esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
THE FIRST FOUR YEARS OF PEANUTS SUNDAYS IN SPARKLING, REMASTERED COLOR! Since their original publication, Peanuts Sundays have almost always been collected and reprinted in black and white, and generations of Peanuts fans have grown up enjoying this iteration of these strips. But many who read Peanuts in their original Sunday papers remain fond of the striking coloring, which makes for a surprisingly different reading experience. It is for these fans (and for Peanuts fans in general who want to experience this alternate/original version) that we now present a series of larger, Sundays-only Peanuts reprints, which more closely duplicate that delightful, Sunday-morning reading experience and brings a splash of real color to Schulz's cast of colorful characters. Designed as a series of ten massive coffee-table quality books, each one containing a half-decade's worth of Sunday strips, Peanuts Every Sunday will be a proud addition to any Peanuts fan's bookshelf. As with most strips, Peanuts showed by far the quickest and richest development in its first decade, and Peanuts Every Sunday: 1952-1955, by compiling every strip from the first four years, offers a fascinating peek at Schulz's evolving creative process. Not only does the graphic side of the strips change drastically, from the strip's initial stiff, ultra-simple stylizations through a period of uncommonly lush, almost Pogo-ishly detailed drawings to something close to the final, elegant Peanuts style we've all come to know and love, but several main characters are gradually introduced - oddly enough, usually as infants who would then grow up to full, articulate Peanut-hood! - and then refined: Schroeder, Lucy, and Linus (Sally will make her very first appearance as a baby in our next volume.) Following in the footsteps of Fantagraphics' acclaimed presentation of the Carl Barks material in Walt Disney's Donald Duck, Peanuts Every Sunday: 1952-1955 has been scrupulously re-colored to match the original syndicate coloring (including some unusual colors for Charlie Brown's trademark zig-zag shirt, before it was officially yellow), and is being printed using the same process of 'mellowing' out of tones to avoid the sharp colors that sometimes mar reprints of syndicated strips - allowing readers once again to plunge back into Charles Schulz's marvelous world. The complete run of the groundbreaking young adult vampire series created by Moto Hagio, a shojo/shonen-ai manga pioneer and one of the world's most influential cartoonists. The Poe Clan: a race of undead that feeds on the energy of the living, whiling away the centuries in a village of roses where time and geography have no meaning. Circumstances lead to a brother and sister, Edgar and Marybelle, being initiated into the clan too young, and therefore doomed to live out eternity forever on the brink of adulthood until a wooden stake or a silver bullet should cut them down. The Poe Clan's narrative spans the mid-1700s to the 1970s: generations of humans' lives are profoundly affected by Edgar, Marybelle, and Alan Twilight, a 14-year-old whom Edgar embraces in the 1800s. In this groundbreaking manga, Moto Hagio explores what it means to live and die, to have loved and lost. Fantagraphics is proud to present the complete 1970s run of this best-selling manga series in English for the first time. Please note: This title is a traditional work of manga and reads back to front and right to left. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Discover the bawdy, swashbuckling life of one of the greatest painters in history through Milo Manara's passionate and personal tribute to his artistic idol. Caravaggio: The Palette and the Sword Volume 1 is the first half of Milo Manara's two-volume epic biography of the hot-tempered Italian master painter. It depicts Caravaggio's early years in Rome as he struggles to capture truth on canvas, only to have his art condemned to be burned by the Church. He then is forced to flee the city when he kills a man in righteous fury over the death of a prostitute. The two volumes of Caravaggio mark the return of Manara to U.S. readers and the debut of Fantagraphics' new series, The Milo Manara Signature Edition, featuring affordable paperbacks of maestro Manara's internationally acclaimed work. (Volume 2 will follow in Spring 2025.) Discover the bawdy, swashbuckling life of one of the greatest painters in history through Manara's passionate, personal tribute to his artistic idol, Michelangelo Merisi, whom the world would come to know as Caravaggio. A chance encounter with a misplaced flyer leads to disaster as a seemingly ordinary eyesight-correction operation takes on sinister overtones. 'Correct your sight - See what you've been missing.' An unnamed man decides to adjust his sight, setting him and the reader down a path of confusion and mistrust. As optical defects begin to emerge from the operation, the man begins to doubt his own senses. Impressionable and easily alarmed, the man comes to suspect he has received much more than he paid for. Set in a bleak world without much to see, cosmic dangers lurk just out of sight in the corner of one's eye. If only there was a way to see them better… Fixed views deteriorate in this warped account of a surgical procedure gone awry. As the man's vision continues to change in unforeseen ways, he plunges down a path of confusion and intrigue, no longer sure what to trust. Are the perceived dangers present, or merely thought to be, and which is worse? Shifty and withholding, steeped in paranoia, Laser Eye Surgery is a comedically unsettling rumination on perception and its trappings - and a formidable debut graphic novel by New York cartoonist Walker Tate. Ho Che Anderson has spent over 10 years researching, writing, and drawing King, a monumental graphic biography that liberates Martin Luther King Jr. from the saintly, one-dimensional, hagiographic image so prevalent in pop culture. Here is King -father, husband, politician, deal broker, idealist, pragmatist, inspiration to millions- brought to vivid, flesh-and-blood life. Out of print since 2006, King is our most-requested reprint. In recognition of the advances made in American social equality that has made it possible to elect America's first black President, and in time to celebrate Martin Luther King Day (January 26, 2010), Fantagraphics Books is publishing King: the special Edition, a newly designed volume that includes the original 240-page graphic biography, as well as nearly a hundred additional pages of 'extras,' including: o 'Black Dogs' is a 14-page prelude to King, a dialogue between a young black couple expecting a child, living in LA in the aftermath of the Rodney King upheaval, a raw and inflected conversation between husband and wife and their racial attitudes in a post-King world; o Excerpts from the diary and notebook the author kept when researching and writing King, with interstitial notes written specifically for this volume commenting on the method he used to conceived and execute the book; o Preparatory sketches, discarded images and pages, an interview conducted at the time of the 3rd volume's publication, and excerpts from the draft of the script; o An epilogue titled 'Assassin,' written and drawn for this new edition, in which Anderson explores the question of whether James Earl Ray actually shot King. Caroline Longstreet, one of the observers who comments on King's life throughout the book, is obsessed with the assassination, won't let it rest, and pursues her own private investigation and ultimately confronts the reasons why it's held her in its grip so long. Anderson's biography traces King's life from his childhood in Atlanta and his education at Booker T. Washington High School, and his subsequent centrality to the civil rights movement when, in 1955, he organized the successful Montgomery Bus Boycott; his founding of the Southern Christian leadership Conference in 1957; his Nobel Prize in 1964; his help in organizing the 1966 March on Washington and his 'I Have a Dream' speech; and the tragic moment on April 4, 1968 when he was shot dead on the balcony of the Loraine Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. Anderson's expressionistic visual style is wrought with dramatic energy; panels evoke a painterly attention to detail but whose juxtapositions propel King's story with cinematic momentum. Anderson's successful use of the comics form to tell a major work of nonfiction has drawn favorable comparisons to Art Spiegelman's Maus: A survivor's Tale and Joe Sacco's safe Area Gorazde: The War In Eastern Bosnia 1992-1995. King won a1995 Parents' Choice Award. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

FRESHEN YOUR FRATERNITY WITH THESE FOLLIES! Do you wish to separate the jolly good fellows from the dour sour pusses from those who seek to ASCEND TO THEIR SIDE DEGREES-but you suffer from lack of imagination when it comes to constructing elaborate hazing rituals and DEVICES? Does fake vomit, joy buzzers and a party pack of fake moustaches only produce yawns, rather than giggles, among your once-merry members? Well, look no further than Catalog No. 315: Burlesque and Side Degree Specialties: Paraphernalia and Costumes, in which the manufacturers De Moulin Bros. & Co. from Greenville, Ill. feature the finest electro-dropo benches, goat-shaped tricycles, electric branding irons (and much much more)! Not only does this 1930 catalog, reproduced with