantha Meier. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

In this latest volume of Peanuts, romance is in the air: Charlie Brown's flirtatious winking in class sends him to the school nurse, Linus's attempts to woo 'Lydia' of the many names are met with mockery - and Peppermint Patty and Marcie's fierce quarrel over which one of them 'Charles' likes the best. Other storylines include Snoopy's stay in the hospital for a hockey-related knee injury - until everyone realizes that dogs don't have knees, Patty's campaign to be her school's 'May Queen,' Sally's rocky career as a playwright, and Snoopy's 'kiss-and-tell' book. Plus, fan-favorites Lucy, Rerun, Spike... and Snoopy's feathered Beagle Scouts! The Complete Peanuts is the publishing project that launched a renaissance in comic strip publishing and the only place Charles M. Schulz's classic has ever been collected in its entirety. Featuring impeccable production values, each volume of this series features two successive years of newspaper strips (dailies and Sundays), plus bonus material such as celebrity introductions, interviews, and a brief biography of Schulz himself. Peter Bagge returns to the series that defined a generation with this all-new, four-issue monthly miniseries! Buddy and Lisa, now middle aged with a free spirited young adult of their own, confront their own poor decisions as young people in the grungy 1990s. Expertly shifting between the present day (in full color) and their Gen X heyday (in glorious, crosshatched B&W), we learn for the first time the story of how Buddy met Lisa, Stinky, George, and Val. Meanwhile, Buddy is forced to come to terms with the tragic -- and covered-up -- circumstances of Stinky's untimely death (way back in Hate #27). Hate Revisited expertly showcases Bagge's inimitable humor and knack for character, and the generational shift lends an unexpected gravitas to their lives. This is the must-have comic of the summer! The definitive collection of comics and illustration from 1892 to 1942 by James Swinnerton, one of the founding fathers of the American comic strip. James Swinnerton is one of the most creative, respected, and prolific comic artists from the first half of the 20th century. Yet to the disappointment of classic comics lovers, his work has seen little reproduction. Until now. This sumptuous volume covers Swinnerton's six-decade career in comics, from his beginnings as a sports/editorial cartoonist for William Randolph Hearst in San Francisco to his years in the America's Southwest desert, where his love for the land and its people came through in his comics and illustration. Swinnerton is an excellent storyteller offering a cinematic style with humor that is both slapstick and sophisticated. At the forefront is his long-running Little Jimmy comic strip. This namesake character began by mixing satire of New York society with stories of rural America. He then took the characters on the road to South America, Mexico, and then settling for many years in Swinnerton's beloved Southwest. Also included in this book are his early one-shots and series like the rakish Mr. Jack and the anthropomorphic Mt. Ararat, and his 1940s stylized comic of the modern West, Rocky Mason. Swinnerton was famous for more than just comics. He wrote and illustrated the charming feature 'The Canyon Kiddies' and similar titles for weekly magazines. In his later years he became known as a premier painter of desert landscapes. All of these are featured in this book. Jimmy! includes an illustrated biography and essays by co-editor Michael Tisserand and Eddie Campbell. The comic strips in this volume are carefully restored to their original colors and printed at near-full size. Swinnerton lovers will be delighted by the richness and variety of the works seen here. Those new to this uniquely American artist will likely join the growing numbers who appreciate his important role in the history of the comics. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The latest box set of our bestselling Crepax series is devoted to the artist's comics adaptations including Georges Bataille's Story of the Eye and the groundbreaking BDSM Story of O by Pauline Réage. Collecting more than 500 pages of the influential Italian cartoonist's most famous adaptations of the erotic literary canon in a beautiful slipcase box set. In Vol. 7, 'Story of a Story' (1981) stars Milanese photographer Valentina. Finding herself home alone, she cheekily decides to fantasize about Georges Bataille's infamous novella Story of the Eye - with a twist: she's playing all the roles! In the stories 'Emmanuelle' (1978) and 'Emmanuelle: The