Jim Davis was born on July 28, 1945, in Marion, Indiana. He later attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where he distinguished himself by earning one of the lowest cumulative grade point averages in the history of the university. The Garfield strip was born on June 19, 1978, syndicated in 41 U.S. newspapers. Today it’s syndicated in more than 2,100 newspapers worldwide with more than 200 million readers, leading Guinness World Records to name Garfield The Most Widely Syndicated Comic Strip in the World. Davis has had many successes with Garfield, including four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program and induction into the Licensing Hall of Fame (1998), but his most prized awards are from his peers in the National Cartoonist Society: Best Humor Strip (1981 and 1985), the Elzie Segar Award (1990), and the coveted Reuben Award (1990) for overall excellence in cartooning.Mark Evanier, an Emmy-nominated writer for The Garfield Show, and Scott Nickel, a longtime writer for the official Garfield comics. Ethan S. Parker is a comic book writer who made his industry debut with the hit Image Comics horror/fantasy series Kill Your Darlings. He and his co-writer Griffin Sheridan followed that series with Blink and You'll Miss It for BOOM! Studios and Dominion Over All for DSTLRY Media, along with work for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and IDW Publishing. Ethan was born in Oklahoma, but currently resides in Arizona with his wife and their cats.Griffin Sheridan has spent his entire life in comic shops across Michigan, where he was born and raised. For over a decade, Sheridan was an active voice in comics discourse through numerous podcasting endeavours, including projects featuring creators such as Ryan Stegman, Donny Cates, Matthew Rosenberg, and Brian Michael Bendis. In 1998, Matz’s hit series, The Killer, with artist Luc Jacamon, made its comic book debut. It became a bestseller that found its way onto the shelves of bookstores in many countries, all the way to the US with Archaia. It was then optioned by Paramount for a movie that has drawn the interest of director David Fincher (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Matz has also created a new line of comic books, Rivages/Casterman/Noir, which are adaptations of noir novels. But Matz’s day job for the last 15 years has been to write for the video-game industry, as he has been an employee at Ubisoft. Now in charge of the writing department, Matz has been involved with games such as Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Prince of Persia, and the Assassin’s Creed series.Luc Jacamon had his first moves in the comics field in 1986. In the following years, he focused on illustration work, however. In October 1998, he published his first album with Casterman publishers. This album, Long Feu, was the first in the series Le Tueur (The Killer), which he created with scriptwriter Matz. This critically acclaimed series, deals with the life and psychology of a hitman, a character different from the stereotypes of detective novels and cinema. After a cycle of five albums, Jacamon and Matz ended their prize-winning series in 2003, and launched the futuristic saga Cyclopes.
