esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
Ernest Hemingway: Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winner, war hero, famed novelist, journalist, adventurer - and inspiration to Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, and Goofy! The year: 1999. The place: Italy. Fan-favorite Venetian Disney cartoonist Giorgio Cavazzano dared a creative team to take its cues from Ernest Hemingway for a striking, cinematic, and occasionally silly new series of Duckburg tales! In this original Disney collection, Hemingway's 'The Battler' and 'The Killers' inspire new Mickey and Peg Leg Pete parodies while our title adventure, with Mickey meeting 'Ernest' in person! From Donald's bid for knighthood as 'The Duck Who Would Be King' to Peg Leg Pete's invasion of a diner in 'Bad Boys' and Uncle Scrooge's shark-wrangling in 'The Older Man and the Sea,' these epics range from direct pastiches to shorts loosely based on 'Papa' Hemingway's work - each paired with its authors' 'liner notes,' telling the fascinating tale of how and why they were inspired. Genova-born Andrea Freccero was trained at Milan's Accademia Disney and is today Art Supervisor for Panini's Italian Disney titles, as well as one of the most celebrated Donald and Scrooge cover artists around the world. Alessandro Perina is the beloved artist of such modern Disney comics classics as 'Scrooge's Last Adventure' and numerous X-Mickey and Wizards of Mickey tales. Stefano Turconi was born in Milan and attended that city's School of Applied Arts at Castello Sforzesco. Turconi is famed for both Disney Duck adventures and fan-favorite Disney sci-fi series W.I.T.C.H. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

In the works for several years, Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant Sketchbooks: An Illustrated Memoir presents never-before-published Prince Valiant art by the strip's legendary creator, Hal Foster, collected in a series of six annotated portfolio volumes. Part sketchbooks, part biography, part tutorial, part memoir—Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant Sketchbooks is an unprecedented look into Foster’s personal life and creative process during his final nine years on the strip. It's also a fascinating look behind the curtains as Foster coached and interacted with his chosen successor: John Cullen Murphy. Produced with the full permission and participation of the Foster and Murphy families, this series is a testament to author and Prince Valiant historian Brian M. Kane’s research prowess and determination to bring Hal Foster’s creative process to light. This uniquely intimate view of Foster's creative process is a long-awaited dream come true for Prince Valiant fans.Over the course of these volumes, Kane annotates with painstaking clarity and thoroughness 366 penciled layout pages, 40 character sketches, and 577 text pages of Foster’s descriptions and instructions for each panel. Also featured are an additional 143 pieces of art, mostly by Foster, 100 photographs detailing his life and career, and 123 personal letters and notes, all adding immeasurably to this exploration of Foster’s life and art, as well as his collaboration with Murphy. Stories include Severin and Dixon’s “By Rail to Vladivostock,” Murray and Golden’s “The Nam, 1967,” Glanzman’s “Of War and Peace: The Trinity,” Jungkuntz’s Blood & Gutz series, and Trimpe’s Skywarriors series.Savage Tales of the 1980s reprints all 8 issues of the magazine’s run, the first time they have seen print since 1986 — nearly 40 years ago! Few comic book series can claim to have influenced a generation of cartoonists, comics fans, and comedians the way Joe Matt’s Peepshow did during its fourteen issues from 1992 to 2006. With an often alarming and always hilarious compulsion to confess, Matt found no aspect of his life that wasn’t more grist for the humor mill: his dysfunctional (and sometimes abusive) relationships, his Catholic repression, his horrible social skills, his addiction to pornography, his masturbation habits, etc. Yes, the character Joe Matt was usually an insufferable outsider, but in the hands of Joe Matt the writer/artist, his life was depicted with an eye and ear for human folly that rivalled R. Crumb, as well as an entertainer’s instinct and sense of comedic timing to rival Larry David, and it made Peepshow one of the most essential reads of its era. This book collects for the first time the entire original fourteen-issue series in one hardcover volume, as well as the posthumously-published fifteenth issue from 2024 (detailing Matt’s move to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue an ill-fated HBO adaptation of his work), each presented as painstakingly-restored facsimiles of the original issues. This definitive Joe Matt collection also includes other art and ephemera from the artist’s personal archives, including a hand-written introduction to a complete Peepshow