esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
Over 350 pen-and-ink drawings by Edwin Austin Abbey collected in a single volume. Edwin Austin Abbey (1852-1911) was born just two years after the inaugural release of Harper's Monthly Magazine. Starting with his first published drawing in December 1870 at age 18, Abbey's life-long association with the publisher resulted in hundreds of drawings found within the pages of Harper's Monthly Magazine and Harper's Weekly as well as Harper & Brothers books. The resulting exposure throughout the U.S. and Europe secured an extensive level of recognition. Abbey had the rarefied appeal to everyone from the average reader to the most prestigious artists of the day. The inclusion of Abbey's illustrations in these periodicals helped to expand the reach of the poetry, stories and essays that they accompanied to a massive audience. This book focuses on Abbey's line art for the magazines and books published by Harper & Brothers, beginning with his earliest works as a new professional in the field. The collection contains over 350 drawings. These delineated the poetry of Robert Herrick and enhanced such books as The Deserted Village, Old Songs, She Stoops to Conquer and The Quiet Life. Drawings created for numerous short stories and poetry are displayed here as well. Also collected are Abbey's exquisite series of drawings done over the course of twenty years for The Comedies of William Shakespeare, followed by The Shakespeare Tragedies. His painstaking devotion to research while securing the appropriate costumes, props and models for his drawings was legendary. The results are some of the most revered illustrations ever created, which continue to astound aficionados and inspire artists generations after Abbey's last drawing was made. An extensive new essay by Alice A. Carter offers a fresh look at Edwin Austin Abbey, his life and career. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

Meticulously re-created historical sites are a staple of the bestselling Assassin's Creed series - and, in fact, are one of the main draws of Ubisoft's all-time bestselling property. Each new game transports gamers to a different era and locale, beginning with Jerusalem in the time of the Crusades and going on to explore Renaissance-era Italy, colonial America, Paris during the French Revolution, 19th-century London, and ancient Greece and Egypt. Assassin's Creed has provided a means to walk through the past and experience world history in a firsthand, immersive way. In Assassin's Creed: Atlas, previously unpublished maps, diagrams, and drawings illuminate all of the lands of antiquity featured across the series that have defined both real-world history and the games themselves. An insightful appreciation of the life and art of Tove Jansson, creator of the Moomin books, which are adored by children and adults across the globe. This book provides fresh insight into and a deep appreciation of the life and art of Tove Jansson (1914-2001), one of the most original, influential, and perennially enjoyed illustrators of the twentieth century. In this volume Paul Gravett examines Jansson's highly successful Moomin books, as well as her interpretations of classics such as Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and The Hunting of the Snark, and J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. Born in Helsinki among Finland's Swedish-speaking minority, Jansson was brought up with a love for making art and stories in a supportive, artistic family. Her first illustrated tales were published when she was fourteen years old and she went on to draw humorous and political cartoons as well as striking front covers for the satirical magazine Garm, in response to events in World War II. As she developed from art student to painter and muralist, and from bohemian to lesbian, she also created her Moomin world, which appeared in her first children's book in 1945 and then in newspaper strips. Beyond this imaginative achievement, Jansson also wrote many novels, documented here along with personal commentaries from her own writings. A title in The Illustrators series, which celebrates illustration as an art form, Tove Jansson offers a visually rich view into the life and work of this much-loved artist and writer. This lavish visual history-featuring more than 180 all-new illustrations-is a stunning introduction to House Targaryen, the iconic family at the heart of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. For hundreds of years, the Targaryens sat the Iron Throne of Westeros while their dragons ruled the skies. The story of the only family of dragonlords to survive Valyria's Doom is a tale of twisty politics, alliances and betrayals, and acts both noble and craven. The Rise of the Dragon chronicles the creation and rise of Targaryen power in Westeros, covering the history first told in George R. R. Martin's epic Fire & Blood, from Aegon Targaryen's conquest of Westeros through to the infamous Dance of the Dragons-the bloody civil war that nearly undid Targaryen rule for good. Packed with all-new artwork, the Targaryens-and their dragons-come vividly to life in this deluxe reference book. Perfect for fans steeped in the lore of Westeros, as well as those who first meet the Targaryens in the HBO series House of the Dragon, The Rise of the Dragon provides a must-have overview for anyone looking to learn more about the most powerful family in the Seven Kingdoms.
