esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
by Thomas Ligotti Often cited as the most curious and remarkable figure in horror since H.P. Lovecraft, Thomas Ligotti's work is noted by critics for its display of an exceptionally grotesque imagination and accomplished prose style. The stories collected in Teatro Grottesco feature tormented individuals who play out their doom in various odd little towns, as well as in dark sectors frequented by sinister and often blackly comical eccentrics. by Benjamin Hervey George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968) is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential horror films of all time. Shot on a low budget on black and white film, Night depicts an America under siege from reanimated corpses. Drawing on original archival research, author Benjamin Hervey traces how the film quickly gained cult status, while at the same time it was hailed as a piece of art cinema and as a deep political allegory. by Roz Kaveney Modern myths, cheap trash, or the objects of fetishist desire? Most people know something about Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman, even if what they know is heavily filtered through film and television versions, rather than the comics in which they first appeared. In Superheroes!, acclaimed cultural commentator Roz Kaveney argues that this is a mistake, that, at their best, superhero comics are a form in which some writers and artists are doing fascinating work, not in spite of their chosen form, but because of it. In the tradition of Logicomix, a riveting graphic novel on the life and stoic philosophy of Marcus Aurelius. Donald Robert's graphic novel Verissimus reimagines the life and philosophy of the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius. Based closely on historical sources and weaving them into a thrilling historical epic, Verissimus teaches readers a philosophy of life through illustration. It opens with Marcus' death and tells the story of his entire journey: his education, relationships, wars, plague, and civil war -- all leading up to his remarkable death. Verissimus illustrates key Stoic ideas, and focuses on developing love, empathy, and overcoming anger -- all emotions with which Marcus struggled. Robertson highlights several key relationships, and through them tells the story of the famous philosopher's intellectual journey and emotional transformation. by David Hajdu In the years between World War II and the emergence of television as a mass medium, American popular culture as we know it was first created - in the pulpy, boldly illustrated pages of comic books. No sooner had this new culture emerged than it was beaten down by church groups, community bluestockings, and a McCarthyish Congress - only to resurface with a crooked smile on its face as MAD magazine. The story of the rise and fall of those comic books has never been fully told - until The Ten-Cent Plague. David Hajdu's remarkable new book vividly opens up the lost world of comic books, its creativity, irreverence, and suspicion of authority. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

(W) Will Brooker Will Brooker's illuminating study takes issue with many commonly held ideas about Star Wars. He provides a close cinematic analysis, carefully examining its shots, editing, sound design, cinematography, and performances. Brooker argues that Star Wars is a continuation of Lucas' experiments with sound and image, revealing Lucas's contradictory desires for the total order and control of the Empire, and, on the other hand, for the raw energy and creative improvisation of the Rebels. Though at first Star Wars seems a simple fairy tale, it becomes far more complex when we realize that the director is rooting for both sides, creating a tension that unsettles the saga as a whole and illuminates new sides of Lucas's masterpiece. New York Times-bestselling graphic novel writer Paul Jenkins debuts with a novel that is a cross between Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere and Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. Will Morgan is a creature of habit, a low-budget insurance detective who walks to and from work with the flow of one-way traffic, and for whom imagination is a thing of the distant past. When a job opportunity enters the frame in the form of the mysterious Mr. Dinsdale, curator of the ever so slightly less-than-impressive Curioddity Museum, Will reluctantly accepts the task of finding a missing box of levity (the opposite of gravity). What he soon learns, however, is that there is another world out there - a world of magic we can only see by learning to un-look at things - and in this world there are people who want to close the Curioddity museum down. With the help of his eccentric new girlfriend Lucy, Will will do everything he can to deliver on his promise to help Mr. Dinsdale keep the Curioddity Museum in business.