marvelous 21st century machinery, provide tightly rendered pen-and-ink period illustrations and detailed product descriptions, it also has helpful how-tos and scripts to aid in the pulling of these pranks on initiates! (WARNING: Fantagraphics Books is in no way responsible for any resultant maiming, crippling, immolation, or disfigurement resulting from the construction and/or use of devices pictured in this catalogue. At least, we don't think so.) Today, DeMoulin Bros. & Co. is one of the largest suppliers of costumes for marching bands in the United States. But in 1930 the company produced an amazing array of props and devices created specifically to be used in minor 'hazing' of candidates in the side degrees of various fraternal organizations. The great 1930 DeMoulin Bros. & Company Fraternal Supply Catalog No. 315 is truly a holy grail for the prankster, arm-chair sadist and those interested in the some of the zanier historic arcana lurking behind that neighborhood odd-fellows lodge. This is the ultimate desert-island book for pranksters looking for something edgy and new to dream about, Rube Goldberg-like devices created to instill terror and bemused respect, before the candidate ascends to receive a more sublime form of illumination. All in good fun, it is-or was-the American way! (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Expanding Fantagraphics' project to reprint Marvel Comics' 1950s genre titles, this volume blasts off to space opera adventure. In the vein of earlier comics-to-multimedia stars Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon, Atlas Comics launched their own pulp hero in 1951, looking ahead to the futuristic year 2000. Across five issues of Space Squadron (and one of Space Worlds), headline talents including George Tuska, Werner Roth and Allen Bellman (with back-up features by Joe Maneely, Christopher Rule, George Klein and Vern Henkel) showed Captain Jet Dixon and his Space Squadron blasting into action, facing cosmic threats like 'The Armada of Death,' 'The Space Demons,' 'Terror from the Deep,' 'The Temptress of Jupiter,' and 'The Midnight Horror.' Come 1953, Hank Chapman and Joe Maneely gazed further into the future, envisioning the distant year 2075 and the adventures of Speed Carter, Spaceman. Scripted throughout by Chapman, Maneely launched and drew the first three issues before handing off to one issue each by Mike Sekowsky, George Tuska and Bob Forgione, with back-up features by John Romita, Maneely, and Bill Savage. As other aspects of the Atlas line leaned into the peak of pre-Code horror, the Captain of the Space Sentinels and young cadet Johnny Day battled monstrous aliens with stories including 'The Space Trap,' 'A Slaughter in Space,' 'Die, Spaceman, Die,' and 'The Thing in Outer Space.' Unseen in 70 years, scanned in high resolution, restored to perfection, and packaged as one extra-sized, beautiful hardcover volume, In the Days of the Rockets will open a wormhole to the early cold-war four-color era of futuristic science fantasy. HANK CHAPMAN (1915-1973) wrote steadily for a variety of comics publishers between 1940 and 1967, usually uncredited, but he has been identified as the author of several hundred stories. He is most known for his war stories while on staff at Atlas in the 1950s and at DC in the '50s and '60s. JOE MANEELY (1926-1958) landed at Timely in 1949 following the Street & Smith line's collapse and freelanced for Timely/Atlas for the next eight years, becoming one of the most prolific and important artists of the Atlas period. MIKE SEKOWSKY (1923-1989) was a prolific workman of the Silver Age of comics, notably co-creating the Justice League of America for DC in 1960 and having a run as writer/artist on Wonder Woman. But he began at Timely, drawing everything from Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal to The Human Torch and The Sub-Mariner. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

by Various Another great Arf book for 2008, featuring one of the greatest cartoonists of all time - Milt Gross! The Gross-ness begins on the cover with a stunning painting by the Count of Cartoons depicting Uncle Sam as he grinds up a sea of immigrants into a parade of classic comic strip characters. During the 1920s Gross drew a comic strip that left the last panel blank for aspiring artists. Arf series editor Craig Yoe has drafted a Who's Who of contemporary cartoonists to complete Gross' unfinished masterpieces, among them Art Spiegelman, Patrick McDonnell, R. Crumb, Bil Keane, Johnny Ryan, Jaime Hernandez, Mike Mignola, and more! For the history buff, Comic Arf delivers with showcases of Dudley Fisher, Arch Dale, and a hard-hitting chapter entitled 'The 15 Most Powerful Anti-War Cartoons of History.'
