esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

The complete two volume adventures of the notorious art trio of Carole, Alex, and Sam. Just in time for the release of Olympia this season comes a boxed set collecting The Grande Odalisque and Olympia, which form the complete, two volume saga of master art criminals Carole, Alex, and Sam. Specializing in the theft of fine art, the trio reinvents a profession that has lost much of its fun and insolence since its heyday in the early 20th century. After successfully stealing La Grande Odalisque by Ingrés from the Louvre (in Fantagraphics' acclaimed 2021 edition of the same name) and taking on the French Special Forces, the trio eyes Manet's Olympia in the eponymous sequel. Collectively the two books paint a vivid portrait of three of the most memorable characters in recent comics memory. Forming a trio as formidable as their protagonists, Bastien Vivès, Jérôme Mulot, and Florent Ruppert deliver a wickedly funny and explosive, grand symphony of adventure in this two book series, collected for the first time in a handsome, hardcover slipcase. From their inception in 1935, comic books - starring Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel - had been primarily written for and aimed at adolescents. There were always the occasional outlier artists who pushed back against the commercial constraints of comic books and envisioned the next evolutionary artistic leap in the artform: Charles Biro was one of those artists. In 1949, the ambitious Biro - who had previously co-created the realistically brutal comic Crime Does Not Pay- edited and wrote an oversized comic aimed at adults, called Tops. Like several other radical adult comics projects that would follow, it proved to be a commercial failure and lasted only two Life magazine-sized issues. The original comics have since become a legendary holy grail among comics fans and historians, fetching as much as $6,000 on the collector's market: written about but rarely seen and never reprinted. Until now. Fantagraphics' Tops collects both issues of these oversized experimental comics in their entirety. Some of the best craftsmen working in comics at that time drew these pulpy, sexy, and melodramatic stories: Dan Barry, George Tuska, and others. It includes two stunning pre-EC crime tales illustrated by Reed Crandall, reminiscent of his Crime SuspenStories work. Actor Melvyn Douglas (believe it or not) takes the reader on a tour of utopia, entitled 'How Would You Live Under A World Government?' - a positive spin on global Socialism! A treasure trove of fascinating and revelatory comics history for scholars and fans, this compilation includes an introduction by the editor, the historian and cartoonist Michael T. Gilbert, as well as several other essays providing background on the creation of the series and the publisher, editors, and cartoonists who realized it. It includes a chronicle in essay form of experimental, adult comics endeavors throughout the first half of the 20th century. Tops is a landmark work of historical importance and a mind-boggling reading experience from a bygone era meticulously restored and reproduced in a deluxe hardcover in its originally published dimensions. The second volume in Fantagraphics' English-language collection of the internationally beloved newspaper strip. Elves, witches, forest monsters, unicorns, children, talking cats and penguins⦠plus zombies with fitbits, Stephen King's Christine working as an Uber, and office politics? The bounds of a daily comic strip don't restrict Macanudo's imagination or subjects. With the range of The Far Side, the whimsy of Mutts, and the heart of Calvin & Hobbes, artist Liniers brings his distinctive illustrative line and sensitive watercolors to whatever crosses his mind on a given day. Readers of the previous volume will recognize some recurring characters and stock players, but each book stands alone, and every strip builds its own world. Whether commenting on pop culture, society, or the environment, or celebrating art, nature, or the act of reading, Liniers (Ricardo Siri) expresses his thoughts with joy and beauty. Most of them are funny, too. Beginning in 2002 in Buenos Aires, Macanudo steadily gained popularity around the world, and has been appearing in US newspapers since 2018. Optimism Is for the Brave is the second of a series of volumes collecting Liniers' groundbreaking strip. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Midge McCracken is the abrasive, self-destructive pessimist every office has. Not to mince words, she's a bitch: bitter, mistrustful, racist, and completely unfiltered in her words and thoughts. But she comes by it honestly, growing up with hateful, racist parents, suffering sexual abuse as an adolescent, experiencing an unwanted pregnancy, etc. Did we mention that this is a comedy? Roberta Gregory’s unflinching sense of humor is the engine driving Bitchy! This mammoth collection includes Gregory’s “Bitchy Bitch” stories, presenting a life from childhood into middle age, following the character through multiple decades. Along the way, Gregory’s wider cast of characters are introduced, notably Bitchy’s suffering and insufferable coworkers: the obnoxiously cheerful Sylvia (who never met a problem that positive vibes won’t cure); the upwardly mobile and power-hungry Pam (aka Bitchy’s boss); the intolerant, God-fearing Marcie; her hapless friend-with-benefits, Kenny; and many more. In 1976, Roberta Gregory released Dynamite Damsels — the first underground solo comic created and self-published by a woman. After contributing regularly to the influential anthologies Wimmen’s Comix and Gay Comix throughout the 1980s, she launched Naughty Bits in 1991 while working as a production artist at her publisher, Fantagraphics. It became the longest-running solo alternative comic book series by a female cartoonist, coming to an end in 2004 after an influential and pioneering 14-year, 40-issue run. The Bitchy Bitch stories remain the pinnacle of a historic career, and a highwater mark in comics and graphic novels over the past 40 years. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

