L’America che Donald Trump ha sempre voluto è giunta al suo apice: una grossa frontiera, una muraglia invalicabile è stata costruita per difendere il paese da invasori e immigrati. Niente entra e niente esce. Nei decenni le risorse finiscono, i ribelli difendono le riserve verdi dalle industrie governative, la gente muore e lo scenario diviene postapocalittico. Non si possono lasciare gli Stati Uniti, non da vivi almeno. Lucreline e Maximov sono due reietti, leve della ribellione conosciuta come Black Mountain Ghosts. Lottavano per proteggere le riserve naturali nel sud del paese, ma il governo americano ebbe la meglio su di loro. Maximov fu quasi ucciso e reso privo di qualsiasi capacità comunicativa e di ragionamento, al pari di un animale. Dopo esser stato salvato dalla compagna, l’unico istinto che gli rimane è quello di protezione verso Lucreline, che invece continua a lottare come cacciatrice di taglie per trovare una cura alle menomazioni dell’amato e lasciare quel paese infernale.
