esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Jack Kirby’s comic strip masterpiece is presented in an archival version featuring the complete dailies from Sky Masters of the Space Force. Veteran scripters Dick and Dave Wood provided these late-1950s space/action adventure stories starring Sky Masters of the Space Force and his gang of intrepid followers which closely resemble Kirby’s work on Challengers of the Unknown (which was being published at the same time). Kirby’s artwork is embellished by Wallace Wood and later by Marvel inker extraordinaire Dick Ayers. Sky Masters was created at the beginning of the space race — when who would get into space and to the moon first —was a national obsession. The strip takes place in the not to distant future where the United States sends men into space but hasn’t ventured much further yet. The series in clearly anchored in the late 1950s/early1960s so it serves as a highly stylized period piece that still holds up very nicely. The material used in this archival edition ranges from original art, to press proofs, to tear sheets, and boasts the best reproduction of the strip ever. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERA long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. . . .  A thrilling new adventure set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, and—for the first time ever—written entirely from Luke Skywalker’s first-person point of view.Luke Skywalker’s game-changing destruction of the Death Star has made him not only a hero of the Rebel Alliance but a valuable asset in the ongoing battle against the Empire. Though he’s a long way from mastering the power of the Force, there’s no denying his phenomenal skills as a pilot—and in the eyes of Rebel leaders Princess Leia Organa and Admiral Ackbar, there’s no one better qualified to carry out a daring rescue mission crucial to the Alliance cause.  A brilliant alien cryptographer renowned for her ability to breach even the most advanced communications systems is being detained by Imperial agents determined to exploit her exceptional talents for the Empire’s purposes. But the prospective spy’s sympathies lie with the Rebels, and she’s willing to join their effort in exchange for being reunited with her family. It’s an opportunity to gain a critical edge against the Empire that’s too precious to pass up. It’s also a job that demands the element of surprise. So Luke and the ever-resourceful droid R2-D2 swap their trusty X-wing fighter for a sleek space yacht piloted by brash recruit Nakari Kelen, daughter of a biotech mogul, who’s got a score of her own to settle with the Empire.  Challenged by ruthless Imperial bodyguards, death-dealing enemy battleships, merciless bounty hunters, and monstrous brain-eating parasites, Luke plunges head-on into a high-stakes espionage operation that will push his abilities as a Rebel fighter and would-be Jedi to the limit. If ever he needed the wisdom of Obi-Wan Kenobi to shepherd him through danger, it’s now. But Luke will have to rely on himself, his friends, and his own burgeoning relationship with the Force to survive.Praise for Heir to the Jedi  “Utterly compelling . . . [The novel] plants readers in Luke Skywalker’s boots in the early days of his heroism, during the weeks after he blew up the Death Star.â€â€”New York Daily News  “An excellent book with rich characters, bubbling humor and poignant emotion.â€â€”Roqoo Depot  “Entertaining . . . action-packed . . . suspenseful.â€â€”New York Journal of Books  “Great . . . [an] entertaining introduction into understanding Luke’s character . . . There are moments in The Empire Strikes Back that I now point to and say, ‘I understand how he got there,’ and it’s because of this novel.â€â€”The Wookiee Gunner  “Pure Star Wars . . . From shoot-outs to narrow escapes, I could practically hear John Williams’s score playing in my head—a credit to Kevin Hearne, to be sure.â€â€”Coffee with Kenobi  “A must-read for fans . . . I left with a much closer understanding of who Luke Skywalker is, and an even deeper admiration for the character. All things are connected in the Force, and I feel more connected to Luke after reading Heir to the Jedi.â€â€”Comicbook
Kevin Hearne hugs trees, pets doggies, and rocks out to heavy metal. He also thinks tacos are a pretty nifty idea. He is the New York Times bestselling author of The Iron Druid Chronicles, the Ink & Sigil series, and the Seven Kennings series, and is co-author of The Tales of Pell with Delilah S. Dawson.