A good old fashioned underground comic for our current times: a heady bouillabaisse of humor, philosophy, profanity, absurdism, and existentialism. From the pen of multi-talented indie musician (Islands, Unicorns) and cartoonist (Penguins) Nick Thorburn comes this perfect object of the comic book form. A 64-page color one-shot menagerie of interconnected comic strips that smartly channels the tradition of underground comix. Find out why those smarty pants at The Believer magazine say, "Thorburn makes sharp social commentary through a series of dark humor vignettes that revolve around macabre body horror, dalliances into the absurd, and the sociopolitical intricacies of human existence." During the 1950s, Abe Goodman-brother of Marvel Comics' publisher Martin Goodman-was the largest buyer of cartoons in the world. Publishing out of New York City under the Humorama banner, Goodman churned out scores of cheap digest-sized magazines boasting inventive titles like Romp, Stare and Joker that featured hackneyed jokes, cheesecake photos and the publications' bread and butter, single panel pin-up cartoons.Whiles the digests were often a dumping ground for cartoonists past their prime and for unused inventory that was too risqu? to be sold elsewhere, they were also a proving ground for neophyte gag cartoonist or a welcomed alternative to the daily grind of comic book sweatshops. And nowhere was this more evident than in the 1950s and 1960s when the digests featured the likes of Playboy's Jack Cole, Archie's Dan DeCarlo and glamour girl legend Bill Ward. In addition to these three pin-up cartooning luminaries, other notable who contributed to the pages of the Humorama digests included longtime illustrator Jefferson Machamer; Basil Wolverton, who influenced a generation of underground cartoonists; Mad's Dave Berg ('The Lighter Side'); and future syndicated cartoonists George Crenshaw ('Belvedere'), Bill Hoest ('The Lockhorns') and Brad Anderson ('Marmaduke').With this latest volume in its popular pin-up series, Fantagraphics continues its commitment to showcasing the best of the classic pin-up cartoon artists. Drawing from private collections of original art and thousands of Humorama digests, editor Alex Chun has once again selected the best of these long out-of-print images. THE ULTIMATE BOOK FOR PRINCE VALIANT COLLECTORS Out of print for over a decade, The Prince Valiant Companion has become a Holy Grail for collectors of the series. Now, in anticipation of the seventy-fifth anniversary of comics' longest-running adventure strip, and to celebrate their own just-launched reprinting of the strip's classic earliest years, Fantagraphics is proud to present an expanded version of this hard-to-find collector's item. Compiled by award-winning Foster biographer Brian M. Kane, The definitive Prince Valiant Companion beautifully showcases the careers of artists Hal Foster, John Cullen Murphy, and Gary Gianni. In addition to updating the original version's story synopsis section with over thirty years of material, The definitive Prince Valiant Companion also contains rare and new articles. Included in this volume is a never before reprinted newspa per feature from 1949, Foster's final interview conducted by Arn Saba, an extensive interview with John Cullen Murphy, and a new interview with the current Prince Valiant creative team of Gary Gianni and Mark Schultz. The Companion also contains a new, in-depth article by Kane on Foster's artistic influences, as well as a Foreword by comics historian Brian Walker, and an Introduction by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ray Bradbury. A special feature of The Companion is a sixteen-page color section of carefully selected strips from the entire run of the comic. Showcasing this section are eight pages by Foster, scanned and digitally restored from original color engraver's proofs that had been carefully stored and preserved for over forty years. For the first time ever, collectors will be able to see Prince Valiant as Foster intended it to be seen, with all of his fine inked line work intact. Rounding out this section are four John Cullen Murphy pages from the Murphy family's collection of proofs, and four Gary Gianni pages that were selected by the artist and digitally recolored under his supervision. Proceeds from the sale of The definitive Prince Valiant Companion will go to The Friends of Hal Foster Society to aid in the creation of the Prince Valiant statue in Foster's birthplace of Halifax, Nova Scotia. by Johnny Ryan Johnny Ryan is the one-man Mad magazine behind the quarterly comic-book series, Angry Youth Comix. Collecting issues #6-10 of Angry Youth Comix, Johnny Ryan's XXX Scumbag Party features such signature Ryan characters as Boobs Pooter, Loady McGee, Sinus O'Gynus, Baby Johnson, and Blecky Yuckerella. Featured stories include: 'Sherlock McRape in 'Who Hit Nelly in the Belly with Jelly,' 'Battle of the Century' (a thinly-veiled satire of two well-known, anachronistic graphic novelists), the epic 'O'Pussy,' and even-more-epic 'Dry Gulch Follies 2005,' featuring just about every character Ryan ever created in one 25-page comedy masterpiece. by Mark Kalesniko Alex is the story of failed dreams and the consequences faced by a man who discovers that accomplishing his career goals are no route to inner peace. It is a story about the redemptive power of art, and about how fleeting those chances for redemption can be in a society that emphasizes different values. This existential, 250-page exploration of depression and the healing power of art was originally published over ten years ago as a six-issue comic book series and is collected here as one book for the first time.
