esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
edited by John Benson; cover by John Severin First Time in Previews! The John Severin issue! More pages! More color! Featured is a long John Severin interview by Jim Vadeboncoeur, Jr., and a complete checklist of Severin's work. Plus lots of rare and unpublished art, including a good selection of humorous illustrations from Severin's correspondence which Harvey Kurtzman has described as Severin at his best. Published for the first time are the amazingly detailed pencilled pages that Roy Krenkel drew for an American Eagle story. There's an interview with EC writer and longtime Severin friend Colin Dawkins, and a remembrance of Severin pal and EC staffer Jerry De Fuccio by Hames Ware (with unpublished Severin caricatures). The EC fanzine series continues with coverage of the original 1959 dittoed SQUATRONT (one word), which had a cover by Severin. SQUA TRONT's editor, Mike Britt writes about his publishing days with Robert Crumb and his contacts with Severin, Steve Ditko and Jules Feiffer. With original Crumb illustrations and a rare, brief Wood interview. 'The EC French Connection,' by Jacques Dutrey, gives more info on how famous French cartoonists Rene Goscinny and 'Morris' hung out with the EC artists, including Severin, in its heyday; illustrated with rare photos and Kurtzman art. THE SECOND VOLUME OF THIS CLASSIC FANTASY, NOW IN AN EXTENDED AND IMPROVED VERSION With its long-awaited second volume, Linda Medley's witty and sublimely drawn fantasy eases into a relaxed comedy of manners as Lady Jain settles into her new life in Castle Waiting. Unexpected visitors result in the discovery and exploration of a secret passageway, not to mention an epic bowling tournament. A quest for ladies' underpants, the identity of her baby son Pindar's father, the education of Simon, Rackham and Chess arguing about the 'manly arts,' and an escape-prone goat are just a few of the elements in this delightful new volume. The book also includes many flashbacks that deepen the stories behind the characters, including Jain's earliest romantic entanglements and conflicts with her bratty older sisters, the horrific past of the enigmatic Dr. Fell, and more. Originally released in a slightly shorter version when the series ceased publication, this new edition includes over 60 pages' worth of brand new additional story and epilogue, and the entire book has been re-lettered in a livelier, more inviting style for an even more engaging reading experience. Our First Full-Color Mickey Mouse Colection We're jumping from black and white to classic color-as Floyd Gottfredson's Mickey Mouse series makes its 1932-35 Sunday strip debut! Bright hues highlight our hero as he enjoys four years' worth of wild weekend epics... taking him from Uncle Mortimer's Wild West ranch to the icy peak of frigid Mount Fishflake! And in this volume, Mickey is joined by a famous co-star: Donald Duck! Floyd Gottfredson, artist of the Sunday Mickey Mouse from 1932-38, created the most famous Mickey tales ever told in print. These Sunday specials-many never before reprinted-also feature the work of later Donald Duck master Al Taliaferro. Collectively, they form a collection that fans have been seeking for a lifetime! Highlights include 'Mickey's Nephews,' introducing Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse, and 'Dr. Oofgay's Secret Serum,' which turns Horace Horsecollar into a brainwashed wild mustang! Classic gag stories round out the book, offering manic Mouse mischief at a fever pitch. Restored from Disney's art sources and enhanced with a meticulous recreation of the strips' original color, Call of the Wild also brings you more than 30 pages of chromatic supplementary features! The career of Jay Lynch, cartoonist, satirist, and counterculture archivist, spanned more than six decades and displayed his many graphic talents in a vast array of contexts and media. He contributed to the earliest counterculture press, drew and edited many underground comic books, designed confectionary novelties and promotional products, and in later years painted a myriad of private commissions for fans of his work. Included are Lynch's cartoon memoirs, Ink & Anguish, in collaboration with Ed Piskor (Hip-Hop Family Tree, X-Men: Grand Design), which were uncompleted at the time of his death. All his signature 'Nard 'n' Pat' stories from Bijou Funnies are featured in this volume, as well as comics from Bogeyman, San Francisco Comic Book, Bizarre Sex, Teen-age Horizons of Shangri-la, a sampling of his Wacky Packages, Garbage Pail Kids, and other Topps Chewing Gum premiums, and acrylic paintings. Lynch also narrates his life story throughout the book, from his dysfunctional childhood to the day he selected his coffin and headstone, in a half-century series of interviews and correspondence with comic historian Patrick Rosenkranz. #1 New York Times bestselling author Garth Stein and acclaimed cartoonist Matthew Southworth (Stumptown) team up again for the second book in The Cloven series, an action-packed coming of age story about a mutant from the Pacific Northwest. In the eagerly anticipated Book Two, Dr. Kenneth Langner, a world-renowned geneticist and creator of the Cloven species, reveals himself to Seattle Stranger reporter Jake Arthur, who continues his in-depth research on the homeless encampment known as 'the Jungle.' When Langner turns up dead the next morning, Arthur realizes he's into something far more sinister than he realized. Meanwhile, in an effort to evade the paramilitary that have begun rounding up Cloven, Tuck is taken to Halcyon Meadows, a bizarre retreat of the true insiders-Supreme court justices, ex-presidents, movie