collection that at the time was purely hypothetical and was only discovered after his death in 2023. Peepshow is rounded out with an insightful afterword by Diana Schutz, the Will Eisner Hall of Fame comics writer and editor, and longtime friend of Matt’s (and sister of Trish, Matt’s ex-girlfriend and key player in Peepshow’s cast). by Igort Baobab focuses again on the orphaned eight-year-old Japanese boy from a century ago, Hiroshi. A toy is stolen in the village, and Hiroshi is wrongly accused of its theft; also, his grandmother realizes that she will die soon and tells Hiroshi that an old friend of his father's is coming to fetch him and bring him to Tokyo. Meanwhile, on the other side of the globe, the burgeoning cartoonist Celestino is publishing in new comics in the Eco di Papassinas newspaper, but a racist right-wing group take over the paper. Baobab is the most ambitious of the 'Ignatz' line, with a complex, globe-spanning series of narratives that explore the world of hope, dreams, and creativity. (immagine) Categoria: Comics

Fans of Maria Bamford's acclaimed quasi-autobiographical Lady Dynamite Netflix series already know of her romance with LA painter Scott Marvel Cassidy, as well as her droll pug sidekicks Blueberry and Bert. Now the story has been recounted in the graphic novella Hogbook and Lazer Eyes, written by Bamford/Cassidy, drawn by Cassidy, and all told by the rescue dogs they've adopted. For those unfamiliar with the story, newly single fortysomethings Maria Bamford and Scott Cassidy each signed up on the dating site OkCupid, under the respective usernames 'Hogbook' and 'Lazer Eyes.' They went on a date, and then another, and soon, despite a history of Bipolar II disorder and unhealthy relationships for each of them, they fell in love and were married in 2015. We view all of this through the prism of their pug housemates, including Blueberry and Bert (who has an unnatural obsession with Michael Flatley of 'Riverdance' fame), and the elderly bonded pair Betty and Arnold (who recount their star turn as interplanetary canine scientists in the second season of Lady Dynamite). Cassidy's fine art training translates with ease into graphic storytelling, with a naturalistic illustrative style that is a pitch-perfect match for Bamford's comic timing, making Hogbook and Lazer Eyes a beautifully illustrated love story, told by some incredibly charming pugs. Scott Marvel Cassidy is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts whose work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and elsewhere. Maria Bamford is a writer, actor, and stand-up comedian. They live in Los Angeles, CA. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels Annullato/esaurito (Will Resolicit)

The 1950s boom in horror comics saw Atlas Comics' entrée into the genre. Beginning in March 1952, Amazing Detective Cases began detailing cases where justice was served in supernatural fashion and beginning in May 1953, the adventures in Men’s Adventures were taken over by ghosts, murderous revenge, and psychological terror. The cream of Atlas’ artistic line-up — including recent EC stars and future Marvel staples – rose to the grisly challenge of the horror genre. Each issue is crammed with four condensed tales of creeping dread, ironic comeuppance, or startling twists, all from a different artist or team.Among the short, sharp shocks included in this volume are the mini masterpieces "The Eerie Escape" by B. Krigstein, "The Torture Master!" by Russ Heath, The Drowning Witch" by Reed Crandall and "The 3rd Corpse" by Bill Everett. Stories by Gene Colan, John Romita, Joe Sinnott, Dick Ayers, Jim Mooney, Paul Reinman and George Tuska, all of whom remained through the shift to Marvel Comics, additionally fill out these issues, along with Atlas regulars Fred Kida, Mort Lawrence, Mike Sekowsky and Myron Fass. Notably included is the first appearance of "Gorilla Man" by Robert Q. Sale, a character brought back in Marvel's contemporary Agents of Atlas series, and part of their ongoing continuity.Collecting Amazing Detective Cases #11-14 and Men’s Adventures #21-26, Shiver As You Read! is a perfect companion to Adventures Into Terror, Venus, and the other titles of the Atlas Comics Library. By Peter Bagge Fans of Peter Bagge's generation-defining, satirical fiction may not realize this, but the cartoonist doubles as an opinionated cuss, and has been contributing provocative (but still hilarious) comic-strip opinion pieces to Reason magazine for the last several years... finally collected in this volume. Although a libertarian by inclination (hence the Reason gig), Bagge (who lives in the fuzzy-headed, liberal capital of the Northwest, Seattle) is hardly dogmatic, and many of the pieces undermine traditional party lines in favor of a rather personal, rational and informed take on hot-button issues that will force partisan Democrats and Republicans alike to rethink them. And