esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
Acclaimed cartoonist Tim Lane debuts a new, ongoing series exploring the good, the bad, and the ugly of 20th century masculinity through a head spinning blend of fact and fiction featuring Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Walter Cronkite, and others - culminating in a quick-draw shootout on Mars between Steve McQueen, Johnny Cash, and Sammy Davis Jr. This all-new series showcases Lane's meticulous and jaw-dropping artistry - a level of detail echoing illustrative legends like Frank Frazetta, Alex Raymond, and Dave Stevens. During the 1950s, Abe Goodman-brother of Marvel Comics' publisher Martin Goodman-was the largest buyer of cartoons in the world. Publishing out of New York City under the Humorama banner, Goodman churned out scores of cheap digest-sized magazines boasting inventive titles like Romp, Stare and Joker that featured hackneyed jokes, cheesecake photos and the publications' bread and butter, single panel pin-up cartoons.Whiles the digests were often a dumping ground for cartoonists past their prime and for unused inventory that was too risqu? to be sold elsewhere, they were also a proving ground for neophyte gag cartoonist or a welcomed alternative to the daily grind of comic book sweatshops. And nowhere was this more evident than in the 1950s and 1960s when the digests featured the likes of Playboy's Jack Cole, Archie's Dan DeCarlo and glamour girl legend Bill Ward. In addition to these three pin-up cartooning luminaries, other notable who contributed to the pages of the Humorama digests included longtime illustrator Jefferson Machamer; Basil Wolverton, who influenced a generation of underground cartoonists; Mad's Dave Berg ('The Lighter Side'); and future syndicated cartoonists George Crenshaw ('Belvedere'), Bill Hoest ('The Lockhorns') and Brad Anderson ('Marmaduke').With this latest volume in its popular pin-up series, Fantagraphics continues its commitment to showcasing the best of the classic pin-up cartoon artists. Drawing from private collections of original art and thousands of Humorama digests, editor Alex Chun has once again selected the best of these long out-of-print images. by Johnny Ryan Johnny Ryan is the one-man Mad magazine behind the quarterly comic-book series, Angry Youth Comix. Collecting issues #6-10 of Angry Youth Comix, Johnny Ryan's XXX Scumbag Party features such signature Ryan characters as Boobs Pooter, Loady McGee, Sinus O'Gynus, Baby Johnson, and Blecky Yuckerella. Featured stories include: 'Sherlock McRape in 'Who Hit Nelly in the Belly with Jelly,' 'Battle of the Century' (a thinly-veiled satire of two well-known, anachronistic graphic novelists), the epic 'O'Pussy,' and even-more-epic 'Dry Gulch Follies 2005,' featuring just about every character Ryan ever created in one 25-page comedy masterpiece. Peppering the stories are over 100 hilariously profane gag cartoons peppered throughout the book. (That's a lot of pepper!) (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Our First Full-Color Mickey Mouse Colection We're jumping from black and white to classic color-as Floyd Gottfredson's Mickey Mouse series makes its 1932-35 Sunday strip debut! Bright hues highlight our hero as he enjoys four years' worth of wild weekend epics... taking him from Uncle Mortimer's Wild West ranch to the icy peak of frigid Mount Fishflake! And in this volume, Mickey is joined by a famous co-star: Donald Duck! Floyd Gottfredson, artist of the Sunday Mickey Mouse from 1932-38, created the most famous Mickey tales ever told in print. These Sunday specials-many never before reprinted-also feature the work of later Donald Duck master Al Taliaferro. Collectively, they form a collection that fans have been seeking for a lifetime! Highlights include 'Mickey's Nephews,' introducing Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse, and 'Dr. Oofgay's Secret Serum,' which turns Horace Horsecollar into a brainwashed wild mustang! Classic gag stories round out the book, offering manic Mouse mischief at a fever pitch. Restored from Disney's art sources and enhanced with a meticulous recreation of the strips' original color, Call of the Wild also brings you more than 30 pages of chromatic supplementary features! You'll enjoy rare behind-the-scenes art, vintage publicity material, and fascinating commentary by a prismatic pack of Disney scholars. Upholding crime and corruption, one