esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Some guys have all the luck… but not all luck is good. The award-winning duo behind Coin-Op Comics return with a mind-bending tale of fortune and family.Imagine a world where Luck, the most ephemeral of ideas, has a physical form. Precious stones of luck, mined like gold, are worn as bringers of fortune. But luck breaks both ways. While the blue gems may grant advantage to those who wear them, their blessing is fickle and unpredictable. In the blink of an eye, good luck can turn to bad. We follow the life of a man who comes into possession of some powerful stones — but the success enjoyed by the father goes awry when he tries to pass this luck onto his son. In alternating scenes between the two generations, The Bend of Luck follows felicity's course, like an arrow, through a family's destiny.
Brother and sister artists Peter and Maria Hoey live on opposite coasts but work closely together. Trading drawings back and forth from their studios in Northern California and New York. The Hoeys began writing and drawing comics in Blab! Magazine in the late 1990s, then launched their self-published comic book series, Coin-Op, in 2008. Their 2018 Comics Anthology, published by Top Shelf, earned a starred review from Publisher’s Weekly. Their self-published comics have been nominated twice for Eisner Awards. Animal Stories, their first full-length graphic novel, will be published by Top Shelf in December 2021, followed by The Bend of Luck in August 2022.

by (W) Riichi Yokomitsu (A) Atsuki Ito
A more intimate and romantic entry in the Maiden's Bookshelf series, this tale of doomed romance brings together the so-called "God of Literature" with the gorgeous artwork of Atsuki Ito, author of A Love-Letter in 26 Characters.“I can't imagine how wonderful it will be to die...” Confined to a sickbed by the seaside, a woman waits for death as her husband nurses her. This is no tragic idyll, however; the space between them is filled with antagonism, fear, suspicion, pain...and love.Riichi Yokomitsu brings a bitingly realistic sensibility to this claustrophobic tale of love and death, asmoving as it is agonizing.

by (W) Kyoka Izumi (A) Towoji Honojiro
Another spectacular collaboration between a literary giant and the illustrator of Touken Ranbu! The Maiden's Bookshelf series continues with this eerie classic from the great Izumi Kyoka.“But you couldn’t have known!”A mysterious encounter in the surgery room leads down the paths of memory after a young woman refuses anesthetic to protect her secret...At once dreamlike and strikingly modern, Kyoka Izumi’s 1895 tale of doomed love has never been more wrenching than it is here, presented alongside Towoji Honojiro’s haunting and evocative illustrations.
Rated T+
Izumi (1873-1939) was one of the most revered authors of the weird in late Meiji and Taisho Japan. His surreal and hypnotic style draws heavily on the Romantic tradition and the premodern Japanese supernatural, and his rich, allusive prose is considered by many to be second to none.

by (W) Blutch (CT) Matt Madden
A star of French comics imagines America--its movie stars, its history, its fashion--in these tantalizing graphic short stories about everything from love to, yes, the actor Robert Mitchum.Blutch is one of the most inventive storytellers in comics, and nothing reveals it like Mitchum. Serialized and collected in the mid-90s and never before available in English, this is Blutch at his most wide-ranging: from Puritan fever dreams to an encounter with a shape-shifting Robert Mitchum, Blutch builds stories out of his dreams, visions of America, and anything else he can get his hands on. Drawn in his unmistakable line that veers in a moment from crude to elegant, blotchy to crisp, horrific to serene, these comics show Blutch searching for new artistic frontiers. What he finds is sometimes surprising, occasionally unsettling, and endlessly fascinating.
Blutch (Christian Hincker) is an award-winning, highly influential French cartoonist. He has published almost two dozen books since his 1988 comic debut in the legendary avant-garde magazine Fluide Glacial, including Le Petit Christian, So Long, Silver Screen, and Peplum (available from NYR Comics). His illustrations appear in Les Inrockuptibles, Libération, and The New Yorker.Matt Madden is a translator and cartoonist. He is the author of 99 Ways to Tell a Story: Exercises in Style, which is a comics adaptation of Raymond Queneau's Exercises in Style, and of two textbooks co-written with his wife, Jessica Abel, Drawing Words & Writing Pictures and Mastering Comics. Madden and Abel were series editors of The Best American Comics for six years. He translated Edmond Baudoin's graphic novel Piero for New York Review Books. He lives in Philadelphia.

by (W) Nicole Claveloux (CT) Donald Nicholson-Smith; Daniel Clowes
Now in paperback, a collection of “darkly humorous, existential, erotic, trance inducing” (The New York Times) short stories by the lauded French comics artist Nicole Claveloux.Nicole Claveloux’s short stories—originally published in the late 1970s and never before collected in English—are among the most beautiful comics ever drawn: whimsical, intoxicating, with the freshness and splendor of dreams. In hallucinatory color or elegant black-and-white, she brings us into lands that are strange but oddly recognizable, filled with murderous grandmothers and lonely city dwellers, bad-tempered vegetables and walls that are surprisingly easy to fall through. In the title story, written with Edith Zha, a new houseplant becomes the first step in an epic journey of self-discovery and a witty fable of modern romance—complete with talking shrubbery, a wised-up genie, and one very depressed bird. This selection, designed and introduced by Daniel Clowes, presents the full achievement of an unforgettable, unjustly neglected master of French comics.
Nicole Claveloux has contributed to the French comics magazines Métal Hurlant (Heavy Metal) and Ah! Nana, and drew a popular comic strip called Grabote. Championed by Harlin Quist, she has also illustrated a number of successful chil- dren’s books, including an award-winning version of Alice in Wonderland. New York Review Comics will be publishing a new collection of her work, Dead Season and Other Stories, in 2022.Daniel Clowes is a cartoonist, illustrator, and screenwriter. In 1989 he created the influential comic book series Eightball, which includes the celebrated issues Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron, Caricature, and Ghostworld. He lives in Oakland, California.Donald Nicholson-Smith has translated a number of books for both NYRB Classics and New York Review Comics, including Yvan Alagbé’s Yellow Negroes and Other Imaginary Creatures. by (W) Yoshiharu Tsuge (CT) Ryan Holmberg
A Japanese manga legend's autobiographical graphic novel about a struggling artist and the first full-length work by the great Yoshiharu Tsuge available in the English language.Yoshiharu Tsuge is one of comics' most celebrated and influential artists, but his work has been almost entirely unavailable to English-speaking audiences. The Man Without Talent, his first book ever to be translated into English, is an unforgiving self-portrait of frustration. Swearing off cartooning as a profession, Tsuge takes on a series of unconventional jobs -- used camera salesman, ferryman, and stone collector -- hoping to find success among the hucksters, speculators, and deadbeats he does business with.Instead, he fails again and again, unable to provide for his family, earning only their contempt and his own. The result is a dryly funny look at the pitfalls of the creative life, and an off-kilter portrait of modern Japan. Accompanied by an essay from translator Ryan Holmberg that discusses Tsuge's importance in comics and Japanese literature, The Man Without Talent is one of the great works of comics literature.
Yoshiharu Tsuge is a cartoonist and essayist known best for his surrealistic, avant-garde work. Tsuge began drawing comics in 1955, working primarily in the rental comics industry that was popular in impoverished post-war Japan. In the 1960s, Tsuge was discovered by the publishers of the avante garde comics magazine Garo and he gained increasing recognition for his surrealistic and introspective work. He withdrew from Garo in the 1970s and his work became more autobiographical. Tsuge has not published cartoons since the late 1980s, elevating him to cult status in Japan. He lives in Tokyo. Ryan Holmberg is an arts and comics historian. He has taught at the University of Chicago, CUNY, the University of Southern California, and Duke University, is a frequent contributor to Art in America, Artforum, Yishu, and The Comics Journal, and has edited and translated books by Seiichi Hayashi, Osamu Tezuka, Sasaki Maki, and others.
