esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

For the 70th anniversary of William Golding’s classic, the first graphic novel adaptation of Lord of the FliesThe original tale of stranded youth devolving into disorder that inspired Yellowjackets and The Hunger Games, now a Penguin Classics Hardcover The well-known plot: A plane crashes on a desert island. The only survivors are a group of schoolboys. By day, they explore the dazzling beaches, gorging fruit, seeking shelter, and ripping off their uniforms to swim in the lagoon. At night, in the darkness of the jungle, they are haunted by nightmares of a primitive beast. Orphaned by society, they must forge their own; but it isn't long before their innocent games devolve into a murderous hunt …William Golding’s Lord of the Flies was originally published in 1954 and has been a canonical text on school syllabi and a familiar literary reference within the public’s consciousness. For the first time this unforgettable classic has been given new life with Aimée de Jongh’s graphic style and gorgeous color adaptation.
William Golding (1911 – 1993) was born in Cornwall and educated at Marlborough Grammar School and Brasenose College, Oxford. Before becoming a writer, he was an actor, small-boat sailor, musician and schoolteacher. In 1940 he joined the Royal Navy and took part in the D-Day operation and liberation of Holland. Lord of the Flies, his first novel, was rejected by several publishers but rescued from the "reject pile" at Faber and published in 1954. It became a modern classic selling millions of copies, translated into 44 languages and made into a film by Peter Brook in 1963. Golding wrote eleven other novels, a play and two essay collections. He won the Booker Prize for Rites of Passage in 1980 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1983. He was knighted in 1988 and died in 1993.Aimée de Jongh is an Eisner-nominated comic author and animator from the Netherlands. At the age of 22, Aimée's career in comics took off with the popular daily series Snippers for the Dutch newspaper Metro. At 25, she then published her first graphic novel The Return of the Honey Buzzard, which won the Prix Saint-Michel and was adapted to a live-action film. Her international breakthrough came when Blossoms in Autumn was released, a graphic novel about elderly love, written by Belgian comic author Zidrou. In 2019, Aimée published her autobiographical comic TAXI!, about four intriguing taxi rides she made. Aimée's most well known graphic novel is the award winning and Eisner nominated Days of Sand (Jours de Sable).

(W) William Shatner William Shatner has had a million lives, it seems, since he played James Tiberius Kirk on Star Trek. In fact, he's become an icon adored as much for being William Shatner as for his many starring roles. He's the Priceline Negotiator in a series of over-the-top (and hilarious) commercials, and clips of his appearances on talk shows reciting everything from Cee-Lo's hit song 'F**k You' to Sarah Palin's speeches have gone massively viral. With insight, wisdom, and, of course, a heavy dose of humor, Mr. Shatner reveals the truth behind his persona, his own career longevity, his understanding of modern technology, and the benefit of staying true to yourself, no matter what the situation. by William Shakespeare & Various No Fear Shakespeare is a graphic novels series based on the translated texts of the plays found in 'No Fear Shakespeare.' The original No Fear series made Shakespeare's plays easier to read, but these dynamic visual adaptations are impossible to put down. Each book features an illustrated cast of characters, plot summaries, line-by-line translations of the original play, and illustrations that show the reader exactly what's happening in each scene, all of which makes the plot and characters even clearer than in the original No Fear Shakespeare books. Students can explore familial betrayals in Hamlet, Scottish dynastic struggles in Macbeth, or doomed love in Romeo & Juliet. Each title is illustrated in its own unique style, but all are distinctively offbeat, slightly funky, and appealing to teen readers. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

(E) William Irwin, (E) Mark D. White Alan Moore's Watchmen is set in 1985 and chronicles the alternative history of the United States where the US edges dangerously closer to nuclear war with the Soviet Union. Within this world exists a group of crime busters, who don elaborate costumes to conceal their identity and fight crime, and an intricate plot to kill and discredit these 'superheroes.' Alan Moore's Watchmen popularized the graphic novel format, has been named one of TIME magazine's top 100 novels, and is now being made into a highly anticipated movie adaptation. This latest book in the popular Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture series peers into Moore's deeply philosophical work to parse and deconstruct the ethical issues raised by Watchmen's costumed adventurers, their actions, and their world. (W) William Schoell The Silver Age of Comics looks at super-hero comic books that were published in the mid-fifties to late sixties, a period when super-heroes, most of whom had been replaced by science fiction, crime, and romance comics, once again gained popularity and grew to virtually take over the whole comic book industry. The book not only looks at popular and lesser-known series including those from smaller publishers such as Charlton and Gold Key, commenting on the most interesting stories, it also examines the artists who were prominent during this period, and looks at why their work could be so effective on different strips. The book also looks at how different comics reflected - or didn't reflect - the changing mores and attitudes of the turbulent times when civil rights, women's rights, and other social movements got more and more attention.
