esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Starting in the mid-1960s, comics rapidly evolved into a highly creative art form for a sophisticated readership: in France, the magazine Hara-Kiri provided new terrains for graphical humor, while the adventures of Jean-Claude Forest's Barbarella were published in albums by Éric Losfeld; the launch in Japan of Garo in 1964, an avant-garde monthly, introduced the concept of auteur comics; and the release of Robert Crumb's Zap Comix in 1968 established his reputation as the leader of the underground comics movement in the United States. This major historical survey of the so-called 'ninth art' establishes a dialogue between the three leading regions of comic book culture-Europe, Asia, and America-and offers an immersive odyssey through the medium's development over six decades. In the shadow of World War I, a thrilling new world rises—a gilded world of miraculous technology, frightening threats, and brave new heroes. Discover this award-winning alternate-history graphic novel trilogy, now collected in a single volume! The early 20th century is a time of great societal upheaval, technological advancement, and intense political struggle. Some of the most brilliant and horrible minds of the age—wealthy industrialists, amazing inventors, and violent anarchists—collide to create a war between the wars. This is the backdrop for the award-winning alternate-history saga known as The Jekyll Island Chronicles. At the turn of the century, one-sixth of the world’s wealth vacationed in and around the tiny Georgia island of Jekyll. Captains of industry like Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Morgan, and Carnegie all called the Jekyll area home. The Jekyll Island Chronicles uses this place of grandeur and elegance as a pivotal location in the struggle to preserve the peace fostered by the end of the Great War.But an international cabal of anarchists, known internationally as Zeno and led by the infamous Luigi Galleani, seeks to disrupt the new order. Working across the globe, Zeno uses startlingly advanced technologies to seed unrest, taking lives in an effort to force the world back into another bloody conflict.Supported by the wealth of Jekyll and the most innovative minds of the early 1900s, a newly formed band of heroes—all wounded veterans of the Great War—stand against the forces of chaos. As rivals race to unlock the secret of Nikola Tesla’s death ray, cities burn, electricity crackles, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.Blending bizarre and often forgotten historical fact with heavy doses of alternate history and adventure, The Jekyll Island Chronicles is a captivating graphic novel trilogy for young and old. As classic comic book action comes to life with retro high-tech imagination and the aesthetics of the art deco era, the series vividly captures the period following World War I, injecting real villains, historic characters, original heroes, and exotic locales into an unforgettable narrative. This massive volume collects the entire epic struggle, taking the reader all across the globe and presenting a cavalcade of historic characters, real villains, and original heroes who fight to preserve the peace—from eye-popping beginning to jaw-dropping end.Collecting The Jekyll Island Chronicles, Book 1: A Machine Age War, Book 2: A Devil’s Reach, and Book 3: A Last Call.

Patrick Boutin-Gagné is a French comic book artist who was recently announced as one of the 20 artists contributing to Assassin's Creed: Visionaries, the upcoming anthology celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Assassin's Creed franchise. Way back in 2009/2010, Studio Lounak took its first steps into the world of transmedia when Ubisoft tasked them with expanding the ASSASSIN'S CREED® universe and creating the first ever comic book adaptation of their blockbuster video game series. What better way to celebrate these beginnings than with the re-release of the classic tale ASSASSIN'S CREED®: THE FALL that introduced the Assassin Nikolai Orelov, a Ukrainian immigrant who followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Assassin's Brotherhood in Tsarist Russia to combat the monarchy. Join Orelov in his pursuit of an artifact of immense power, from the mysterious and devastating Tunguska explosion to the streets of Petrograd, just as the Bolshevik Revolution takes hold. Meanwhile, in modern times, a troubled young drifter, Daniel Cross, struggles with unsettling visions of a possible past life…visions that have catastrophic and irreversible consequences for the present. ASSASSIN'S CREED®: THE FALL - PRESTIGE FORMAT is a thrilling, 80-page, time-spanning adventure wrapped in all new covers, with revisited dialogue and colors. This is a must have for both longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike. Assassin's Creed: The Fall is the best video game tie-in comic series I've ever read. - IGN.com From the small details of the grimy club to the era-specific train cars, weapons, and clothing of 1888, The Fall all at once looks like a history lesson and a tale of the modern underground. - craveonline.com Other comics creators, take note: this is how you do it. - comicsbulletin.com As far as these (video games to) comic book translations go, The Fall quickly stands out as one of the more slick and smartly executed. Assassin's Creed®: The Fall is a welcome breath of fresh air in the normally depressing video game comic market. -IGN.com (immagine) Categoria: Comics

Between 1966 and 1985 a generation of writers emerged that changed the face of American comic books forever. Many were fans every bit as much as they were professionals, creative artists working from an understanding of what felt right on the comics page forged by years of close scrutiny above and beyond the final sales figures. Some were tempered by exposure to new waves in cinema, new voices in writing, and new comics from Europe and Japan. Coming to comics at a time when the financial awards were poor and the chance for ownership of what one created was even poorer, these writers breathed new life into the dying icons of the past. Writers like Len Wein, Steve Englehart, Gerry Conway, Harlan Ellison, Marv Wolfman, Denny O'Neil, Mark Evanier, Mike Baron, and Alan Moore infused comics like X-Men, Captain America, and Swamp Thing with a progressive social outlook that ran directly in the face of decades of simplistic might-makes-right pseudo-moralizing. Some made their careers in other writing fields but toiled in comics out of a sense of loyalty and passion; others became comic book writers just out of their teens and never left. They were America's comic book children come home. The Comics Journal Library: The Writers celebrates the ascendancy of writer-driven mainstream comic books with a series of revealing, in-depth interviews, many conducted at the height of their influence. Between the 1940s and 1980s, Chicago's Black press, The Chicago Defender to the Negro Digest to self-published pamphlets, were home to some of the best cartoonists in America. Kept out of the pages of white-owned newspapers, Black cartoonists found space to address the joys, the horrors, and the everyday realities of Black life in America. From Jay Jackson's anti-racist time travel adventure serial Bungleton Green, to Morrie Turner's radical mixed-race strip Dinky Fellas, to the afrofuturist comics of Yaoundé Onli and Turtel Onli, to National Book Award-winning novelist Charles Johnson's blistering and deeply funny gag cartoons, this is work that has for far too long been excluded and overlooked. This anthology is an essential addition to the history of American comics. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror
