esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

In 1962 Frank Bellamy was asked to draw a new Roman epic strip for the Eagle, written by Tom Tully. Bellamy had previously honed his artistic skills on Robin Hood and King Arthur in the Swift and The Happy Warrior, the Story of Winston Churchill, Montgomery of Alamein, Marco Polo and Fraser of Africa, also in the Eagle. At the pinnacle of his artistic skills, this new commission gave him a unique opportunity. The new strip Heros the Spartan was being presented on the centre double page spread of the Eagle. This enormous canvas gave Bellamy a format few comic strip artists ever achieve or even dream of. The double page format enabled Bellamy to create the greatest comic strip adventure ever presented to the public. He excelled himself with revolutionary page and panel design and dramatic ink line work all in glorious colour and his ink lines and colour work on this strip have yet to be equalled by any other artist on any strip. Universally regarded as THE greatest British comic strip ever produced, the art has never before been reprinted since its initial publication in 1962. This super deluxe edition includes an additional 24 pages of sharp reproductions of original Heros art. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Originally published in War Picture Library 67, 83, 168 and 281, these four stories showcase the spectacular art of one of the most gifted artists to work in the European comics field, Gino D'Antonio. Born in Milan in 1927, he made his comics debut at the age of 20 with the series Jesse James. It was his work with Fleetway Publications that brought his art to an international audience through the pages of publications such as War and Battle Picture Library as well as the short lived War At Sea Picture Library. Born in Argentina in 1933, Jorge Moliterni's earliest work was in advertising. He soon moved to working in comics, where he was kept busy working for a wide spectrum of clients including the UK's Fleetway publications, including their pocket war libraries in the 1960s. Despite the influence of Milt Caniff that he shared with many of his contemporaries, his work was unparalleled when it came to handling dark themes. His moody use of light and portrayal of characters driven to the edge of madness made him a perfect choice for stories about fear, greed and vengeance. We have chosen four of his greatest stories, carefully restored the art and reset the fonts to bring you the sharpest reproduction imaginable of these great comics along with a War Comic Checklist and Cover gallery. Collectors often ask what makes the Carol Day comic strip, an obscure and seldom seen newspaper strip from the United Kingdom, so special to a small but growing band of fanatics. The strip hasn't been significantly reprinted and it never achieved wide circulation in newspapers. This book presents, for the first time, the full range of Carol Day art, from Wright's first story to his last, with examples from every story. We have gathered 136 outstanding Carol Day examples from across David Wright's run to display. All are reproduced from the original art to present the flavor of the strip and the magnitude of Wright's achievement. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

(W/A) Ron Embleton All of Ron Embleton's Wulf the Briton stories - collected from Express Weekly and the Annuals - in large format, gloriously reproduced in color to the highest standard. Wulf the Briton was, without a doubt, Ron Embleton's comics masterpiece after he took over the strip (in 1957) which had previously been a single page cover feature on Express Weekly. The workload that Embleton undertook with Wulf was formidable. In comparison to Frank Hampson, who had a studio and assistants to help meet the weekly Dan Dare deadlines, Embleton just had himself to draw, letter and paint the feature. However, Embleton was unfazed by such considerations and within a few months he was also writing the strip and steering it in a much more historically credible direction, as well as adding an extra page to the strip! This Deluxe hardcover edition is numbered and limited to 400 copies worldwide. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Frank Bellamy is an artist whose work reflects much of the century that he inhabited. Born a year before the end of the First World War, his art documented an age of conflict, exploration, technological advancement, social change and an age which could envisage worlds as yet undiscovered as well as worlds long departed deep beneath the sands of time. His story follows the course of many of his contemporaries, a driven determination to secure a living as a illustrator, bolstered by sporadic exposure to art tuition, stints in a provincial studio 'learning on the job', and the 'pilgrimage to London' and more specifically Fleet Street, which in the 1950s was a veritable Mecca for aspiring illustrators. What makes Bellamy's story so particular is his development into a pre-eminent graphic artist creating strips such as Robin Hood, King Arthur, Heros the Spartan, Fraser of Africa, Montgomery, The Happy Warrior, Thunderbirds and Garth. From a relatively staid and unremarkable (yet highly competent) artist to a ground-breaking master of the comic strip, his rise to fame presents not just a fascinating tale about his life and work but also the story of UK comics from what was a golden age through to the influencing of the next generation of comic artists-and creatives in other fields-who would succeed him. Typical of those who fell under Bellamy's spell is Oliver Frey who graces this edition with his introduction to the work of Frank Bellamy.