In 1958, established Argentine comics creators Héctor Germán Oesterheld and Alberto Breccia worked together on their first significant series. In Sherlock Time, retiree Julio Luna buys a beautiful home for much too good a deal. There have been strange disappearances, but the trap is far stranger than a simple haunting in San Isidro. Fortunately for Luna, a mysterious man saves him in the nick of … Sherlock Time! The two team up, outwitting aliens, solving seemingly-supernatural crimes, and investigating cursed objects. These episodic adventures, ranging from SF to horror to mystery, ran concurrently with Oesterheld's legendary comics serial The Eternaut, and set the stage for their masterpiece, Mort Cinder. Of Sherlock Time, Argentine author Juan Sasturain (who also wrote Perramus, which Breccia would go on to draw) concluded: "rarely has a story made us so fully happy." (immagine)

A massive cultural phenomenon, made even bigger by the hit anime based on it. To this day, "Ashita no Joe" remains one of the most important manga of all time, and now it will finally see the light of day in English for the first time!THE PECULIAR TRAGEDY OF THE BOXERAfter their decisive bout, the end of Joe's great rivalry with Rikiishi sends him spiraling into the depths of despair—where does a rowdy underdog go when he has nothing left to fight for? But when an unexpected new rival provides Joe with a fresh challenge, will he be able to claw his way out of the gutter once again...?This universally acclaimed classic is much more than a sports manga: it is a cultural touchstone and a realist masterpiece, perhaps the most prominent series ever to eschew any hint of the superhuman or supernatural, yielding a keenly observed human drama that captured the hearts of an entire generation on its way to becoming a runaway bestseller. Serialized from 1968-1973, Ashita no Joe made a particular impact on college students and the working class, who saw their own experience reflected in Joe's struggle. To this day, it remains one of the most important manga ever published, and this landmark omnibus edition marks its first appearance in English translation.Hitmaker Asao Takamori was arguably the biggest manga author of his day, while the massively influential Tetsuya Chiba was awarded the prestigious Order of Culture by the Japanese government in 2024, the first manga artist ever to receive that honor.
Rated T+
Takamori was perhaps the biggest manga author of his day, churning out hit after hit in the 60s and 70s, including "Ashita no Joe," "Star of the Giants," and "Tiger Mask." While all are nominally sports manga, Takamori's great skill was in bringing other dimensions to his work.Tetsuya Chiba, known primarily for his sports manga, is one of the most influential manga artists of all time and winner of innumerable awards.

While listening to the radio during her recovery and becoming entranced by jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald, Doris embarked on singing lessons for two years, resulting in her becoming a local radio star and joining big bands -- where she adopted the stage name of ""Day"" -- leading to a plum position with the Les Brown Orchestra. While touring cross-country with Brown, Day had several hit records with the band, culminating with the end-of-World-War-II anthem Sentimental Journey. After two failed marriages and giving birth to her son Terry, Doris relocated to Los Angeles where she was discovered by famed film director Michael Curtiz (Casablanca) and signed to a contract with Warner Brothers. Starting with the 1948 Technicolor musical Romance on the High Seas, where she introduced the Oscar®-nominated hit song It's Magic, Day quickly ascended to the top of the most popular stars in Hollywood. While continuing her recording career, she moved effortlessly between song-filled, nostalgic features such as Calamity Jane - introducing the Oscar®-winning hit Secret Love; gripping film noir (Storm Warning); musical biography (Love Me or Leave Me); a Hitchcock thriller (The Man Who Knew Too Much) and modern romantic comedies with Rock Hudson (Pillow Talk), Clark Gable (Teacher's Pet), Cary Grant (That Touch of Mink) and James Garner (The Thrill of It All). Despite not making a film since 1968, Day still holds the record as the number one female box-office star. Her many honors include the Cecil B. DeMille Award for outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry, the Los Angeles Film Critics Award for Lifetime Achievement, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, an Academy Award® nomination for Pillow Talk and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Her films and recordings continue to appeal to audiences all over the world. The iconic Oscar®-winning hit Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be Will Be) was not only the theme to her top ten television series The Doris Day Show but has resonated globally with several generations. A lifelong animal lover and pioneering animal welfare advocate, Day focused her later years on her heart's passion--making this a better world for animals and the people who love them. Her celebrity voice has been instrumental in reducing shelter euthanasia, introducing spay/neuter initiatives, lobbying for laws that protect animals, and many other programs. Since 1978, the Doris Day Animal Foundation has grown into a national non-profit animal welfare leader and continues to carry on Day's legacy. DORIS DAY - IMAGES OF A HOLLYWOOD ICON offers hundreds of photos, including glamorous publicity portraits, behind-the-scenes images with famous friends and colleagues, and glimpses into her personal life. Longtime fan Paul McCartney has contributed a Foreword. Turner Classic Movies host Eddie Muller and singer-historian Michael Feinstein have contributed appreciations of Day's motion picture and singing careers, respectively. A complete filmography and discography are also included. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror
