esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

In this issue we embrace Thomas Fluharty, one of the usual gang of idiots from MAD magazine during the 1990s, talks about his artwork and shows us some of his caricatures. Next we visit Arantza Sestayo and admire her fantasy images, then we go back in time and meet Caran d'Ache, whose work influenced many comic strip artists from the 20th century. In August 1914 much of Europe was pitched into a war which would eclipse all others in terms of its industrialised ferocity. In an era where photography and film recording were still in their infancy, much of the news was relayed through the work of reportage artists. Pre-eminent amongst such artists was Fortunino Matania who was The Sphere's artist-on-the-spot for events ranging from coronations to colliery disasters. Sent to a variety of fronts to cover the conflict, his illustrations created a gripping and, at times, life-affirming testimony to those traumatic times. For the first time ever, this book collects those images in large format so that they can be viewed as they were intended. OVER 150 paintings and drawings on the World War 1 conflict, depicting all its horrors and special moments. His work inspired many contemporary artists: Annigoni and Russell Flint both visited his studio, and many comic strip artists collected his work including Al Williamson, Roy Krenkel, Frank Frazetta, John Bolton, Bernie Wrightson as well as film directors such as Cecil B DeMille and Alfred Hitchcock. One of the all-time greats is featured in this very special issue. John Watkiss may not be a name familiar to many readers, but within the world of film, comics and gallery art he is rightly regarded as being one of the most exceptional talents of recent times. The son of a miner, he taught himself how to draw the human form from memory aided by a battered copy of a book by George Bridgman. By the time he arrived at art college he was a better draughtsman than any of the tutors working there. He taught life drawing, sold paintings to the rich and famous and created over 300 massive paintings that inspired the Disney Tarzan movie. An incredible roller-coaster ride of massive highs and lows-accompanied by some of the most mesmerizing art you have seen-this is an issue you will not want to miss! John M. Burns was one of Britain's, if not the world's, finest continuity artists. In a career spanning over 60 years, he produced vast amounts of work for numerous British weeklies including TV Express, The Hotspur, Boys' World, Diana, Wham!, Lady Penelope, TV Action, Look-in, 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine as well as working for publishers in Europe and the USA. Although always in demand, John found time between his numerous long term work commitments to help John Dakin in his quest to revive the British newspaper comic strip. Unfortunately this revitalisation never happened, but over a 15 year period, both Johns created characters, strips and full color pages that, until now have barely been seen by the public. Reproducing 40 color pages, including all 25 pages of their unfinished epic, A Surfeit of Assassins, numerous strips, sketches and roughs, this book truly reveals the unseen art of John M. Burns. Originally published in War Picture Library #49 and Air Ace Picture Library #11, #37 and #54, these four stories showcase the art of the great Ferdinando Tacconi. His style is immediately recognizable, with a very clear line work and some interesting curly cues done in pen and ink. He wisely used an uncluttered art that, with the passage of time, became more and more limited to the essential. The care he applied to the environment and details of each panel he drew, especially in his way of presenting vehicles or his beloved aircraft, made him one of the top artists around the world. In fact, Tacconi would never hide his deep love for flying machines, which accompanied him throughout his career, both inside and outside the comic pages he drew. All four of the stories in this collection were drawn by the great Ruggero Giovannini and were originally published in Thriller Picture Library issues 187, 270, 286 and 327 between 1957 and 1960. Today, Giovannini is mainly remembered in England for the many western, adventure and historical comic strips he drew in a realistic style, packed with plenty of action on each page. His style, inspired by Milton Caniff and Will 'Red Barry' Gould, has a way of telling a story which is fast-paced, occasionally using heavy shadows, and accompanied with his quickly rendered, yet effective, inking. Equally at ease in any time period, from Ancient Rome to the Wild West, we are pleased to bring Giovannini's dynamic artwork before a modern audience. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
