esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Johnny Dynamite, created by Pete Morisi, was a hard-boiled private detective, known as 'The Wild Man from Chicago.' Good friends with the D.A. but readily accepted by the underworld, he smoked cigarettes constantly, cursed frequently, and had a bad habit of getting shot and beaten by his enemies. But always gave as good as he got; he was an experienced and persistent detective taking his cases personally and killing many of his early foes, claiming they were reaching for a weapon. Myra Benz, who had shot him in the eye, was brazenly killed without any true justification beyond his own sense of justice. The other main artist across Comic Media titles was Don Heck, who in 1955 would be recruited by Stan Lee to Atlas Comics, later to become Marvel Comics. Edited by Andrei Molotiu Abstract comics? Don't all comics tell stories? How can a comic be abstract? Well, as it happens, beginning with the experiments of Saul Steinberg, through some of the more psychedelic creations of R. Crumb and Victor Moscoso, and with increasing frequency in recent years, cartoonists and other artists have played with the possibility of comics whose panels contain little to no representational imagery, and which tell no stories other than those that result from the transformation and interaction of shapes across the layout of a comic page. Reduced to the most basic elements of comics -the panel grid, brushstrokes, and sometimes colors- abstract comics highlight the formal mechanisms that underlie all comics, such as the graphic dynamism that leads the eye (and the mind) from panel to panel or the aesthetically rich interplay between sequentiality and page layout. Abstract Comics, edited by Andrei Molotiu, an art historian as well as one of the best-known contemporary abstract-comic creators, is the first collection devoted to this budding genre. It gathers the best abstract comics so far created, including early experiments in the form by cartoonists primarily known for other types of comics, such as Gary Panter, Moebius, Patrick McDonnell, or Lewis Trondheim, and pieces by little-known pioneers such as Benoit Joly, Bill Boichel and Jeff Zenick, as well as by recent creators who have devoted a good part of their output to perfecting the form, such as Ibn al Rabin, Billy Mavreas, Mark Staff Brandl, and many others. It also features first attempts, commissioned specifically for this anthology, by well-known cartoonists such as James Kochalka, Ivan Brunetti, J.R. Williams and Warren Craghead. Comprehensive in scope, Abstract Comics gathers work not only from North America, but also from France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand, showing the rise in popularity of the genre to be a true international phenomenon. In the process, the anthology highlights the wide variety of approaches taken to the combination of abstraction and sequential art - approaches resulting in work that is not only graphically bold, but also often proves to be surprisingly humorous or emotionally disturbing. Kerry D. Soper reminds us of The Far Side's groundbreaking qualities and cultural significance in Gary Larson and The Far Side. In the 1980s, Gary Larson (b. 1950) shook up a staid comics page by introducing a set of aesthetic devices, comedic tones, and philosophical frames that challenged and delighted many readers, even while upsetting and confusing others. His irreverent, single panels served as an alternative reality to the tame comedy of the family-friendly newspaper comics page, as well as the pervasive, button-down consumerism and conformity of the Reagan era. We've unearthed some more little horrors for our second volume of Classic Horror Comics! Starting with Haunted Thrills #3 (October 1952) and Haunted Thrills #7 (March 1953) where scientist George Norton saves the brain of an executed wife killer, making contact with it to develop it's evil ways? Then Terrifying Tales #12 (April 1953) complete with a classic L.B.Cole cover, where not even Jo-Jo realized what horrors lurked beneath the surface of a crystal clear lake! Finishing our grim journey with Weird Chills #1 (July 1954) where the doctor oversees a blood transfusion between a woman and a zombie! And in Weird Chills #3 (November 1954) we discover the 'Terror on TV'-vampiric monsters take over the studio, attacking the cast and crew, while the audience just think it's all part of the show? Momma always said TV was bad for you, so you better stick to reading the comics! (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
