Gerry Conway wrote Daredevil, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and others. He was instrumental in Marvel’s 1970s horror boom with work on Man-Thing, Tomb of Dracula and Werewolf by Night. His years on Amazing Spider-Man yielded such historic highlights as the groundbreaking death of Gwen Stacy and the debut of the Punisher. He also wrote DC’s Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Legion of Super-Heroes. For TV, he has written and produced episodes of Diagnosis: Murder, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Huntress and Matlock.Jim Shooter entered the comic-book field at age 14 as writer and penciler of the “Legion of Super-Heroes” feature in Adventure Comics. Later moving to Marvel, he wrote Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Marvel Team-Up, Marvel Two-in-One and other titles. As editor in chief, he tightened Marvel’s publishing schedule; added new titles; nurtured fresh talent; launched the New Universe; and wrote the 12-issue Secret Wars and its sequel, Secret Wars II. Steve Parkhouse - was born and raised in postwar London, amidst chaos, poverty, and a singular lack of comics. This dire situation was remedied when some Scottish friends of his father began sending weekly relief packages of comics published by D.C. Thompson, the premier British publishers of the day. Needless to say, they were devoured avidly until he discovered American comics on spinners in the gift shops of various holiday resorts. Steve then began to attempt his own comics style of drawing and writing, eventually being accepted ona graphic design course at his local polytechnic. There he met fellow aspirant Barry (Winsor) Smith and they began hatching a cunning plan.It was simple, they decided; we'll go to New York and get work at Marvel Comics. What could possibly g wrong? Eighteen months later, at the age of eighteen and nineteen respectively, they were both working in the Marvel Bullpen in New York, getting the lie of the land and learning the trade from experts. Then U.S. Immigration decided thiswas a bad plan, and asked them (not too politely) to get the hell out. Nothing's changed much, has it? So, after ducking and diving and hiding in various apartments all over the city, the adventurers voluntarily deported themselves back to Britain, with six months of working experience to fall back on. With that qualification, Steve secured an editorial post in the Juveniles Department of IPC Magazines. There he met his future wife, Annie... was promoted to staff writer and his writing career began in earnest. The rest, as they say, is a total mystery. Fifty odd years on, he is still practicing the craft of storytelling with the express intention of getting it right. He thinks that you should be the judge of his efforts. He would also like to thank Mike Richardson and everybody at Dark Horse for their continued support and all those dollars. Jim Starlin introduced not only Thanos but also Shang-Chi and many other memorable characters. After seemingly killing both Adam Warlock and Thanos in one of Marvel’s earlier multi-title cosmic arcs — for which he won two Eagle Awards — Starlin wrote Marvel’s first graphic novel, The Death of Captain Marvel. Returning to Marvel to write Silver Surfer, he resurrected Adam Warlock and Thanos, both of whom figured prominently in a veritable franchise of miniseries he wrote and/or penciled: Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, Infinity Crusade, Infinity Abyss and more, plus the Warlock and the Infinity Watch and Thanos monthlies. Starlin continued to chart the saga of the Mad Titan in a recent series of original graphic novels.Ron Marz broke into comics in the early '90s with a lengthy run on Marvel’s Silver Surfer, followed by a stint on DC’s Green Lantern, where he co-created Kyle Rayner.