Anti-Virgin' (1990), Crepax follows the titular heroine on her sensual journey as the polyamorous wife of a French diplomat in Thailand. While the character is best known as the star of a series of pornographic movies, most notably the 1974 film starring Sylvia Kristel, she originated in a banned 1959 novel by Marayat Rollet-Andriane (pen name Emmanuelle Arsan), a Thai French woman. Emmanuelle has a sexual encounter on a plane, plays a steamy game of squash with a countess, falls for a woman named Bee, and has an intense experience at a temple, among the many other transgressive exploits Crepax details from the novel. And, in an innovation of Crepax's own - she crosses paths with King Kong! Vol. 8 contains Crepax's longest graphic novel - 'Story of O.' A woman finds fulfillment when she subsumes her identity by sexually submitting to a secret society. Crepax sumptuously draws every strike of the whip and taps into the sensuality of body modification in his adaptation of this groundbreaking work. Also included is his short story 'The Unexpected Exchange,' filled with the sensual delights you have come to expect from Crepax: lingerie, bisexuality, the 1920s, and the most symbolically drawn train you've ever seen outside of a Hitchcock film. In addition to the usual accompanying essays putting Crepax's stories into historical and cultural context, this volume also features Nouveau Roman novelist Alain Robbe- Grillet's (The Voyeur, Last Year at Marienbad) introduction to Story of O. For almost three decades, master cartoonist Jordan Crane has put together a body of short stories that garnered him multiple Eisner and Ignatz Award nominations, via the pages of his comic book series Uptight and the influential comics anthology, Non. Yet they have never been collected until now. Featuring over a dozen short stories (spanning multiple genres) published over the past 25 years, Goes Like This is a gorgeously packaged anthology (including varying paper stocks and exposed spine) of Crane's work. 'The Hand of Gold' is a short but grim Weird Western, a morality play in which an accidental crime leads a criminal to a supernatural maximum security cell. 'Below the Shade of Night' presents an anxiety that is rooted in the follies and ignorance of childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. 'Vicissitude' maps uncharted territory of graphic melancholia via a tale of infidelity. 'Trash Night' depicts the troubled relationship of Dee and Leo, with mounting tension and mistrust that reaches a boiling point. In 'The Dark Nothing,' a rare foray into science fiction, the three-person crew of prospecting ship Sagasu 17 attempt to harvest an asteroid, and things go horribly awry. 'The Middle Nowhere' begins with a man waiting in a small shack. All around him is a black sand desert. The wind rises, the rain comes, and it just might be the end of everything he's known. Also featuring additional prints and drawings from the author's archives, Goes Like This is a tantalizing sampler of one of the most brilliant cartoonists working today. In this charming middle-grade graphic novel, 11-year-old Hazel McCrimlisk's scientist parents are kidnapped inside the ecosphere they live and work in. Can Hazel and her friends find them in time? Hazel and her parents live an idyllic life in a treehouse in the PAW (Perfect Animal Worlds) Biosphere among a series of ecologically controlled environments populated by genetically created and enhanced animals and flora. As scientists working for PAW, together with founder Dr. Henry Nimick, the McCrimlisk's mission is to create a world that will usher in an era of 'good evolution', populated with animals and plants that can transform pollution and other environmental hazards to make the region clean and habitable. But one foggy night, Hazel's parents are suddenly kidnapped. With the help of her animal friends Chimi (a multilingual toucan), Nina (a pet-sized elephant who exhibits super-strength), and her human friend (comics lover and mythology expert) Alex, Hazel tracks clues throughout the various biodomes and climates uncovering what happened to her parents and leading her to... a monster?!? Author Ali Fitzgerald charmingly wrote, drew, lettered, and colored this book featuring an imaginative setting rich with detail and an expressive brush-pen style with a good sense of personality and motion. Her colorful, anthropomorphic characters are bright and funny sleuths alongside Hazel as they follow the clues together. Filled with puns and hijinks, readers will delight in this mystery with an ecological message. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Jaime Hernandez is one of the most humane, graceful, and imaginatively inexhaustible artists in American popular culture. Locas tells the story of Maggie Chascarrillo, a bisexual, Mexican-American woman attempting to define herself in a community rife with class, race, and gender issues. Maggie's story begins in the early-1980s Southern California rock scene, when it was shifting from the excesses of the 1970s to the gritty basics of punk and new wave. Hardcore punk rock came to the fore, and the teenage Maggie finds herself drawn to the anarchy, energy, and diversity of the scene, which in Jaime's hands becomes a very real, habitable place populated with authentic human beings rather than stereotypes. She quickly befriends Hopey Glass, a feisty anti-authoritarian punkette who quickly becomes Maggie's on-again, off-again lover and a constant presence in her life as they navigate a devastatingly naturalistic world. Created over 15 years from 1981-96 in the pages of the legendary comic book series Love and Rockets Vol. I #1–50, this new deluxe hardcover edition includes three stories that were not included in the previous edition. by Jim Woodring Jim Woodring's charcoal drawings take the otherworldly qualities of his comics (The Frank Book) to a higher level of clarity and nuance. These crisply rendered images reflect his life-long obsession with hidden worlds, alternate realities and the inexplicable resonance of the unprecedented and irrational in lucid art. Seeing Things collects the most toothsome of these drawings and arranges them in four sections. 'Lazy Robinson' is a series of portraits of forms taken by a cognizant object during the course of a specific and identifiable stream of thought. 'Frogs' celebrates the tender proclivities of the most noble of all animals, by placing them in situations that would dismay a horde of saints. 'The Visible World' is a roundup of appalling scenes of sub-rational political activity involving catalytic entities with a high ratio of motivation to altruism. And 'The Portfolio in Color' appears like a rainbow at the end of all this exalted storminess to send readers out into the world whistling with delight. Many of these images were created for 'Mysterio Sympatico,' Woodring's multimedia stage collaboration with guitarist Bill Frisell. There is plenty of echoless, glowing furniture to add to that already crowded storeroom which is briefly, but brilliantly, illuminated in the pages of this stately book. Hobo Mom was collaborated on and drawn simultaneously by two cartoonists across the Atlantic: Charles Forsman, author of The End of the Fxxxing World (now a hit Netflix series), and Max de Radiguès, winner of a prestigious prize at the Angoulême International Festival of Comics for his 2018 graphic novel Bastard. Both of their clean line styles fit together perfectly to tell a sober and intimate story about an emotionally damaged family and the price of freedom. Tom lives a simple life as a single father of pre-teen daughter Sissy, but their estranged wife and mother has chosen a much different path. Natasha hops trains and has become a vagrant since leaving her family a few years earlier. After a dangerous encounter riding the rails, Natasha chooses to show up on the doorstep of the family she abandoned and finds an upset husband, although still deeply in love, and a little girl yearning for a mother. Can someone who covets independence settle down? Forsman and de Radiguès's Hobo Mom explores the ideas of being trapped in domesticity and whether one deserves happiness, even at the cost of others. Renowned for their great conceptual and graphic originality, acclaimed French cartoonists Florent Ruppert and Jérôme Mulot have masterfully contributed an instant comics classic to the annals of science fiction. This first book in a two-volume graphic novel series is set in a near-dystopian present, where mysterious creatures called 'whols' coexist with humans since their sudden appearance a few years earlier. At first, they aroused curiosity and wonder, then their seemingly harmless presence became commonplace. Nineteen-year-old Orsay leads an uneventful life in the French countryside, until the day he gains extraordinary powers in his hands after an atypically aggressive encounter with a whol. On a trip to Paris in search of a cure, he meets and falls for Basma, a passionate activist for whols' rights. But Orsay isn't convinced that whols should be granted the same status as humans. Especially once Melek, another human with similar powers, embarks on a murderous rampage to avenge those she sees as her kin. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
