La matrice letteraria di Psycho-Pass, anime di genere fantascientifico scritto da Urobuchi Gen e prodotto per la televisione da Production I.G nel 2012, è uno degli elementi cardine della serie: dai riferimenti diretti al Grande Fratello di George Orwell alle citazioni letterarie e cinematografiche all’opera di Philip K. Dick, passando per le trame gotiche suggerite nelle stagioni successive, l’opera è attraversata da un fil rouge che collega gli elementi di trama a tutta una serie di corrispettivi letterari e filosofici di matrice occidentale. Questa ricerca nasce dall’intento di rinvenire legami anche con opere non direttamente citate nella serie e nei suoi sequel, ma che per loro natura esistono all’interno dello stesso sistema di narrazione. Che si tratti di mettere in relazione il Sybil System con il Panopticon di Jeremy Bentham o analizzare il profilo dei protagonisti sulla base dei personaggi shakespeariani, il saggio si propone di inquadrare l’universo fantascientifico di Psycho-Pass all’interno del dizionario globale del distopico.