stars, rock musicians, health gurus-those who are really in the know and who gather there every summer to worship goats. And to celebrate the existence of the first human/goat hybrid: The Cloven. And that's when things really start to get weird. Moody and mysterious and atmospheric as a fever dream, The Cloven is an action-packed coming of age story about James 'Tuck' Tucker, a genetically modified human organism known as a Cloven. The story follows Tuck's breakneck journey across the Pacific Northwest as he searches for his true home and identity. Written by Garth Stein (author of The Art of Racing in the Rain) and drawn by Matthew Southworth (co-creator of the graphic novel series Stumptown), two of today's bestselling and critically acclaimed storytellers, this is a raucous, funny, and dynamic series of sci-fi graphic novels. A revised and expanded edition of the Eisner Award nominated classic collection, featuring a new 4-page, all Segar Sunday section. More than a decade before he created the world's most famous cartoon sailor, Elzie Crisler Segar began his comics career in the movies. He drew cartoons for silent movie theater slides, the Charlie Chaplin comic strip, and a daily strip about Chicago's movies and entertainment. Then, in 1919, he penned his own 'small screen' creation for the newspapers, Thimble Theatre, where Popeye was to be born a decade later. This comprehensive volume features examples of all E.C. Segar's early comics and illustrations, with over 100 pre-Popeye Thimble Theatre Sunday pages including the complete run of the famed Western desert saga, a series that rivals his later work in superb art, storytelling, and humor. Newly revised and expanded, this new printing contains ten additional pages plus a 1920s-style Sunday comics section insert paying tribute to Segar and his comic creations featuring Charlie Chaplin's Comic Capers and Popeye's 'The Jeep.' Text and illustrations offer an in-depth history and commentary on the life and work of E. C. Segar by historians Paul C. Tumey and Jeet Heer, and best-selling author and journalist Michael Tisserand. Thimble Theatre is an essential part of any comics lover's library. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

by Josh Simmons In the thick of a dense wood, a young man comes upon a decrepit house and two teen-aged girls. Deciding to explore the abandoned house together, Simmons captures the aloof ennui and deep curiosity of being a teenager. The trio quickly become entangled in a love triangle that is as tense and ominous as the house itself. This adventurous, silent graphic novel demonstrates the solid strength of this young cartoonist and his storytelling ability. House is Josh Simmons' first full-length graphic novel after years of honing his craft on the humorous, underground mini-comic series Happy, and it is a visual and formal tour de force that proclaims Simmons a major cartooning talent of the new century! A two-wheeled journey across the landscape of America, and through the heart and mind of an artist. Eleanor Davis's bike tour from Tucson, Arizona to Athens, Georgia is a quest of epic proportions - not just geographically, which it surely is, but inwardly as well. While facing off formidable headwinds, drivers with reckless abandon, and screaming knee pain, the author confronts an even greater challenge - her own mind. Life on two wheels teaches her many lessons, and she narrates them with keen observation and self-deprecating candor through a series of funny, touching vignettes. Companionship from fellow travelers and the generosity of colorful strangers propel Davis along the open road. A tale of serendipitous encounters, surprising friendship, perseverance, and tenderness, Eleanor Davis's You & A Bike & A Road reveals the power, and truth, of the most efficient mode of human transportation - a bicycle. A visual guide to fascinating historical facts and philosophical musings on why and how the objects we buy, own, use, see and interact with - from tanks to iPhones - come into existence. We all live in a world of objects, yet we rarely stop to think about how and why they came to exist, why they look and feel the way they do, or what shapes our preferences and why we own and use the ones we do. In Things We Create, renowned concept designer, cartoonist, and sculptor Axel Brechensbauer pulls back the curtain and provides a visual guide to civilization's endless quest for the perfect human-made object. Told in eight chapters covering topics such as 'The Need of Objects,' 'Recreating Nature, 'Objects as Communication,' and 'Objects as Power,' Brechensbauer takes the reader on a rollicking tour through the history and creation of objects that comprise our world. He digs into the basics of design, discusses why certain some objects please us while others repel us, considers how the design of one object influences another, reveals how human curiosity keeps in step with technology. He answers questions such as, what makes objects so pleasing to use? Why do we create objects that are so contrary to those that appear in nature? What's the difference between an object that fills an emotional need and one that fulfills a practical one? What determines if a piece of furniture is a copy, an artifact, or art? What is the relationship between shape and emotion? Told with visual verve, wit, humor, and, above all, clarity, Things We Create is both a history of and a metaphysical study of physical objects - all the stuff we buy, we use, we collect, we need. As befits a book about the beauty and utility of objects, Things We Create is itself both a beautifully designed and executed object and an immensely fun and readable series of comics and diagrams.
