esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Walter Simonson (w & a & c) Last year, IDW Publishing released the inaugural Artist's Edition book, printing the entire Rocketeer saga by Dave Stevens from the original art and at the same size it was drawn. The book was a smash hit and quickly sold out. This year, IDW Publishing, in cooperation with MARVEL Comics, is pleased to offer the second book in the series: Walter Simonson's Thor: Artist's Edition! This collection will present Thor 337-340 and 360-362-Simonson's first story, followed by one of his favorite arcs. Thor #337 is one of the groundbreaking issues in modern comics, introducing the classic character, Beta Ray Bill. It was a runaway sellout when first released and it has only gained prominence with time. Simonson went on to write and draw approximately 40 issues of Thor and his legendary run on the title is an undisputed classic. All the pages in the Artist's Edition were scanned from Simonson's personal original art to ensure the highest possible quality reproduction. While appearing to be in black and white, each page was scanned in color to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art-for instance, corrections and blue pencils. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Before Walter Simonson's work with Marvel and DC, there was Star Slammers, a series first devised by Simonson during his college days. The Slammers would later be resurrected as a Marvel graphic novel, and then a miniseries. Simonson describes it thus: 'Once upon a time, there was a race of men who could out-shoot, out-fight, and out-kill anybody. They were paid fabulous sums to act as mercenaries. The practice became so lucrative, they decided to go into business. They became the most successful businessmen in history, and they called themselves…The Star Slammers!' The collected Star Slammers also features, published here for the very first time, Simonson's earliest version of the Slammers created for his college thesis at the Rhode Island School of Design. These stories predate his first professional comics work but strongly show the artist's keen sense of composition and design. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The publisher Fiction House was infamous for what anti-comics crusader Dr. Fredric Wertham called 'headlight comics,' i.e. comics featuring the ample female bosom. Superman's newspaper comic strips are among the most rare of all Superman collectibles. This comprehensive series helps remedy that gap in Superman history by bringing back into print every one of the Sunday newspaper strips. The Man of Steel stars in seven classic adventures as the 1950s 'Atomic Age' comes to a close. Two of the stories are original to the newspaper strip, while five were alternate versions of tales that were simultaneously published in the regular comic books. One of the featured adaptations is 'Superman Versus the Futuremen,' written by Batman co-creator Bill Finger, which retells Superman's origin. This concluding volume of Superman's Atomic Age Sundays reprints all strips from July 1, 1956 to October 11, 1959. Bullet points: * 'This book is a must have for any Superman fan. Loaded with Kryptonian goodness, this serial really focuses on the positive impact that Superman has had on our culture.' -Geeks of Doom * Advance solicited for December release! This short adventure tells the backstory of Corto Maltese first meeting Rasputin at the end of the Russo-Japanese War in 1905. The protagonist of this tale is not the 18-year-old Corto but Rasputin, a deserter from a Siberian rifle regiment, and the writer Jack London, who was a war correspondent in the region at that time. London is already friends with Corto and introduces the sailor to the unpredictable Russian, who even as a young man kills with disconcerting ease and is ready to lie and betray without hesitation. It is, however, 'the beginning of a beautiful friendship' that continues throughout the series. As a bonus, the book includes additional material that sets up the entire series, as well as several never-before published pages that Pratt intended for a continuation of the tale, in which Corto and Rasputin were to embark on a search for King Solomon's mines. Advance solicited for August. 'Classic adventure comics for adults, enjoyable but with depth. Strongly recommended.' -Library Journal (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Celebrate this milestone in the history of graphic novels, winner of the world's first-ever 'Best Graphic Novel' award, taking the prize in 1976 at the Angoulême Fesitval. Originally serialized beginning in 1967, this book is universally acknowledged as Hugo Pratt's masterpiece, in which he introduces Corto Maltese to the world. Corto is but one of a strong ensemble cast of characters whose lives permeate the entire 12-book series. It is here that we also meet the young and beautiful Pandora, her brother Cain, the mysterious criminal mastermind Monk, the grim and ferocious Rasputin, Lieutenant Slutter of the German Navy, and the natives Skull and Tarao. The Ballad of the Salty Sea is also hailed as the first example of the literary comic strip. Pratt was inspired by Conrad, Stevenson, and London, but even more directly by Henry de Vere Stacpool's Blue Lagoon, from which the author got the idea of a small island in the Pacific which he named 'Escondida.' Milton Caniff (w/a) America's premiere adventure comic strip thunders to its pre-War crescendo in an October, 1941 storyline so powerful, creator Milton Caniff was forced to take to the radio airwaves to explain why he chose to shock the nation with the death of a major character.
