esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Carl Barks: The Fantagraphics Studio Edition collects Barks’ preliminary pencil pages —or storyboards—of comics he wrote after he retired from penciling and inking, serving as a perfectly legible graphic storytelling map the finishing artist could follow. These are fully written and designed stories —which include Barks’ hand lettering— and can be read as easily as the rendered final versions. The advantage to these original art renditions is that the reader can not only appreciate but positively savor Barks’ gorgeous, nuanced penciling. These pages display the architecture beneath Barks’ final inked pages, revealing how fluid, vital, and effortless his finished panel-to-panel storytelling was, and how the subtlety of his character’s facial expressions were baked into the pencil work. Writing the story and breaking down the page graphically is the cartoonist’s first step to creating a comic, and here is an opportunity to see one of the 20th century’s greatest cartoonists thinking as drawing. This book includes “King Scrooge the First,” the last Uncle Scrooge story Barks wrote and one of his best, as well as “Pawns of the Loup Garou” and many others. The pages are reproduced from high resolution color scans and printed at the actual size they were drawn. The fidelity to the original art is so uncannily realized that a page framed under glass would be indistinguishable from the original. Every page convincingly conveys the quality and expressivity of Barks’ pencil linework. Also included are several cover sketches and finished pencil drawings that were never published, and covers that were bought, finished, and submitted but never published. An introduction by Barks expert and editor Kim Weston provides background information and aesthetic commentary on the stories. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Capitalist oligarchs and their minions have been condemned to Hell, but they lead a hostile takeover, throw out Satan, and privatize the Inferno. Operated by a corporate monopoly who maximizes profits and misery, Hell has become the perfect capitalist paradise. Fantagraphics, the premier publisher of cartoon art, presents each page of Young's art scanned from the original and reproduced in full color. His brushstrokes are clearly visible and this artwork appears as it did on his drawing board. This edition also includes the original 1934 essays by Young and his "friend, admirer, and attorney" Charles Recht, a foreword by acclaimed graphic designer Steven Heller, and an introduction by art collector and documentarian Glenn Bray. Behold! Macanudo’s revolving cast of witches, cats, imaginative children and their imaginary monsters — all gathered under one roof (or in one box)! Following in the distinguished footsteps of greats like Peanuts and Argentine forebears like Mafalda, Macanudo is a brilliant synthesis of Krazy Kat’s sophisticated and irreverent inventiveness, and Calvin and Hobbes’ expansive humanity and artistry. Freewheeling and bustling with manic charm and sweetness, each strip builds anticipation for the next unexpected creative revelation or revivifying variation on a theme. With a masterful sense of flow, combined with show-stopping images of breathtaking beauty, the heel-clicking, childlike glee contained in these pages is matched only by the joy of splashing about an undiscovered creek or the vivid crunch of autumn’s first leaves. It’s no wonder Liniers has his praises sung by the likes of Matt Groening, David Byrne, and Jeff Smith. Collecting the first three Fantagraphics Macanudo volumes, Welcome to Elsewhere, The Way of the Penguin, and Optimism is for the Brave, this fetching box set is a must-have for lovers of comic-strip-as-art, and an essential for everyone seeking the hidden wonder in life. The Buildings Are Barking is Bill Griffith’s tender, poetic, deeply felt comics tribute to his wife, life-long partner, muse, copy editor, and fellow cartoonist Diane Noomin. “I’m still unable to accept her death. I relive all 49 of our years together every day. How could anyone so alive, so funny, so lovely, be gone? Who am I without her?” Griffith summons all of his comics-making expertise in order to bring his beloved Diane back to life in a remarkable act of mourning and memory. His cartoon avatar Griffy has long provided grounded, snarky counterpoint to the pop-culture-damaged flights of fancy uttered and enacted by Zippy The Pinhead in the Zippy strip. Here, it's the Griffith character who is damaged enough by grief to become sincere and express his emotions, while both Noomin and her avatar Didi Glitz (in artwork taken from her own comics) manifest to bounce off the bereft Griffith with wisdom, advice to live life, and sharp sarcasm of her own. Returning to Noomin and Griffith's shared origins in underground comics, The Buildings Are Barking is Bill's first original work for the single-issue comic-book format in over forty years. His comic strip Zippy has run in daily newspapers since 1985, after a decade as a weekly, and he has recently created several graphic biographies for the book market, including Nobody's Fool: The Life and Times of Schlitzie the Pinhead (Abrams, 2019) and Three Rocks: The Story Of Ernie Bushmiller, The Man Who Created Nancy (Abrams, 2023). Fantagraphics has published a dozen Zippy collections and other Griffith anthologies since 1990, and his 2015 book Invisible Ink: My Mother’s Secret Love Affair with a Famous Cartoonist is still available in hardcover. Diane Noomin's best-of collection, Glitz-2-Go (Fantagraphics, 2012) is available in paperback. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Jack Davis and Wallace Wood’s crazed cartooning in Mad changed the art form, and comedy itself, forever. But their gonzo parody work in Mad’s sister satire title, Panic, published at the same time, is less well-known. To invert that injustice, this volume of The Fantagraphics EC Artists’ Library presents all their zany, pun-packed Panic lampoonery, especially their pomposity-puncturing movie parodies, including Davis’s “My Gun Is the Jury!” “Come Back, Little Street Car!”, “A Star Is Corn” and Wood’s “African Scream!”, “Gone With The Widow,” and “20,000 Leaks Under The Sea.” These visual volleys are verbalized by Al Feldstein (editor of Panic, later editor of Mad) and Jack Mendelsohn (prolific cartoonist and writer whose non-comics credits include TV’s Laugh-In and The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine). But the laughs don’t languish. Also included is the never-before-reprinted “V-Vampires,” a riotous romp written by the legendary Harvey Kurtzman and drawn by Wood that vanished after its initial appearance more than 70 years ago! To celebrate Fantagraphics' 50th anniversary in 2026, we are proud to bring back this era-defining classic: the comic that made Buddy Bradley a Gen-X slacker antihero! The Seattle Weekly once wrote, 20 years from now, when people wonder what it was like to be young in 1990s Seattle, the best record we'll have is Hate. This legendary comic, introducing Buddy Bradley and his loser roommates Stinky and George, remains a defining icon of grunge-era alternative culture, and a riotous look at aimless youth. Roberta Gregory launched Naughty Bits in 1991. It became the longest-running solo alternative comic book series by a female cartoonist, coming to an end in 2004 after an influential and pioneering 14-year, 40-issue run. The Exasperating Existence of Midge McCracken, a 500-page compilation of Gregory's "Bitchy Bitch" stories, presenting a life from childhood into middle age, following the character through multiple decades. To celebrate its release, as well as the 50th anniversary of Fantagraphics, we are proud to release this "facsimile edition" of where it all began! Midge McCracken is the abrasive, self-destructive pessimist every office has. Not to mince words, she's a bitch: bitter, mistrustful, racist, and completely unfiltered in her words and thoughts. But she comes by it honestly, growing up with hateful, racist parents, suffering sexual abuse as an adolescent, experiencing an unwanted pregnancy, etc. Did we mention that this is a comedy? Roberta Gregory’s unflinching sense of humor is the engine driving Bitchy! This mammoth collection includes Gregory’s “Bitchy Bitch” stories, presenting a life from childhood into middle age, following the character through multiple decades. Along the way, Gregory’s wider cast of characters are introduced, notably Bitchy’s suffering and insufferable coworkers: the obnoxiously cheerful Sylvia (who never met a problem that positive vibes won’t cure); the upwardly mobile and power-hungry Pam (aka Bitchy’s boss); the intolerant, God-fearing Marcie; her hapless friend-with-benefits, Kenny; and many more. In 1976, Roberta Gregory released Dynamite Damsels — the first underground solo comic created and self-published by a woman. After contributing regularly to the influential anthologies Wimmen’s Comix and Gay Comix throughout the 1980s, she launched Naughty Bits in 1991 while working as a production artist at her publisher, Fantagraphics. It became the longest-running solo alternative comic book series by a female cartoonist, coming to an end in 2004 after an influential and pioneering 14-year, 40-issue run. In Fall 2026, Fantagraphics launches The Complete Corto Maltese with Volume 1: The Ballad of the Salt Sea, Corto’s premiere adventure and the story that introduces him to the world. Pratt plunges us right into the action with Corto bound to a makeshift raft adrift in the Pacific Ocean in 1913. In short order, he is rescued by the Russian privateer Rasputin (yes, that Rasputin), and things only get more complicated and more treacherous from there. In addition, this volume also presents Pratt’s tale of Corto’s youth, when, in 1904 at the age of 16 in Manchuria, he is asked by his friend, Jack London (yes, that Jack London) to help rescue a young Russian deserter named Rasputin in the midst of the Russo-Japanese War. A modern Ulysses whose wanderings in the early decades of the 20th century take him to the most fascinating places on Earth, Hugo Pratt’s Corto Maltese is a hard-luck, hard-driving iconoclastic anti-hero who values freedom and independence more than wealth and status. Treasure hunter, storm-tossed sailor, and itinerant adventurer, the irascible and indefatigable Corto Maltese has earned his status as one of the most popular characters in European comics. Who’s got the sweetest disposition? Not Donald—but that’s why we love him! Over the decades, Duckburg’s feistiest fowl transformed from a gawky, goosey figure into one of comics’ most emotive, visually streamlined stars. Now Fantagraphics invites you to trace this evolution artist by artist, with all of Donald’s greatest in attendance! Al Taliaferro brings us a 1934 comics adaptation of Donald’s first screen role in “The Wise Little Hen!” Beloved “Duck Man” Carl Barks sends Donald to the circus in our 1950s title tale, “Big-Top Bedlam,” then goes on to pit him against witches, Uncle Scrooge—and himself! Don Rosa’s Donald tackles Neighbor Jones on Halloween in “Fit to Be Pied”; then Freddy Milton combines Ducks with dragons in “The Big Sneeze”! Each epic tale comes with new commentary by Disney historians Jim Fanning, David Gerstein, and Simone Cavazzuti, an interview with modern Duck designer Paco Rodriguez—and the inside scoop on every makeover Donald has received. Already a Marvel/Timely legend for his creation of the Sub-Mariner in 1939, Bill Everett returned to Marvel during the 1950s to become Atlas’ most versatile and effective practitioner of horror-fantasy. Everett’s art was a combination of Graham Ingels, Harry Anderson, and Bernie Wrightson, with the slick ink line of Jack Davis, all melded within his own uniquely captivating imagery and in-your-face ghastliness. This mammoth Fantagraphics/Marvel volume is packed with Atlas pre-Code horror stories — the first volume of a series collecting the Atlas works of Sub-Mariner-creator Bill Everett. Including: “Spectacles of Doom,” “The Evil Eye,” “The Pit of Horror!” “Horror in the Moonlight!” “Don’t Bury Me Deep,” “One Head Too Many!” “Burton’s Blood!” Werewolf!” “The Madman,” and “The Graymoor Ghost,” from titles like Menace, Journey into Unknown Worlds, Strange Tales, Uncanny Tales, Spellbound, Mystic, Suspense, as well as “Zombie!” from Menace #5, featuring a character rebooted as Simon Garth in the black-and-white Marvel Magazine explosion of the 1970s. Created in 1976, The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec is the iconic Gaslamp fantasy series that put master French cartoonist Jacques Tardi on the map. In celebration of Adèle’s 50th anniversary, Fantagraphics is thrilled to introduce a new generation of comic readers to its delightful alchemy of suspense, satire, and the supernatural.