of course, Bagge's well-researched comic strip 'essays' crackle with the same energy and wit that propelled him into the collective Gen X consciousness with his comic book series Hate. Favorite topics include the erosion of our civil liberties (whether the post-9/11 Bush administrations' gradual erosion of the Bill of Rights, the insanity of the war on drugs, or nanny-state meddling), ongoing boondoggles of the American public (for professional sports stadiums or ineffective public transportation systems), the Iraq war (Bagge is vociferously against it), politicians both in general and in particular (including the 2008 presidential race and a revelatory one-on-one with Republican not-so-hopeful Ron Paul that soured Bagge on the candidate forever), and the conservative/religious war on sex. Each piece features Bagge himself front and center as the puzzled, indignant, or deeply conflicted everyman-on-the-street trying to make sense of this 21st Century. And of course, every panel is delineated in Bagge's glorious, laugh-out-loud stretchy 4-color cartoon style, making even his disquisitions on some very serious topics go down as smoothly as Buddy Bradley's latest escapade. THE 2nd 'ISSUE' OF ONE OF 2008'S MOST ACCLAIMED DEBUTS The acclaimed graphic novel anthology continues with sublife, Volume 2. Creator John Pham enlarges the scope and expands the style of his series with an all-new collection of stories and strips. 'The Kid' is a self-contained short story set in an eerily familiar post-apocalyptic future. Bloodthirsty marauders roam the blasted desert. A nomad and his dog, scavenging the road for gas and supplies, stumble upon a sealed bomb shelter, the contents of which will test whatever humanity he has left, as the marauders pursue him to a violent, frenetic climax. 'Deep Space' continues the atmospheric science fiction serial begun in Volume 1. In this episode, Captain Ho, Commander Wallach, and their newly adopted space-faring companion Deek attempt to harness the power of an alien crystal with the hopes of finding a way back home. But will their best-laid plans survive Captain's fragile mental state and impulse-prone behavior? In '221 Sycamore St,' teenage runaway Phineas accompanies his uncles on a training session with their dog Freya, but what they're training Freya to do illustrates the disturbing lengths to which his uncles will take their racist ideology. This chapter builds and expands upon the characters and themes established in the first volume, showcasing a vision of Los Angeles that is sometimes dark and fractured, inhabited by a quirky cast of characters. As if that were not enough, the artist includes various, stand-alone short strips including 'Socko Sarkissian,' a single-page gem about baseball's greatest fictional Armenian slugger, 'St. Ambrose,' a fractured memoir about the author's parochial school alma mater, and 'Mort,' a story that answers the burning question, what happens when a jealous blogger encounters his nemesis? sublife Volume 2 is filled to the brim with a dizzying variety of stories and styles, all of which surprisingly coalesce into a unified reading experience thanks to their shared themes and motifs, much like Chris Ware's annual ACME Novelty Library. Dogs, missed connections, ad hoc family units, desert landscapes are all elements that pop up and recur among the different stories. It makes each volume of sublife eminently readable on its own, and proves why Pham is among the most compelling new voices in comics today. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

by Igort Close to a century ago, two aspiring cartoonists - Celestine and Pilade - vowed to use this new medium to create amazing works of fantasy and magic, and talk a retired local newspaper publisher into reviving his paper just for them. But just as he sees his big break and gets ready to launch what will eventually become his signature chaacter, 'Morvo', Celestine falls terribly ill, and even his doting sister's help can't get him back on track. Igort's ambitious series traces an alternate history of the very beginnings of the comic strip artform, with subtle nods toward such masters as Winsor McCay and George Herriman. by Gabriella Giandelli A high-rise apartment building in an unnamed European city. Its inhabitants come and go, meet each other, talk, dream, regret, hope and, in short, live. A ghostly, shape-shifting anthropomorphic white rabbit roams from apartment to apartment, surveying and keeping track of all this humanity, and at the end of every night, he floats down to the basement where he delivers his report to the 'great dark one.' Lushly delineated in pencilled sepia halftones, this debut 'Ignatz', by Gabriella Giandelli, offers a hauntingly unique vision and a tantalizingly open-ended beginning to an ongoing series. Some birds, curious for the event, organize themselves to protect this small, weak, creature to allow her to grow up.