fast food joint at a time. Fat Cop never passes up a possible grift, a chance to use excessive force, or a pit stop at any chain restaurant he passes. He chafes when forced to take a new partner, Pete Rick, to keep him on the up and up. Even when he lucks into a heroic deed, he manages to do so repulsively. But when Fat Cop uncovers a child slave ring operating out of the local Trader Joe's, he may have met his match on the reprehensibility scale. If he's not careful, it might be a transformative experience that causes him to reconsider his role as a loving partner and father. Well, up to a point, anyway - sometimes a fat cop is just a Fat Cop. Johnny Ryan returns to his lowbrow humor roots following his cult classic and violent fantasy series, Prison Pit. Ping-ponging his antihero through an ever-escalating and cascading series of violent, scatological, and wildly imaginative absurdities (most but not all of Fat Cop's own making), Ryan's brilliance as a visual and verbal gag writer shine on every page of this master class in physical humor and comics storytelling. Fat Cop is as hilarious as it is profane, and a welcome return to long-form comics by the cartoonist and animation veteran Johnny Ryan. Johnny Ryan is the creator of the cult favorite Angry Youth Comics, a co-creator of the Nickelodeon series Pig Goat Banana Cricket, and was the story editor of Warner's mid-2010s reboot of Looney Tunes. He lives in Glendale CA. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

THE SEQUEL TO THE 2003 PERENNIAL CLASSIC, PALOMAR When Gilbert Hernandez climaxed his award-winning 'Palomar' series at the end of Love and Rockets' original run by leveling the tiny Central American hamlet, many disappointed readers thought he had written off those beloved characters for good. Not so. Hernandez soon picked up the story of Luba (who had not only been one of the dominant characters of the 'Palomar' series but had also starred in its prequel 'Poison River'): Now older but perhaps not so very much wiser, the hammer-wielding matriarch had relocated to the United States of America, where she continued to contend not only, as an immigrant, with a brand new and not always welcoming culture but also her tempestuous extended family - her eccentric sisters Fritz and Petra, her nurturing but often disapproving cousin Ofelia, her many children ranging from the fully grown (Guadalupe and Doralis) to the latest brood sired by her husband Khamo (Casimira, Socorro, Joselito, and Conchita) - many of them in turn each with her own network of family members, lovers, and friends (including a number of other escapees from Palomar). These 'America' stories - over 80 of them, ranging from quick one-page blackout sketches to bona fide graphic novellas - were originally published in a number of different comics and reprinted in a trilogy of oversized paperbacks. Luba finally collects in one compact, affordable hardcover the entirety of these tales, showcasing Gilbert Hernandez's wicked wit, great compassion, and uncanny understanding of how human beings love, squabble, and ultimately find a way to make it through this life. Tales of sex, violence and rock and roll rub elbows with stories of love, sensitivity, and understanding - and thanks to the miraculous alchemy of Hernandez's peerless storytelling, what emerges is a coherent, exciting, funny portrait of one of the richest group of fictional characters ever to spring from a cartoonist's mind. Collecting the first five issues of Gilbert Hernandez's comic book series Blubber, an absurdly X-rated showcase for the most surreally transgressive of Hernandez's short stories. Weirdos (Blubberoo, Mr. Elvis, John Dick, the Mentor), creatures (the Mau Guag, Doogs, and Orlats…), and anthropomorphs (the Cloarks, the Kekeppy) visit places where most comics fear to go. Blubber veers between an absurdist satire of porn (and occasionally nature documentaries) as well as a defiant provocation to those unable to appreciate the difference between cartooning and obscenity. As R. Crumb said, 'It's only lines on paper, folks!' It is also a howlingly funny book, filled with a rogues gallery of colorful comic book monsters (the Pollum, the Junipero Molestat, the mythical Forest Nimmy) and characters (T.A.C. Man, Mr. Hippy, Padre Puto, the Snowman, Baron Mungo, Red Tempest) that echoes the sheer visual imagination of Jack Kirby. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
