esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
Italy's Guido Crepax is one of the most acclaimed cartoonists in the world. In the 1960s and '70s, he created and chronicled the adventures of Valentina, arguably the strongest and most independent female character in European comics up to that time, and legitimized the erotic genre. Fantagraphics' ambitious Complete Crepax series launched in 2016 to international acclaim, and this handsome boxed set contains our third and fourth columes, Evil Spells and Private Life. Vol. 3 introduces Baba Yaga, the villainous witch of folklore, and includes Crepax's sinuous adaptations of several literary masterpieces by Robert Louis Stevenson, Henry James, and Edgar Allan Poe. In Vol. 4, the author's sexy proto feminist heroine Valentina becomes a mother, outwits a gang of jewel thieves, flashes back to her childhood and adolescence, encounters a mysterious cello, and much more! This collection of drawings and one-page cartoons by the internationally infamous cartoonist (and beloved children's book author) is a universal condemnation of human rottenness. The third book in Fantagraphics ongoing project to reprint Tomi Ungerer's 1970s-1980s satirical work, Babylon may be the most sobering collection so far, an example of his humor at its blackest. Drawn entirely in pencil, these fully rendered images, reproduced in lush, dense, gray tones, rival the satirical vitriol of his anti-war posters of the previous decade, radiating repulsion at what human beings can do to one another in the guise of 'civilization.' Taking on a political and social hue, his contempt for the ruling class etched on virtually every page, Ungerer depicts the bourgeoisie as vassals of the ruling class - members of a voyeuristic tribe who accept their position as the natural order of things and take glee in the subordination of those beneath them and the exploitation of those who make their position possible. Trendy spiritualism and religious quackery are skewered. Several drawings show people desperately trying to improve their appearance by putting lipstick on or having plastic surgery, clearly a transparent attempt to hide their inner ugliness. This denouncement of bad behavior is as sadly relevant today as it was in 1979 when this book was first published, as we have proved over these last four years. It is another uncompromising moral statement by Ungerer in the form of a series of masterful images. 'There's one thing I can tell you for sure,' he once said. 'There's no such thing as a sheltering sky.' And Babylon proves he means it. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Published in 1969, this Argentine graphic biography about Ernesto 'Che' Guevara was an instant bestseller, banned by a military dictatorship, and almost lost - and it has never been available in English. Until now. Life of Che is one of the most anticipated entries in Fantagraphics' The Alberto Breccia Library. Originally released as part of a graphic biography series in January 1969, it came out in Argentina only a year after Ernesto 'Che' Guevara had died and reached an audience beyond comics readers. In the 1970s, the military government raided its publisher, destroying the means to reprint the book. It was a lost comic until a publisher in Spain restored it in 1987 - and never translated into English. Until now. The book begins in Bolivia in 1967, then flashes back through Che's life - his childhood, his radicalizing motorcycle trip with Alberto Granado, his taking up of arms in Guatemala, his meeting with Fidel Castro, and his subsequent military and political maneuvers, ending in a fade-out to his death. Alberto Breccia and his son, Enrique, drew Life of Che. Enrique draws the Bolivia passages in a woodcut style, while Alberto depicts the flashbacks in his trademark, expressionistic black-and-white. It is primarily set in the field and with the people. Héctor Germán Oesterheld (The Eternaut) blends his authorial voice with Che's first-person. Life of Che is imbued with a sense of immediacy, as both Che and, eventually, Oesterheld would meet their ends by a military government backed by the American CIA. As Pablo Turnes writes in his afterword, it is 'the testament of someone consciously marching toward his revolutionary death.' (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Discover the bawdy, swashbuckling life of one of the greatest painters in history through Milo Manara's passionate and personal tribute to his artistic idol. Caravaggio: The Palette and the Sword Volume 1 is the first half of Milo Manara's two-volume epic biography of the hot-tempered Italian master painter. The two volumes of Caravaggio mark the return of Manara to U.S. readers and the debut of Fantagraphics' new series, The Milo Manara Signature Edition, featuring affordable paperbacks of maestro Manara's internationally acclaimed work. (Volume 2 will follow in Spring 2025.) The very first Donald Duck stories by Disney Legend Carl Barks! At last, Fantagraphics presents Carl Barks's very first Donald Duck stories! This is where it all started, as Carl Barks took control of Donald Duck's comic book adventures and began a series of clever, creative, complex, and comedic stories that would continue under his cartooning brilliance for more than 20 years - and guarantee his place in comics history. Volume 1 in The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library is, naturally, filled with firsts: Barks's first comic book story (starring Pluto), the first Donald Duck story created for an American comic book (and also the first to see Donald and his nephews go on a treasure hunt), Barks's first Donald 10-pager, Barks's first truly solo Donald Duck story, and Barks's first solo longer-form Donald Duck adventure ('The Mummy's Ring'). With more than 200 pages of story and art, each meticulously restored and newly colored, and the insightful story notes by an international panel of Barks experts, this long-awaited collection of stories makes clear what generations of Disney fans have always known: Carl Barks's work as The Good Duck Artist is some of the greatest American cartooning in the history of the medium.
