esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
As contemporary as this graphic art form may appear to readers outside of Japan, manga has deep roots in Japanese culture, drawing on centuries-old artistic traditions. Traces can be found in seventh-century temple paintings, folding screens decorated with comic characters, and painted medieval emakimono scrolls. This volume spans the history of manga in all its splendor and diversity. Each period is covered in detail by author Brigitte Koyama-Richard and illustrated with drawings and prints. One Thousand Years of Manga is both an informative account of the genesis of the form and a visual delight. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror

World authority on comic art Paul Gravett details the evolving meanings of the myths and legends told and retold by manga artists of every decade and reveals the development and cross pollination of ideas between manga artists throughout Asia. He explores the explosion of creativity in manga after the Second World War and highlights how creators have responded to political events since 1950 in the form of propaganda, criticism, and commentary in manga magazines, comics, and books. This book is the first to explain the significance of key themes, the meanings of embodied myths, and the connections between various manga traditions. Initially referring to graphic novels and comics, manga has expanded beyond its original forms to include animation, fashion, and new media. Arranged into six thematic chapters, each opening with an essay, followed by interviews and art selections, this revealing study traces the origins of manga and explores its role in society, and its appearance in different media, from video games to street art, as well as its growing international reach. An insightful appreciation of the life and art of Tove Jansson, creator of the Moomin books, which are adored by children and adults across the globe. This book provides fresh insight into and a deep appreciation of the life and art of Tove Jansson (1914-2001), one of the most original, influential, and perennially enjoyed illustrators of the twentieth century. In this volume Paul Gravett examines Jansson's highly successful Moomin books, as well as her interpretations of classics such as Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and The Hunting of the Snark, and J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. Born in Helsinki among Finland's Swedish-speaking minority, Jansson was brought up with a love for making art and stories in a supportive, artistic family. Her first illustrated tales were published when she was fourteen years old and she went on to draw humorous and political cartoons as well as striking front covers for the satirical magazine Garm, in response to events in World War II. As she developed from art student to painter and muralist, and from bohemian to lesbian, she also created her Moomin world, which appeared in her first children's book in 1945 and then in newspaper strips. Beyond this imaginative achievement, Jansson also wrote many novels, documented here along with personal commentaries from her own writings. A title in The Illustrators series, which celebrates illustration as an art form, Tove Jansson offers a visually rich view into the life and work of this much-loved artist and writer.
