esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Synopsis: AVON : EERIE COMICS #1 January 1947 It was January 1947 that the first real, indisputable horror comic came along - EERIE COMICS #1, published by Avon. It had a striking cover that was, well… eerie, depicting a strange-looking man with a knife on the steps of some sort of ruin, approaching a bound woman - a theme that was to be repeated countless times in the future . . . Whet your appetite on these horrors inside including 'The Eyes of the Tiger' by Bob Fujitani featuring a pet tiger who gets his first taste for blood - no surprises there then? 'Dead Man's Tale' by Jon Small gives us the story of a bottle that gave Myron Morgan wealth and how he died when it was destroyed. 'The Man-Eating Lizards' by Joe Kubert, when a plane goes down in the ocean, the surviving crew members find themselves on an island of giant, man-eating lizards. 'The Strange Case of Henpecked Harry' by Fred Kida, tells how Harry Horton plots the death of his wife, only to be driven mad by the guilt. It's hard to point to a particular source or inspiration, such as radio or the pulps, for any of these stories as they were not adaptations and didn't come from any existing series - yet here they are, together as probably the world's first true horror comic! This often unfairly forgotten 11-strong series (of which this volume captures the first seven issues) surely boasted some of the most magnificent covers of any of the EC wannabes of some sixty-plus years ago.One of these forgotten masters is Maurice Whitman; just check out the cover for #6! Plus you get EC's very own Jack Kamen regularly popping up inside. This was material that suggested unpleasantness rather than just stepped forward and pulled the old schlock-it-up lever. Heartily recommended for the more discerning horror comics reader. Collects issues #1-7, 1951 to 1953. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Thanks to the tireless Roy Thomas (yes, that man has no tires), PS's Roy Thomas Presents series has become the flagship of the company's reprint project, but there are a few folks yet to sample the goodies on offer. Boo! But fear not because, always sympathetic to those folks who need a little extra incentive (gentle persuasion, blackmail, out-and-out threats), we're making available, at a special pre-Christmas price, three volumes culled from Roy's RTP series starting with the first four issues of the legendary Planet Comics; the premier book of adventures of comicdom's first muck monster The Heap; plus the complete series featuring the one-time TV swashbuckler Captain Video and his Video Rangers. And, as long as supplies last, we're even throwing in a copy of our Showcase sampler containing everything we've been doing so far. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

St. John was a mid-sized comics publisher with a varied list of titles, and in June 1952 they joined the horror binge with two titles, Strange Terrors and Weird Horrors. Strange Terrors ended after seven issues, to be replaced by Nightmare #3, picking up from the Ziff-Davis series. However, they then combined the title Nightmare with the numbering from Weird Horrors, so that Weird Horrors #9 and Nightmare #3 were followed by Nightmare #10. And after Nightmare #13 the title was changed to Amazing Ghost Stories for its final three issues. Collects Nightmare #3 (October 1953) and #10-13 (December 1953 to August 1954).
